this clip changed and it became my lifestyle in complete... long live the special forces & commandos all around the world, death to all the criminals and terrorist organisations!
SWAT or CO19 (MET police) also are a direct action team, they are trained by SAS to storm buildings, planes etc. as no country likes to use military on civilian population. alot of raids that CO19 do are credited to the SAS but its not them. :)
@steveirwinledgend Guess it`s a response to my comment so i will respond that no, swat / police rapid response units are not direct action units. SWAT needs to to rescue both the hostages and the suspects (though casualties are allowed but only if a SWAT officer`s life is threatened by that suspect) instead SAS or other military SF unit. Most of these units are neutralizing the suspects without warning (eg. Police hands up! and so on). They`re focusing on the hostage`s life.
Amy Winehouse dies, and theres a mass frenzy. Yet when John Macaleese dies, there's barely anything...absolute disgrace! The man was a hero and saved lives for gods sake!!
@XxCrazygal2007xX I totally agree. A celebrity who's done fuckall for their country dies through their own stupidity & there's a flood of media coverage. A man of true courage & professionalism who fought in the name of his country and his people dies, hardly a trickle. The media needs to get its priorities in order. May John Mac & his son rest in peace. If there is a heaven and he is looking down on us, I hope he knows there's many of us who are grateful & respectful towards both of them.
US Navy Seals cant dislike Britain saving hostages when they hand grenade a British journalist when they are suppose to be on a rescue mission. come back when you have a clue.
Love the SAS "locksmith" at 1:42, 'door's locked...use the shotgun!'
Also another two names of SAS guys that are known to have been involved are Robin Horsfall and Frank Collins, Collins was the first through the Skylight and apparently one of the best shooters the SAS had ever had.
@MyAnastasi wish i was in the SAS i would come and fuck you over, like that terrorist at the end who fell down the stairs he had 72 bullets in him. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
@ps3ultimateuk well dickbreath i dont give a shit what you think, and not that its any of your business i was born and raised in the uk,although both my parents are american so i have dual nationality
@mymymywhatagood listen up douchebag i have an iq of 152 so i think i know what i am talikng about,by definition SAS and SEALS are govt sp[onsored death squads who are only supported by morons, dickheads, and keyboard warriors indulging in homoerotic fantasies
@MyAnastasi Your IQ is 152, I find that hard to believe. Mine is 160. I'm very sure the people inside the embassy were very thankful for those "gov't sponsored death squads," as are all the vicitms families and potential victims of Osama Bin Ladin. I sure I'm not the only one who finds it humorous that you enjoy the freedom and safety provided by these men all while making comments on the internet that show your ignorance.
@steveirwinledgend Fucking amen to that, the SAS are the best unit ever! They've the most highly trained unit in the world. No one fucks with them and lives! I have the highest respect for anyone who is, or has served with the most elite unit in the world. They make me proud to be British.
@olrewindz first of all i think i said mindless moronic murdering twats which they are also becoz u live in a country does not mean u have 2 support the security services if they are in the wrong so im being logical you are fucked up
thatcher did a lot for britain lololol at least u have a sense of humour ,thatcher was spineless she cwied and cwied when her little boy was lost in the desert her corruption made her own family rich and ruined the country for everyone else but at least the bitch wont be with us much longer hell awaits lol
Maggie did a lot for Britain unlike the spinless morons they have in parliamnet today. She was strong in her beliefs She took no shit from nobody When she meant business, she meant busniess
britain used to be a gr8 nation but was fucked up by the bitch thatcher who hopefully is suffering now the uk is now 3rd rate and should mind its own business get out of iraq afghanistan and leave libya alone
You don't mess with the Brits !!! They have the best armed forces in the world. The SAS,PARAS AND THE MARINES.WHO WOULD YOU WANT FIGHTING ON YOUR SIDE WHEN THERE IS A WAR ON.Britain has always defended her self for centuries. They have one of the best navies, air force and army in the world
