  • its in there blood our dachshunds do it

  • haha mine is a dash/cocker spaniel mix and i taught him this but i guess its in his blood

  • hahahaha love the music. Sooo adorable!

  • My last dog used to do that and beg but the vet said not to let my new doxie do that. This is very bad for their backs.

  • sooooooooooo cute it almost made me cry, I had one just like

  • Why yes, he is sitting isn't he--i was lookin sideways--two beers to many, may b;)

  • if mine sees food he assumes the position

  • I call it "Pretty" when my dach Happy does this too! We just added a "high five" recently lol! Best breed of dog EVER!

  • My older dachshund, Sammy, can do this, but she usually does it when she's begging for food. Dachshunds are able to do it because of balance. Although, it is not good for their backs, seeing as the years go on, they can develop back problems, but that doesn't stop them from doing it.

  • How do I teach mine to do that?

  • my miniture dacshund does that all the time

  • so cute

  • Mine can do that too. I think it´s a dachs thing.

  • my dashhound does that too all the time when she wants your food

  • There is no doubt. This will bring on back problems for the Doxie and chiweenies in old age but in old age they usually lay around amd sleep anyway But let them go if it makes them happy. Life is short

  • my sister's mini Doxie did this naturally -- no one taught her

and she even taught my Chi-winnie how to sit up like this ---- before the chi-winnie would just stand up on her hind legs and kind of dance around, but after the doxie was around her a while, she too sat flat on her little bum -- it was amazing !

  • lO:o <== the dog standing

  • my mini does that too! and he'll do it for a while! as soon as i have something he wants he sits pretty before i even ask him to. how cute!

  • my dachshund does the same thing too, and we havnt tought him this he just did this standing position ever since he was a puppy. its so cute. so for those who said ths is fake. this is not.

  • My dads dachshund did this when he wanted something like a snack. I have 2 dachshunds and wouldn't trade them for the world.

  • Such a cute little puppy!!!

  • oh my gosh sooo cute and very long time to be standing great trick for dachshunds haha there so cute!! what is the name of this song?

  • Awwwwwww!!!!!!!! Such a cutie!!! I -3 her

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I love her, beautiful dog, sweet and loveable..I want to hold her

  • Kangaroo dog...cutie

  • Isn't that bad for it's back?

  • Please say name of the music :d

  • haha my dog weiner does the same :3

  • Ahhh, the song is hilarious with the video! Normally the song doesnt fit at all. How hilarious!

  • so fake

  • my one has never been able to do this she has a bad back and she's old now but it's so strange but funny seeing a long sausage standing on its back legs haha

  • Ours is like a MEERKAT.. he can do this for ever!!

  • mine can do that

  • JUST SO U GUYS KNOW, THIS DOES NOT HURT THEM! IT'S CUTE AND HARMLESS!

  • My dachs does this too but I push him down when het does that, it is bad for his long back, But it looks funny!!!!!!

  • i think this accelerates spine degenerations ESPECIALLY for daschunds

  • cute

  • Two things to say:

#1: I have a dachshund that looks just like that!

#2: she can do the same thing!

  • My dog can do this in 1 hour HA.

  • haha! That's so cute!

  • Must be a common trait. One of mine loves to do this.

  • (-: Great Puppy :-)

  • Our Doxie MAX he can do this too. He balances with his tail. Too cute!

  • my puppy brynnley, whos a mini does it all of the time. its her only trick, we call it meercatting!

  • i teach my dachshund it every day but he still doesent get it!

  • I've had six doxies in my lifetime, and I've only had two do this. And I can say that this will not hurt their backs. My red doxie did this for 13 years and never had any back problems. It was cancer that took him from me.

  • Aww she looks just like my, guy. Dachshunds rule! Best dogs on the planet

  • Even when this looks cool of fun you shouldnt let her to do that. That causes a lot of presure in the lumbar area and when they get older she could get a spinal condition and its a living hell for you both. This breed should not jump or get in 2 legs like that. I have 3 of them and i always deny this behavior.

  • @haterbla thats true, i have a dachshund too and the doctor says its not good to stand!

  • @zuleikini

yea if they do that they get hernia (sooner), same as picking them up wrong

  • My last two Dachshunds could sit pretty. But our current one Lucky cannot. But he does jump on people like your sweet girl did. He's always jumping on my leg when I'm fixing his food, It's like he's saying (While whimpering excitedly) "HURRY!"

