Whoa. Haven't seen these comments! Harder to catch river run carp for sure - and much better fighters. If you are interested in what lake and what fly, check out dfwflyfishing and texasflycaster, and dig through the archives or buy flies on Texas Fly Caster site.
I have tried catching carp on the red river with numerous types of flies. These are the hardest fish to catch. Super Spooky Fish. I have just given up....I will only fly fish for dump fish..Heheeee.... LOL...Anyways.....Great Video !!!! Keep up the good work...
OMG! You just opened up a whole new world of possibilities: I'm 100's of miles from decent trout water and really missin' the long rod. I'm goin' after those buglemouth bass this summer!!!
I live here in North Texas and fish this lake plenty. I use rubber legged nymphs #6 , color doesn't seem to matter as much as getting the fly withing a few inches of its mouth
Yeah, what fly are you using? I can't seem to get carp to hit anything other then corn and bread (both floated and sunken), and once in a blue moon...worms. I'm in NJ, and I've made myself a "bread fly" out of cork and "stuffed animal fuzz". It seems to imitate a floating peice of bread pretty well, and I can't wait to give it a try.
Again, I'd love to hear what fly you were using, do they hit other things besides mainly corn/bread over in Texas, cause thats all they seem to like here in NJ.
We use 6 to 8 weights.