you really are an asshole hardly any country in the world has hostage situations and most of them dont even have thuggish moronic murderous twats like the sas so that fucks your point up you fucking idiot you are probably a sad little virgin who cant get laid so go fuck yourself sad twat
fuck you prick "dumbfuck" is not even a word. Your a fucking idiot go fuck yourself. i would love to fuck you over. you prick. i meant a hostage situation you prick
@steveirwinledgend first of all dumbfuck its spelled terrorism secondly it hasnt happened again on british soil try telling that to the victims of london on 7/7 i think you are the one that needs to get laid you sad little fag 18 supermen soldiers in the falklands and none of them could swim sad really
@steveirwinledgend you really are an ignorant fuck arent you about 2 years after the sas murders at the iranian embassy 18 sas soldiers were killed on the same day during the falklands conflict you could say they got TOTALLY FUCKED OVER then divine retribution perhaps
@anastasi69 OH AND YOU MENTION 18 SOLDIERS THAT WAS WAR, AND WAR HAS CASUALTIES, THE EMBASSY SEIGE WAS TERRIORISM. HAVE YOU NOTICED IT HASNT HAPPENED AGAIN ON BRITISH SOIL SINCE, LOOKS LIKE THE SAS DID A GOOD JOB IN KILLING THOSE WANKERS
@steveirwinledgend dumbfuck do u not know the freedom fighters involved were anti khomeini therefore thatcher and the sas were supporting the ayatollah fact eye witnesses said the sas murdered narmed men for which they should have been prosecuted as the uk does not have death penalty if i were a hostage i wouldnt want my ass saved by a bunch of murdering inadequate thugs with the iq of a pea as for harold1066 racism from a moron is not called for
@anastasi69 What the fuck are you talking about???????? The SAS only went in when the shot a hostage. I am British and I am very PROUD of our forces especially the SAS. I wonder if your opinion would be different if you had been a hostage and they rescued your arse??
The SAS are the best special forces unit in the world bar none. He who dares wins & he who fucks with the SAS ends up in a box. Great marketing for Heckler & Koch too. The MP5 is a fantastic submachine gun & the SAS are an awesome unit and deserve nothing less. God bless UK special forces!
@jackntilly gay song ? Thats a legendary band named EUROPE , so shut tha face and go away ...This song is very good for this video because they sing "The Final Countdown " ... In my opinion that song is ideal
i met rusty firmin (SAS trooper who participated in this) very nice guy and a great informative evening. Well worth going :) if you watch this rusty we are all proud of you
So much for being allies eh? I served for 23 years in the US military and have always held the British military in the highest regard. The British SAS and SBS are top notch. Then I come on here and see all these remarks about how lousy we are. Interesting to say the least. Oh well I won't change my opinion of the Brit military as the ones I have met don't talk bullshit.
@daufas It's good of you to say that, the US is a force to be reckoned with.
Some of us Brits do need to hold the American soldier in much higher regard, if a 14 month tour in Afghanistan doesn't show true grit then I don't know what does!
But Blue on Blue deaths conceded by American forces & the death of a British hostage by an American SF soldier does not shine a good light on you guys to the British public.
Both are a force to be reckoned with, Of course, the British Army is the best ;)
@CALLMETHEDADDY I wish I could argue with you about that incident unfortunately I can not , this is definitely something we should have left to you guys. Number one it was a British hostage which should have gave you guys top call on that and two the SAS is probably the top special force at hostage rescue. WE have had success but we have also had some fratricide on too many occasions. However as a whole I think we are a good military as well.
@CALLMETHEDADDY Now this is something we can both agree on, our governments being complete bollocks , The British government isn't exclusive on this one I can assure you. My own government does stuff that makes me scratch my head all the time. It is a normal thing rescuing your own men, it is absurd that government would tell you not too. When I was a Marine, we always said we would never leave anyone behind. THe SAS or SBS leaving someone behind, just can't see it.
@CALLMETHEDADDY Politics always gets in the way of military ops, but like you said the SAS took matters into their own hands and got it done. WE just had a huge turnover in our congress and they know the people are watching what they do. I worked as a field radio operator in the infantry when I was in the Marines. That was from 80-84. I joined the Army in late 85 after having been out for a year and was a paratrooper from 89-95. I retired in the reserves about 5years ago.
