  • wow. what a treat to be able to see more of the ending that you had in mind.....

  • i like this ending more

  • I liked this one best, it had an ending that maid sence although the other had way better animation this gave a stronger felling of pain and suffering.

  • YES MORE JAMESLEE ANIMATION!!!

  • Uh, this one's alot better...

  • what animation programe does u use

  • @petziey

    probably adobe flash

  • really creative :)))))))))) by italy

  • Amazing work! I like this version better tho.

  • This ending is so much mor ebetter and happier, the old one left me hangin

  • Far, far, FAR superiour ending. IMMEASURABLY better.

Why on EARTH did you abandon that in the final project?? Frankly, the "completed" movie left me wondering exactly what I should believe or think of... Well, everything, really. Every good story has "sides," not necessarily of good and evil, but definite sides which the readers/viewers should be able to identify. Purged ended with me unsure as to which side I was really on.

This animatic, however, is very clear in that regard. Much better.

  • where can i get the song???

  • This version of the story is actually much better.

  • Okay, if you guys want to find out more about the angel and what the story is really about, Mr Lee has some pre-production art on his DeviantArt that can explain more. Hands up if you love this piece; it's an interesting story with an unforgettable protagonist and the inclusion of unique surrealism.

  • Souless Paradise? was that the old title?

  • Please put a download link to the music!

  • scotch-korean man, its all so scotch korean.

  • wow she/he rlly dont like apples

  • @Doommafia1 the apple respresents the sins we make in life. the angel is being tempted to eat it by the others...when he crushed it, he was free from this temptation and earned his wings.

  • @BlizzardEye1996 dang now it makes sense makes this animation the more enjoyable thanks dude

  • @Doommafia1 im a girl but yeah ur welcome :)

  • @BlizzardEye1996 The angel is a girl.Her name's Tira.

  • 1 guy clicked the wrong button

  • You really should be thinking about finishing this.. the actual piece without the actual ending makes no sense..

  • Moral: Temptation is much weaker then will

Extremely well made plot, ending made everything understandable, a very good animation in all, make more animations like this

  • Yeah, this ending is WAY better - if you had added this at the end of the actual short - people would understand the plot more - even though it still is unclear as to why these "angels" are being the temptresses - the concept is a lot clearer.

  • So it's like crushing temptation crushes the root of evil itself? (Crushing the apple crushes the creepy demon-ladies) And when you do that it will set you free. But you can't just deny it, and ignore it. You have to fight back against it. Sort of like issues with poverty and peace, there's no good in saying "I don't cause war and poverty, therefore it's okay." That's not good enough, you have to crush it.

  • Oh wow.. I do hope you decide to finish it. The ending looks very great..

    Really loved this piece.

  • Continued:

Even though the angel desired the apple/sin, she was able to look past it's deceptive appearance and see it for what it is.

she did not gave in, even though it was hard, she resisted the temptation and was redeemed.

I think the removing of the halo/collar and the wings at the end represent freedom.

The angel has been redeemed now. She's no longer in bondage to sin, temptation and regret. She's free to return to paradise now.

    Just my thoughts/interpretation.

  • Even though it's more rough, I think I like this version better. It seems to make more sense. I think the angel is supposed to be female because in the finished version it looks like it has a bosom, but I read some comments calling it a he, so IDK.

I think the apples represent sin and/or temptation. The apple truing rotten represent how deceptive sin is. It can look completely harmless, even beautiful or appealing, but look closer and it's a vile, disgusting thing. In the end, it's very bitter.

  • amazing is the only word that describes this even as rough as it is i wish you would have continued and made a non cliff hanger ending on the finished version

  • I like this ending much better - I understand it.

  • We're going to see something of yours in theaters some day huh? I mean you've got the amazing talent, a directors sounding name and just all around fantasticness.

  • wow this was actually more amazing then the finished one, you should really ad that last part if you ever have the time. The finished one ends a bit to abrubtly, its still amazing work though

  • Ohh with the ending, it makes much more sense! :3

  • I enjoyed the animation, but after seeing this clip, I think this would suit much better as an ending rather than a cliffhanger. But it's good stuff mate :D

  • I think this story made a bit more scene to me than the finished on on da.

  • this is soooo cooool. animation is amazing. i hope it can continue

  • not even needing to mention the final product which is beutifull, this is better than most things on newgrounds in general (meaning just this)

  • I do like this ending better; it explains more. So he was cast out of heaven, and all the apples represent sin? When he crushed the apple, it represented him not giving in to the evil and corruption all around him, even though he was tempted to bite into it. He redeemed himself.

  • i actually love both...both left me thinking that we have to chose even if there's a wrong choice and a right one we must live with it...i do love the animation and the music just adds the feeling to it...overall i say good work! you left me amazed

  • yea, prefer this ending.. leaves a better after-feeling.

  • Awww this ending I loved more D:

Your animation was beautiful! I loved it!

  • this is so much better than the original movie. You should have forgot about all the flashy fancy pretty graphics stuff and just did this to begin with man.

  • So nice to know that we can watch another 1 of your animations....... I can't wait for Tarboy 2 now !!!!!!!!!

  • loved it

  • If I understand this right then my god, this is quite Morbid!

I would love to read/watch a commentary on the thoughts and feelings behind this one

  • hmm

  • I actually like this ending much better...

  • @Rathdrgnknight Same here.

  • EPIC LOOKING! I cant wait to see you stick it on Newgrounds as the final version, I would rate as much as I can.

  • @JustAtyper wait, didn't he already release Purged almost a year ago?

  • amazing and this is my second favorite my favorite is tarboy

  • It's religious I think because the apple is the forbidden fruit and those chicks are tempting him to eat it. just a guess.

  • @ittooklongtomakethis Of course it's based on religion, it's called purged, as in purgatory!

  • @ittooklongtomakethis

'chicks'?! friend you have a very sick definition of 'chicks'

  • @ittooklongtomakethis It's a girl

  • @kimahrikara sorry

  • @ittooklongtomakethis Although I can appreciate the symbolism... The forbidden fruit was not an apple.

  • @laschea006 Yes but (at least in Europe) it was depicted as an apple for centuries.

  • @ittooklongtomakethis Nope exact opposite:

"Synopsis: The story follows an angel named Tira who's banished from heaven for rejecting her peers way of life. She ends up in purgatory and while she wanders the endless grey fields, heaven tempts her to join them once again. She destroys heaven within herself and falls back to the fields of grey. Now with Purgatory as her blank canvas, she creates her own heaven as she sees fit." (James Lee, deviantart)

  • @Abent5866 Okay, I think I'll stick to my opinion

  • @Abent5866 even if it's right or wrong

  • @ittooklongtomakethis "Synopsis: The story follows an angel named Tira who's banished from heaven for rejecting her peers way of life. So this ending actually makes a lot more sense.

  • Comment removed

  • Why was the entire ending cut from the final draft?

  • good. now get to work on tarboy 2! lol no just kidding this is looking great. cant wait for full thing!

  • I'm not sure I understands it, but I like it.

  • amazing..just amazing!

  • very original and very well done.

  • Too awesome!!
