I don't see why people are so negative about the film. Slumdog Millionaire was great, even if it did show India's poverty and slums. I think it made India look good with the character of Jamal being so nice, and there were not any stupid sexual jokes or pointless sex scenes.

It is true india is poor but i wonder why the director didnt choose to portray poverty in his own country or ne other country. Bottom line. Danny Boyle is a genius. He went above the Hollywood and Bollywood standard and created his own. He was respectful to his cast and the people of Mumbai throughout filming. He even promoted Loveleen Tandan to co-director even though she said it's not warranted. Slumdog Millionaire really showed India's underbelly and progress through the past decade. I blame media for making a fuss about everything. Otherwise, best movie I've seen since the Titanic.

It is poor in the respect that there is a HUGE gap in wealth, where a few rich people that have a lot of money, yet poverty is widespread across the whole country. I have to say that you are -not- like most tourists at all... the rate of tourism in India is expanding rapidly. It is an extremely popular place to visit, perhaps by people who are a little more prepared and willing than you to visit a third world country, and definitely by people who are more open minded.

I am from indian descent, even though I have never lived there, and I think there are tons of amazing things in India. But with a population of 1 billion, you can't always talk about the amzing things or even the bad things. Yeah that's right, you read correctly. He's playing a lead role together with Kiefer Sutherland in one of the biggest series in the world "24" with one of best actors in the world Kiefer Sutherland. I grew up watching indian n western movies and thr r tons movies made by indian directors.. none of them won oscars. It is true india is poor but i wonder why the director didnt choose to portray poverty in his own country or ne other country. Also Indian ppl are NOT COPYING anyone.. we are a mix of all cultures bc of our history of colonial and mughal rules so we r a total blend. Still we abide by our own cultures even after the country got ruled for hundred years.

Also, India is a very beautiful country with wonderful people. Even though they don't possess to much still they are far much better personalities then the westerners. I love India in those places where there are no plastic at all, or people collect them. Being a foreigner I used to travel a lot in the world, but since the first day I went to India, I have fallen love to that place and now there's no other place I'd like to visit over and over again...so please think about it from another angle

Bottom line. Danny Boyle is a genius. He went above the Hollywood and Bollywood standard and created his own. He was respectful to his cast and the people of Mumbai throughout filming. He even promoted Loveleen Tandan to co-director even though she said it's not warranted. Slumdog Millionaire really showed India's underbelly and progress through the past decade. I blame media for making a fuss about everything. Otherwise, best movie I've seen since the Titanic.

julesnewdisorder how is it my fault. Lets look at the situation. India has hundreds of religions. But the one religion that have caused a lot of problems have been ISLAM. Ever since we allowed muslims they have demanding lands, they been threatening India, if they dont get land they will terrorise India. They now have PAKISTAN, BANGLEDESH, NORTH KASHMIR. These are all INDIAN lands. They are humiliating the INDIANS. What the muslims want they get. And I am sick of it.

Just the idea of 140 million people peacefully leaving a single country is both impractical and implausible. All I am saying is that your efforts might be better spent figuring out how different types of peoples can live together, without conflict. Wanting all Muslims to leave will just help escalate the situation, and make it worse.

julesnewdis lets get real. There can never be peace. The damage as been done. The PEACEMAKERS have been the main problem. We had MAHATMA GANDHI who was a good man. A well meaning man. But he was very naive. He did not understand the tribal nature of the human race. 60 years ago they came up with the PARTITION ideology. They thought by giving land away to MUSLIMS and shifting muslims from INDIA to PAKISTAN will create peace and solve the problem. How wrong they were.

It is poor in the respect that there is a HUGE gap in wealth, where a few rich people that have a lot of money, yet poverty is widespread across the whole country. I have to say that you are -not- like most tourists at all... the rate of tourism in India is expanding rapidly. It is an extremely popular place to visit, perhaps by people who are a little more prepared and willing than you to visit a third world country, and definitely by people who are more open minded.

Completely agree with Amitabh. The OSCAR have completely SUCCEEDED in this award by showing only slums, people stealing shoes from the Great Tajmahal(primary tourist spot), resealing mineral water bottles, Begger Mafia putting oils into kids eyes, Kids jumping into human shit(Even though we are Indian's we will think multiple times before we visit Mumbai again, So Forget about Foreigners),. These guys didn't even show a single minute movie which reflects good thing about India which is a shame

I am from indian descent, even though I have never lived there, and I think there are tons of amazing things in India. But with a population of 1 billion, you can't always talk about the amzing things or even the bad things. This movie is just a reminder that every country has their bad points, and we need to fix that.

bollywood has been making movies for a long time and they had da chance to speak out on this and make a great and inspirational movie but they didn't and obviously they were never gonna..Danny Boyle didn't do anything wrong he just told da truth and we all know that India is a beautiful place but like every country it's not perfect NOTHING IS PERFECT IN DIS WORLD

I know this because I visited India in 2007 as a tourist, and the beggary, shit/dirt/urine everywhere and horrible infrastructure was disgusting.

i watched this movie .. i felt one good indian movie..and avarage ar rahman music...for award..if u exploit any thing on indaian culture then it ll be recognised by western world..if its agaisnt hindu culture then most world will accept it....for example..mf hussain..he insulted hindu gods openly by drawing them nude...he is doing good job every wer out side india..simply here not the movie or mf hussain is hit..only the intentin is working..same with arundati roy etc...