@daufas Talking of US politics, sorry to hear about the shooting in Arizona.
Sounds like you've had a good varied military career.
Have you been deployed to Afghanistan whilst in the reserves? I know our T.A have been out to Raghead country, but I don't know if Americas sent it's reserves out too?
@CALLMETHEDADDY What happened in Arizona is tragic, another nut job shooting somebody and killing several. The US has used the reserves alot in this conflict. My last tour of duty was in my reserve unit in 2004 in Iraq, I was a paratrooper in Desert Storm, that was a really fast conflict and taking over Iraq was not an objective then. I retired in early 2005. My old reserve unit did do another tour in Iraq in 2008-09 but I was not with them then. Did you do some time in the British military?
@daufas Unfortunately you have had a few odd gun nuts over the years there haven't you,
going into schools/colleges and opening fire.
I was going to mention Desert Storm, America certainly showed it's modern air superiority in that!
I'd love to say yes I've been here and there but I haven't, Yet.
I've just started an intensive fitness regime in preparation for joining the Parachute Regiment, I'm not unfit, but a bit of preparation wouldn't be bad a thing aha.
@CALLMETHEDADDY It does seem like we have had a few nut cases over here. It gives the Gun Control nuts call to take away the second amendment to the US constitution. The majority of the people are law abiding citizens who follow all the laws, but there always a few wackos, You have them there in the UK as well just not near as many. It's good to see you are getting ready for the Paras, the Marines and The paras was the greatest experience in the world for me everything else pales in comparison.
@daufas Ohh we certainly have had them, I don't know if it was aired in America, but we had a guy who went on a rampage, just walking up to people and shooting them point blank,
killed 12 people, unfortunately the cowardly bastard shot himself before the police got the chance too.
We have super strict gun laws here, and rightly so, stops the muppets getting them.
If I get in then, it will hopefully be a very exciting adventure! What do you think is next on the cards, Iran?
@CALLMETHEDADDY I am not sure we could invade Iran right now, our forces are stretched pretty thin. Also North Korea has made alot of racket also. Not sure what is next. your thoughts?
@daufas Yeah I don't reckon it will happen soon, if at all, I mean the vast majority of the public don't agree with this war, the government don't want to piss them off even more so soon.
I don't know, France? Or is that just wishful thinking ahaha.
@CALLMETHEDADDY France, now that's a tough nut to crack, I heard a poll recently that stated France is the most pessimistic country in the world. You guys have fought France a time or two in your history. France's GIGN , I am sure has done some training with the SAS and SBS. I know when the GSG9 took down that terrorist cell that hijacked a Lufthansa jet in1977, they had 2 SAS operators with them.
@daufas No love lost between the two country's, its traditional for Britons to poke fun at the French,
that and Germany of course (don't mention the 2010 worldcup).
I wouldn't be surprised if they did, the SAS have taught there expertise to virtually all SF teams in the world,
they even teach our police firearm teams. In reverse, the SAS take training from MI5 & 6 according to ex troopers, for counter espionage. They're top at killing but I guess they need help at acting aha.
@CALLMETHEDADDY That's the thing about rivalries and I actually saw that world cup game on the tele. I am more of a football and rugby fan then I used to be also. I am not sure how much our CIA trains our SF. I know in WWII our OSS (pre CIA) worked alot with your guys counter intelligence ring I think it was called SOE maybe. A colleague of mine is coming to Oxford Magnet for training soon. I may have to try to get there in the future as well. I would like to visit England sometime.
@daufas We played terrible in the World Cup. there isn't one English man who was proud of anything they did. I like how you called it football instead of "soccer" you yanks are learning haha.
I read in a paper today that the CIA have a secret army of thousands of Afghan paramilitaries who were tasked with "assassinating" Taliban targets, seems slightly far fetched to me but who knows.
You should do, I'll buy you your first British pint! I'd love to tour America again, back to Big Bear Lake too.