  • Oh so cute and she didn't get agitation then she attacked lol. I love this :-)

  • I wonder why Daschunds do this. Mine use to sit around all day like this

  • @cmccrate Its a way of dachshunds wanting attention.

  • @cmccrate mine wanted and got a treat, for standing around lookin so neat.

  • @woojoke -- He's a cutie patootie!! Precious little guy...I could just love him up--awww--I miss my doxies...they were wonderful little angels!! :)

  • my sister's doxie Ginger taught my chiweenie how to sit up like this ...

mine used to stand up on her legs and kind of dance -- Ginger would sit flat on her behind just like that --- one day we saw Sugar (the chiweenie ) doing it just like Ginger -- NO one taught her that -- only thing we could figure out was that she had copied Ginger -- don't tell me dogs aren't smart :)

  • must be a dachshund thing. they get more upset when you don't pay attention to thme while they're doing it

  • that's not standing..

  • She's such a beautiful, bright eyed, talented girl!! Wow!

  • Haha my dachshund does the same but i dont let her do tht too much

  • give him the damn treat already!!!! haha

  • you shouldn't let daschunds do that they have back problems in later life and doing that is just going to make it worse, know your breed better and stop letting your dog do that or end up paying thousands in medical bills

  • cute and lovely, but he/she can have back problems because of it...

  • Now you're just arguing semantics for the sake of it, with someone whose 1st language isn't even english, mind you.

My point is that jumping, standing on the hind legs and sitting the way the doxie does in this video is going to hurt your dachshund in the long run, whether they can do it all day due to their athletic capabilities or not is, for all intents and purposes, irrelevant.

  • Doxies rulez! Mine also does that!!!!! They're so clever dogs!!!!!!!!! Love doxies!

  • Mine does this too whenever she has to go out lol :)

I highly doubt it hurts their backs because they do it on their own, and get down when they're tired or something. It doesnt hurt them in any way ^^

  • @mariahlovezyew

Dachshund also love jumping off of furnitures and sofas and they'd do it all day given the chance, nonetheless that'll hurt their backs badly and one wrong take off/landing is all it takes to send him to the vet, paralyzed. Your point again?

Standing like that is definitely going to hurt their backs.

Really and I mean REALLY, for your pet's health sake, do your own research if you actually own a Dachshund, they're a wonderful breed but they're also pretty fragile health-wise.

  • @RetrievingSearain Being prone to injury doesn't mean a dog is weaker. Yes due to their spine being longer and their shorter rib cage is is a point of possible injury. Does that mean its weak, no. Does it mean it can be hurt, yes. Still doesn't mean it is weak. We should all know what our dogs are prone to but never assume they're weak because of it. Humans are prone to dying, does that make us weak?

  • @mcmallow84

As dachshunds develop, the growing tips of their limb bones harden early, stunting their growth and leading to a type of dwarfism called chondrodysplasia.

In fact, this form of dwarfism (that's been latent in dogs for the longest time) has been bred into dachshunds, thus the smaller limbs. 1 of the downsides of this genetic disease is early calcification of the intervertebral discs. When they are calcified they don't absorb shock but will 'burst' if enough force goes through.

  • @mcmallow84

So yes, it's genetic and yes, it makes their spine inherently weak and thus prone to injuries.

  • @RetrievingSearain In all of this I think you've missed my point. "Prone to" and "weak" are not the same thing. If this dog was "weak" then I dont think he'd be doing this. Is he "prone to" injury because of his genetics, yes. Still too different things though. We should all know our dogs limits and health concerns but you cant just call a dog weak for what he is prone to. Dachshund are a strong breed in the ability to run play and make us smile.

  • @mcmallow84

Now you're just arguing semantics for the sake of it, with someone whose 1st language isn't even english, mind you.

My point is that jumping, standing on the hind legs and sitting the way the doxie does in this video is gonna hurt your dachshund in the long run, whether they can do it all day or not due to their athletic capabilities is irrelevant.

Their backs are fragile to begin with so it's the dog's owner responsability not to let them stress the living daylights out of it.

  • @mcmallow84

Your Dachshund's back is "fragile" to begin with and it's the dog's owner responsability not to let him stress the living daylights out of it.

  • @RetrievingSearain "Fragile" sounds like a more accurate description, though some would argue that its the same as "weak". I'll leave it at that since I doubt either of us can legally give medical advice to the owner. It is ultimately their responsibility how the dog is handeled and treated. I personally have a doxie and love her. She continues to entertain me though all these years. I thank the owner for sharing and wish them many playful years.

