Funny In France we learn Do Re Mi Fa SOL la SI Do

I wonder where the difference comes from.

I think the name of these notes originally came from a song in Latin that was sung by monks, who decided that music should be written. There's probably some interesting translation difference somewhere. Anyone knows about it?

I'm just a curious guy.