@CALLMETHEDADDY I was really surprised the way Rooney played during the cup. I have never understood why we call football soccer and why we call rugby with pads on football, makes no damn sense to me. It wouldn't surprise me if the CIA has an army of afghans , I believe one of their missions is force multiplier. If I get to England , I will gladly drink that pint and buy you one as well. I have been to approximately 27 countries and most beers everywhere else is stronger than ours.
@daufas@daufas Rooney was awful, & his attitude was even worse. There was such hype & hope that we would actually win the cup, we dominated in the qualifiers, goodness knows what happened, if you told me they had taken a dive I'd believe you. I'm glad someone agrees, your football is basically rugby but with safety gear. Nascar that's a great American sport! I'm not sure how strong ours is compared to American, I don't know what drinks you have there except Bud and Corona, or is that Mexican?
@CALLMETHEDADDY Well we agree on the terminology then and your right I was shocked I expected a stronger effort from England. Nascar is the fast rising spectator sport here. There is a Nascar track two miles from my house. My Step dad is a diehard fan. Corona is a mexican beer. I have drank beers from all over. The Germans make great beer. Guiness isn't too bad and I used to try some of the beer at a resteraunt called the Fox and Hound.
@daufas yeah Guinness is popular, there's a lovely Irish pub in my town, it's only small but it has a big open log fire, and it's right next to the beach too. You have the warmth of the fire in winter, the smell of the burning wood and your drink, it's fantastic. "Real Ale" is a big thing over here, if you find a pub that's part of the Real Ale club, then you know you've got a good one!
@CALLMETHEDADDY You live to the beach, that is fantastic, nothing is better than sitting by the beach and enjoying the waves on a summer night. You guys have real ale. We have some places over here that kind of follow along those lines . We call some of them micro breweries and they always have good beer. OUr law only allows 3.2% alcohol though. I really like German beer. When I was stationed there in the 80's there was a place called Kreutzberg monastery what great beer.
@daufas Two beaches actually, there's one on each side of the castle. I couldn't agree more, though in all honestyit's been ages since I was on the beach, when you live next to it you never seem to go aha. 3.2%? that is quite low, a pint in American terms is smaller than a British one as well isn't it. Britain has a terrible binge drinking culture, the worst in Europe. Seeing as you are legally allowed to over there do you own any of your own firearms?
@CALLMETHEDADDY That's pretty cool that you live near two beaches. I don''t think we really do pints here, The Aussie's drink alot also. I was there a couple of times when I was in the Marine Corps. Yes I own guns, I have about 4 of them. I still like to go target shooting and sometimes I bring my sons and sometimes my mates as you call them in the UK.
@daufas Ah I like to target shoot & skirmish, Of course we use airsoft guns for skirmishing, using real guns would most likely cause unessential injury haha. Being American I'm guessing you probably own some variant of an M4? I've got a L96A1 Rifle & just bought today a Sig 226, I used to own an M4. It's not as good as having the real thing but it's the closest you can get over here! Unfortunately It's pretty much as expensive as the real thing though.
@CALLMETHEDADDY I have a benelli shotgun, the civilian version AR15, a 308 rifle and some others. Airsoft seems like fun and it is less painfail than paint ball. I miss doing some of the military stuff like Close Quarters battle and building clearing. Still like to hunt too.
@daufas Ahh I'm jealous of your AR15. Civilian version just means it's only semi - automatic right? You should give Airsoft a go, it would be great for your kids too. Paint ball is fun but you don't get to use replica guns and whattnott. Yeah CQB and Hostage Rescue are awesome scenarios to play out, if you join a good airsoft site they'll have various scenarios for you to do, the one here does night raids!
@CALLMETHEDADDY Yeah it's semi auto. It's against the law to own a fully automatic weapon here. I would like to give airsoft a go. I could have alot of fun. My brother was a paratrooper also and I think he would enjoy it as well. The scenarios would be great. Even though I am retired from the military, it never complete gets out of your blood. I have had plenty of experience doing night raids. The British military did quite well fighting at night during the Falklands campaign.
@daufas@daufas There's a few Americans who come over here to take part in Airsoft competitions. Makes for some good competitive games! good healthy rivalry aha. YouTube -> scoutthedoggie he films all the war games at a place called The Fort in Scotland, that will give you an insight into the action. My sisters partner was in the Falklands, Did you hear about that Australian SASR soldier earning the VC? Brave stuff, shame other SAS soldiers don't get the recognition they deserve.
