@manq211 Swedish actor. The film was produced by both Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Still, I can't believe they couldn't find a Norwegian actor. It was a very bad decision and it pisses me off.
along with Dostoevsky and Cervantes, the greatest novelist. I'd put him ahead of Camus, Tolstoy, and Mannn.
I tend to run through authors in bouts. I read them chronologically, researching translations, selecting the best.
I am reading my 6 book of his (Sult, Mystries, Pan, Victoria, In Wonderland, and now 1/2 way through Rosa--all Lyngstad translations)--yet to get to Growth of the Soil--can't wait...Next is Last Joy
Well for others norwegian and german can sound barbaric, I'm norwegian and compared to danish and swedish, our language isn't exactly a "singing" language. But believe me, norwegians does not sound like goats.
But everyone has their opinion about different subjects.
Funny remark :-) I am Danish and to me and many others, Norwegian is the most beautiful of the Scandinavian languages. In contrast to the majority of Danish and Swedish dialects Norwegian is actually singing in my ears :-). By the way, Hamsun wrote in a Norwegian which is closer to Danish than "New Norwegian" is. Hence, I would never dream of reading him in translation.
Bokmål you mean? I personally prefer Bokmål too because I find it easier to understand, (I'm learning Swedish as a casual hobby) but I get the impression that nowadays Nynorsk is considered more distinctively Norweigan. Am I wrong? Please point out if I am. I too think the Norwegian language is the most beautiful among all the Scandinavian languages, especially Nynorsk, it's just that I can't understand a word of it :-(
@h1zchan sorry but bokmål is definitely the dominant one. Though Norway has a lot of very different dialects that might as well be considered independent languages.
he didn't write in Bokmål, he wrote in riksmål, a more danish version of my language, or some other older version of my language. it doesn't matter much, as allways it is all just versions of our dialects and no written language is more correct than the others. my way of talking norway is distinctively norwegian, but it has nothing to do with nynorsk. i speak that eastside oslo dialect, doing it our way. hamsun is one of the greatest, and i hate norwegian culture in general.
Every German would be ashamed of the words you have written here.
I am German myself, so in a sense (your sense) more 'pure' than you are, due to the fact that you are just an American 'culture-mixup', a fake of a German.
I speak Norwegian aswell, and can say that the Norwegian language is everything but "barbarian". It sounds, indeed, millions times better than most of the American-English accents. So learn this language, and learn about Germany.
THis is accurate Hamsun meet Hitler to talk to him about how people in Norway was threated. But Adolf would not lisen and he came home. Hamsun was a great Norweagian writter, but when he said that he supported the Nazist he was nearly forgot.
Thank you for showing us this. This movie is my all time favorite. Hamsun was great man, despite what political correct history telling want us to believe.
Because the actor is Swedish. Max Von Sydow. And believe it or not, this movie is not a norwegian work. If this would have been norwegian, this would be a anti Hamsun movie, not a pro.
Why do they always play Ziegfried's death whenever they make a film about Hitler? It has become comical.

Can someone translate at lest a little bit?
I cant understand a word they are saying!?
What is it abbout?
I know that Knut was flaming supporter of the Hitler!
Why is he being sour at him!?
mfilip62 2 years ago
Hansun wants Hitler to win, but Hitler's deputy in Norway (Terboven) should be sacked for being too barbaric. Hitler is unwilling to comply.
In short Hamsun says: Win the war, but be nicer to Norway in the process.
machtrebel 2 years ago
Thanks!
But why is he being sour!?
Almost sam happened here,Italians stole our
shore(seaside) and inflamed civil war,we complained to Hitler and he promised to
chase them away,and he did!
mfilip62 2 years ago
Hitler's gets mad because he wants to talk about art and being a genius. And Hamsun is only interested in politics (having Terboven removed)

Fuck you too. I also love Germany. But the Scandinavian and Finnish SS were the best soldiers hitler had in Russia.
Im not saying German sounds like goats.....Caesar did! This is why the Romans called germans for barbarians, u idiot!
Ialocin85 2 years ago
barbarian is what Caesar belived the Germans sounded like. Barbar is the sound of goats.
who gives a shit about how they sound like, the Norwegian fighting in Waffen-SS proved the Germans that we were no goats.
Hitler and G¨ring looked up to Scandinavians.

Why is LSSAH wearing grey field unifororms?
The LSSAH had black unifroms and they used them at berghof. This is stupid. I hate it when they can not make it perfect.
low budget movie.

LOL.
Prost!
