my dad raised me on this music and i say god bless the allman brothers for there creativity. They will always live on forever this music is timeless and priceless!!!!!!!!!
JustAintThatWay, you got it right. What a loss when Duane died, but he came, did what he had to do, and split the scene before it got stale. Gregg, DIcky & the band carried on with grace, reminding us of a time when music was the business, not the MTV/VH1 corporate icon media image horseshit stinking up radio to where I don't even want to hear the synth, rap-ripped, dipped in dogshit, pointlessness of the dickless gangsta wannabees who know nothing about actually playing an instrument..
Music is the more simple word for TABB in age of Duanne and Oakley. They are state of mind through the ONE WAY of circle of life and dead.Like in music of Mozart, every tons are in wright place and if you change it you will broke idea.
hey people cant we all agree to disagree-duane was special-and ronnie, allen, steve, artimus, and billy, were special-i strongly think that if they were still here that they would have got together- and who knows what great jams could have resulted
duane and dicky, betts & d-allman i consider it one of the privileges of my life to be able to hear these two guitarists interacting am i overstating it? you tell me when i go back and listen to these numbers it's almost like a family gathering even tho i never met either of them to me - i read betts can be a hard tough man - but there is no one who can say what he can ' i played with stood on stage with and was an equal to ... duane allman' talk about cachet ... whoa
@JustAintthatWay i totally agree i'm glad i was alive to hear one of these great bands of all time but eric clapton is my all time loveeeeeeee he is a treasure to my soul!!!!!!!
Damned good blues band. The best of the era IMHO.Everyone knew them, and nobody didn't like them. People are still trying to figure them out. lol. I just spent half an hour messing with the licks on my acoustic. Frustrating, but very cool.
It's a Sonny Boy Williamson song. Jeez you guys, if you want to listen to the Allmans better go to the roots just like they did or you won't learn anything useful in life. Duane was far and away the best there ever was. Lynard Skynard couldn't hold his guitar case. They opened for them. If they were so good the Allmans would have opened for them.Clapton never played with the Allmans he just stole Duane's licks for "Layla" and did a few Derek and the Dominoes gigs.
@chelliegirl Clapton didn't steal Duane's licks, he stole Duane. The Derek and the Dominoes album is great, and sounds like a real collaboration between two great guitarists.
Maybe the greatest guitar duo ever. Supposedly, Clapton joined them on tour for a few dates as well- what an awesome show(s) that would've been. Duane died in a motorcycle accident not too long after. What a shame.
I used to see this band in Jacksonville at the Forest Inn during the days of be ins. Yes, they are from Jacksonville, Florida and were a true soldier in the movement.
Precision at it's finest

@chelliegirl hey sugarpie there're no 'a's in ls's name
and id bet my last nickle they - collins/rossington/king
& gaines - would all agree w/ you duane was is
and always will be tops
but the guitars in their own cases were played by some
pretty impressive guys and i think duane allman would
wholeheartedly agree with that
peace