@CALLMETHEDADDY That sounds like alot of fun. Do you go to Scotland much. I think some airsoft games in the Highlands or in the Brecon Beacons would be a blast. I did not hear about the Austrailian SAS trooper getting the Victoria Cross. I think the only reason the SAS don't get decorated more is because they like to keep a low profile.
@daufas No sadly not, I'm technically half Scottish on my mothers side too so I should be a regular visitor aha. Now the Brecon Beacons I have stayed there, beautiful place, definitely worth a visit there if your in Britain. That is true, and the SAS work should be kept secret. We sometimes hear about an odd mission, normally a couple of years old in our tabloids, not often though.
@CALLMETHEDADDY I have Scottish ancestry on my father's side, and German on my mother's side. I believe the SAS does part of their selection in the Brecon Beacons. I also read to get into the SBS , you have to pass SAS selection as well as the SBS. I gotta hand to you those are some pretty rigid standards to pass, not for the faint of heart I'm afraid. This is why I don't talk stupid crap about the Bristish military as it just sounds dumb and immature to me.
@daufas They do various runs/walks with weighted bergens over the hills. It's quite demanding terrain there. It's a very small percentage that pass selection, a couple have even died during selection, which just proves every letter of the motto "We don't try to fail you, we try to kill you". Even if your top of the class, but they don't like you, you'll still get kicked out. Be The Grey Man is always the advise given. Then onto training! I imagine the Escape & Evasion part is quite interesting.
@CALLMETHEDADDY I read up on their selection, it is top notch. We have a school that our SF does called SERE school. I talked to a guy who made it through and he said it was very tough. I think being the Grey man is always a good idea, bringing alot of attention to yourself usually leads to trouble. Interesting motto the SAS has. How do you think the SBS stacks up. I would say they are pretty tough in their own right.
@daufas Your Delta Force currently works with the SAS in Afghanistan as Task Force 88 doesn't it? Along with the SEALS. Did you never feel that you wanted to try for the special forces? The SBS are less known to most people I'd say, purely because there shadowed by the fame of the SAS but they're a very tough group, they have they're own CT squadron just as the SAS doo. I know Royal Marine Commando training is already incredibly intensive, goodness knows how tough SBS training is.
@CALLMETHEDADDY I believe that is correct The SEALS and Delta are more than likely working with the SAS and possibly SBS units there. I have read books on both the SAS and SBS. Both are very tough indeed. I did think about going into the SF when I was a paratrooper, But I was already married with four kids and the 82nd Airborne kept me pretty busy. Plus the divorce ratye in SF is pretty high. If I wanted to stay married being a paratrooper was as good as it was going to get.
@daufas Yeah I think they are, they worked together as Task Force Black back in Iraq. I can imagine having a family and being in the regular army is hard enough let alone in the special forces. You certainly made the best choice.. not that you need me to tell you that.
@CALLMETHEDADDY The big issue was having little kids at home. If had just been me and my wife I probably would have tried out for the SF. I do have a great respect for those fellows. I did know a guy who left SF because he had gotten married for the second time and wanted to be home with her. I had known the guy for 7 years and he was hardly ever home. So I understood why he did it.
@daufas See that's the thing, being away from your kids. I don't have children so I can only imagine how it is.
I guess u must feel a sense of guilt too when you leave them. That's the appealing thing of joining the firearms team in the police, you get to go home. I don't know if you've heard of C019, but they're Specialist Firearm Officers are trained to an extreme standard, not so much in a military fitness manner but in marksman standards. Operation Kratos is a fine example of there tactics.
@CALLMETHEDADDY The CO 19 reminds me of LA SWAT We also have a group called the FBI HIRT teams which specialize in handling domestic terrorism, very well trained to handle situations here in the USA like hostage negotiation and hostage rescue. Our Delta Force would handle these duties for anything outside the US similar to the SAS and SBS as you already know. High marksmen ship standards are a must in this kind of work.