  • That is so bad for your dog they have week spines you should not do that.

  • @lindahone They don't have weak spines. They are just prone to back injuries due to their longer backs. This little guy obviously has a strong back and is adorable.

  • @mcmallow84

They do have a weaker spine compared to similarly sized breeds and are thus genetically prone to back injuries.

The weight distribution on their bodies and the short paws don't help either.

  • my lil doggie does that.. he just. sits there hes like "im waiittinngggggg" one time he feel backwards

  • it's not that amazing.... my dachshund dose that all the time and we didn't even have to train him.

  • THAT''S WHAT DUCHUNDS DO.. .MINE DOES THAT ALL THE TIME.. IT'S SO CUTE. HE CAN STAND LIKE THAT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME

  • This is fucking adorable, I have a big dumb smile on my face!

  • how did u train him 2 do tht i want my dachshund 2 do tht but he just jumps up

  • @Lindsaypoi our wirehaired dachshund just did it! He does it all of the time now if you don't pay attention to him!

  • @Lindsaypoi I DON'T THINK HE WAS TRAINED. SOME DACHSHUNDS JUST DO IT THAT WAY, MY DOG IS THREE MONTHS OLD AND HE JUST DOES IT..LOL.. HE STANDS TOO FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.. AND.. DACHSHUNDS, THEY RUN LIKE RABBITS.. BOTH HIND LEGS GO UP AT THE SAME TIME.

  • gay music

  • my dachshund sits up like that for ages til' he gets what he wants. sits on the floor, in a chair, on the bed. he has done it since was about 4 months old. he is now almost 7 and still does it. Especially if he wants treats.

  • aw :) mine does this. :)

  • MY GRANDMAS DOG DOES THISS ALL THE TIME!!!!!

  • mine does this too.

  • That's cute, but you need to discourage her from doing that a lot. It's hard on her back. A Dachshund has a very sensitive backbone. We had two of them that did that, they both wound up with permanent problems with their backs. Lucky is our third one he can't do that and I'm glad.

  • oh my gosh i WANT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha, awww, my dachshund does the same thing!!!

  • my baby cousin is watching this and she thinks its our Timber :)

  • As PRECIOUS as this is a vet told me NOT to train our doies to do that cause it's harder on their sensitive backs. Needless to say we stopped them from "begging" thankfully we were just starting to train them so it wasn't a habit at that point.

  • @PurpleSatin1 and its bad for their legs too !!

  • yea thats isnt really that much talent... I havent seen a doxie that CANT do that.

  • My Puppy Is a BreedOf a Dachshund and a Chihuahua!!it's So Cutee!!

but i wish it was a Plain Dachshund

    (:

  • Lindo demais!!!!!!

  • haha doxies one of the clowns in the canine world. ;o)

  • LOL.....so cute!!!! I have had dauchshunds my whole life and every one of them could do this... we never even had to teach them! =) She is adorable! Love the vid =)

  • MY DOG LOVES TO DO THAT

  • my dog does that when she begs for food

  • my beagle does that

  • What is that song?

  • my dog has done this for 5 mins. straight...

  • My dog Franky loves when I hold him straight up - it calms him down. I'll have to see if he can do this. Such a nice "champion" you have - cute song! Check out my Manny & Franky videos. They are my two rescued dachshunds from Georgia. I live in the Boston area.

  • That's cool! I tried to do that once but I fell over backwards. My mommy and daddy are continually trying to get me to do it again. Maybe Tooie could be my stunt puppy.

  • @applethedoxie You have a youtube account for your dog? LOL

  • @marxandkirbyrocks Umm, no. This is my account and I made it with my own two paws. Unfortunately I still have to get my daddy to hold the camera, since I don't have thumbs and all.

  • aww such a cute and talented doxie! When i make mine sit up like that hes just too lazy and slowly starts falling towards 1 side lol

    5/5

  • Kakilaclip, yessssss, they are th besttttttt!! Is really beautiful this dog, is amazing jajaja, almost one minute !!

  • Dachshunds are the best!

  • same but mine can also jump on his hind legs like a dance

  • My Dachshund doe sthat all the time!!

  • my dog could probably stand for 3 minutes

  • great balance! my dauchshund can only stay up for like 10 sec!