@daufas We have a few variations of armed police teams, C019, DPG, CNC & the spooks, all tasked with there own level of business. It's a long road to becoming a C019 officer, but it's a darn good career that I'd love to follow, but there's a lot more requirements academically. I've just watched a show on the BBC following 3/5 Marines creating they're own path through Sanguine avoiding IEDs, and pissing all the locals off by blowing up there houses & walls. IEDs are such a cowardly way to fight.
@CALLMETHEDADDY I thuink the high academic standards are also a good idea, you want some one who has the smarts to go along with the brawn. The 5th Marines have a pretty good reputation, actually all marines are generally very good in getting the job done. I am not a big fan of IED's either, Came across a few of them when I was in Iraq fortunately I was bcak far enough when they went off do they were not close enough to injure me. The Marines are really aggressive by nature.
@daufas That's very true you need smart thinkers, it's just the same within the military if you want to become an Officer. Even if you surpassed the academic qualifications needed you wouldn't get in, the Police stupidly aren't recruiting for a long time, you'd have a better chance of becoming the next King of England. As an ally that's something we can always count on from you guys, your desire to go hard and blow everything up to get the job done aha, which certainly isn't a bad thing.
@CALLMETHEDADDY Sounds like the requirements are really strict. WE got about two feet of snow here last night. What a workout shoveling my driveway this morning.Colin Firth is the King of England right now isn't he? Just kidding, your monarchs have an interesting history. I am reading two books on Winston Churchill your PM during WWII. I am going to try to catch some CO19 videos on here and some more SAS and SBS.
@daufas Snow, something this country just can't cope with ha, we got a lot over Christmas, it's like our kyrptonite. What part of America are you from? I really want to see The King's Speech! Looks like a really good film. Churchill is the greatest British man to ever live, this country could do with another leader like him. There's a few good CO19 videos on here, Have you heard of Ultimate Force? It's a TV series about the SAS created by ex SAS Chris Ryan, it's exceptionally good!
@CALLMETHEDADDY I am from what is called the midwest, I am originally from a state called Iowa, but now I live about 48 km south of Chicago in a town called Joliet. Snow is a reality here every winter but last night's storm was historic. I know who Chris Ryan is, saw him portrayed in a movie called bravo two zero. I have not seen Ultimate Force but I would like too, BBC Americas doesn't have it though. Churchill was a great man indeed, I also plan on seeing the King's speech as well.
@daufas Ahh Sweet Home Chicago (big Blues Brothers fan) I'm not sure about Joliet but I have passed through Chicago. Do you get much British tv there? We get lots of American stuff. I definitely recommend watching Ultimate Force, start at the beginning though, lets you get to know the characters, you can get the complete set on DVD pretty cheaply. If I can figure out a way to send each episode from my set over the net to you then I will. Well If you see it before me then no spoilers! aha.
@CALLMETHEDADDY The Blues Brothers , now that takes me back. WE get BBC America here, So I get some British TV. I saw DVDs of Ultimate Force but they play on region 2 DVD players and region 1 which is what we have. I am going to talk to Best Buy to see if there is some sort of adapter I can get.
@daufas Yh thats true. Though i do not think they were involved in the actual rescue opperation but they did hand a certain new technology invented by the SAS to their German counterparts. The stun Grenade, worked a treat and still does!
@Saxonsoldiers interesting, I thought I read somewhere that they were there as observers, the operation itself was magnificent, after the debacle at the Munich Olympics the Germans were never going to allow another disaster like that again.I've done alot of reading on both the SAS and SBS and one has to be impressed at how good these guys are. I drank with some Royal Marines and Scot Guards in Australia when I was a young US Marine. What a blast that was. They will always have my respect.
@daufas Yeah they were there for advisory duties only. It sure is a breath of fresh air speaking to an American who has respect for our forces. So for that you have my thanx. Most Americans i speak to seem to be only talking to Brits for one reason and one reason alone, for pissing contests lol.
@Saxonsoldiers That is unfortunate, sometimes we Americans forget that we are still a young country relatively speaking. The SAS and SBS record speaks for itself. Respect should be given where it is due. I served as a marine in the USMC and also a Paratrooper in the Army. I have trained with other military forces and I don't see any reason to disrespect any of them. There is alot to be learned if one takes the time to listen and learn from history. I find European history / culture awesome
@xBlack The S.B.S (S.A.S but on water) were actually 20 minutes behind the fleeing Osama Bin Laden but the American officers told them to back off and let there forces deal with him. They turned up 4 hours late. Nice one -.-.
Who would thumb this down. The sas are inspiring

MMoruzov 1 month ago
@MMoruzov sorry i disagree as i they are allowed to shoot if their life or casualty is at risk. direct action is needed

So much for being allies eh? I served for 23 years in the US military and have always held the British military in the highest regard. The British SAS and SBS are top notch. Then I come on here and see all these remarks about how lousy we are. Interesting to say the least. Oh well I won't change my opinion of the Brit military as the ones I have met don't talk bullshit.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas It's good of you to say that, the US is a force to be reckoned with.
Some of us Brits do need to hold the American soldier in much higher regard, if a 14 month tour in Afghanistan doesn't show true grit then I don't know what does!
But Blue on Blue deaths conceded by American forces & the death of a British hostage by an American SF soldier does not shine a good light on you guys to the British public.
Both are a force to be reckoned with, Of course, the British Army is the best ;)
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY I wish I could argue with you about that incident unfortunately I can not , this is definitely something we should have left to you guys. Number one it was a British hostage which should have gave you guys top call on that and two the SAS is probably the top special force at hostage rescue. WE have had success but we have also had some fratricide on too many occasions. However as a whole I think we are a good military as well.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas I don't understand why a British SF team wasn't tasked with the rescue,
apparently they were "consulted" but US commanders said they knew the area best.
The Prime minster thought it was wrong to overrule they're decision.
Very shamefully politics seem to get in the way with a lot of decisions,
like back in 2005 when an SAS team defied our Governments orders & rescued two of they're own men
Our military may be incredible but our Government can be complete bollocks, embarrassingly so.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY Now this is something we can both agree on, our governments being complete bollocks , The British government isn't exclusive on this one I can assure you. My own government does stuff that makes me scratch my head all the time. It is a normal thing rescuing your own men, it is absurd that government would tell you not too. When I was a Marine, we always said we would never leave anyone behind. THe SAS or SBS leaving someone behind, just can't see it.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Whitehall didn't want to knock political relations with Basra,
apparently that's why, basically a load of bollocks.
But the SAS did what they do best in the end, & sorted it.
Yeah I heard thing's aren't all that great over there,
the whole Obama & making a "huge change" thing hasn't worked as Americans thought it might.
This country just needs to learn to stand on its own two feet again,
a bit of common sense wouldn't go a'miss over here.
Did you specialise in a role in the Corp?
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY Politics always gets in the way of military ops, but like you said the SAS took matters into their own hands and got it done. WE just had a huge turnover in our congress and they know the people are watching what they do. I worked as a field radio operator in the infantry when I was in the Marines. That was from 80-84. I joined the Army in late 85 after having been out for a year and was a paratrooper from 89-95. I retired in the reserves about 5years ago.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Talking of US politics, sorry to hear about the shooting in Arizona.
Sounds like you've had a good varied military career.
Have you been deployed to Afghanistan whilst in the reserves? I know our T.A have been out to Raghead country, but I don't know if Americas sent it's reserves out too?
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY What happened in Arizona is tragic, another nut job shooting somebody and killing several. The US has used the reserves alot in this conflict. My last tour of duty was in my reserve unit in 2004 in Iraq, I was a paratrooper in Desert Storm, that was a really fast conflict and taking over Iraq was not an objective then. I retired in early 2005. My old reserve unit did do another tour in Iraq in 2008-09 but I was not with them then. Did you do some time in the British military?
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Unfortunately you have had a few odd gun nuts over the years there haven't you,
going into schools/colleges and opening fire.
I was going to mention Desert Storm, America certainly showed it's modern air superiority in that!
I'd love to say yes I've been here and there but I haven't, Yet.
I've just started an intensive fitness regime in preparation for joining the Parachute Regiment, I'm not unfit, but a bit of preparation wouldn't be bad a thing aha.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY It does seem like we have had a few nut cases over here. It gives the Gun Control nuts call to take away the second amendment to the US constitution. The majority of the people are law abiding citizens who follow all the laws, but there always a few wackos, You have them there in the UK as well just not near as many. It's good to see you are getting ready for the Paras, the Marines and The paras was the greatest experience in the world for me everything else pales in comparison.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Ohh we certainly have had them, I don't know if it was aired in America, but we had a guy who went on a rampage, just walking up to people and shooting them point blank,
killed 12 people, unfortunately the cowardly bastard shot himself before the police got the chance too.
We have super strict gun laws here, and rightly so, stops the muppets getting them.
If I get in then, it will hopefully be a very exciting adventure! What do you think is next on the cards, Iran?
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY I am not sure we could invade Iran right now, our forces are stretched pretty thin. Also North Korea has made alot of racket also. Not sure what is next. your thoughts?
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Yeah I don't reckon it will happen soon, if at all, I mean the vast majority of the public don't agree with this war, the government don't want to piss them off even more so soon.
I don't know, France? Or is that just wishful thinking ahaha.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY France, now that's a tough nut to crack, I heard a poll recently that stated France is the most pessimistic country in the world. You guys have fought France a time or two in your history. France's GIGN , I am sure has done some training with the SAS and SBS. I know when the GSG9 took down that terrorist cell that hijacked a Lufthansa jet in1977, they had 2 SAS operators with them.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas No love lost between the two country's, its traditional for Britons to poke fun at the French,
that and Germany of course (don't mention the 2010 worldcup).
I wouldn't be surprised if they did, the SAS have taught there expertise to virtually all SF teams in the world,
they even teach our police firearm teams. In reverse, the SAS take training from MI5 & 6 according to ex troopers, for counter espionage. They're top at killing but I guess they need help at acting aha.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY That's the thing about rivalries and I actually saw that world cup game on the tele. I am more of a football and rugby fan then I used to be also. I am not sure how much our CIA trains our SF. I know in WWII our OSS (pre CIA) worked alot with your guys counter intelligence ring I think it was called SOE maybe. A colleague of mine is coming to Oxford Magnet for training soon. I may have to try to get there in the future as well. I would like to visit England sometime.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas We played terrible in the World Cup. there isn't one English man who was proud of anything they did. I like how you called it football instead of "soccer" you yanks are learning haha.
I read in a paper today that the CIA have a secret army of thousands of Afghan paramilitaries who were tasked with "assassinating" Taliban targets, seems slightly far fetched to me but who knows.
You should do, I'll buy you your first British pint! I'd love to tour America again, back to Big Bear Lake too.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY I was really surprised the way Rooney played during the cup. I have never understood why we call football soccer and why we call rugby with pads on football, makes no damn sense to me. It wouldn't surprise me if the CIA has an army of afghans , I believe one of their missions is force multiplier. If I get to England , I will gladly drink that pint and buy you one as well. I have been to approximately 27 countries and most beers everywhere else is stronger than ours.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas @daufas Rooney was awful, & his attitude was even worse.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY Well we agree on the terminology then and your right I was shocked I expected a stronger effort from England. Nascar is the fast rising spectator sport here. There is a Nascar track two miles from my house. My Step dad is a diehard fan. Corona is a mexican beer. I have drank beers from all over. The Germans make great beer. Guiness isn't too bad and I used to try some of the beer at a resteraunt called the Fox and Hound.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas yeah Guinness is popular, there's a lovely Irish pub in my town, it's only small but it has a big open log fire, and it's right next to the beach too. You have the warmth of the fire in winter, the smell of the burning wood and your drink, it's fantastic. "Real Ale" is a big thing over here, if you find a pub that's part of the Real Ale club, then you know you've got a good one!
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY You live to the beach, that is fantastic, nothing is better than sitting by the beach and enjoying the waves on a summer night. You guys have real ale. We have some places over here that kind of follow along those lines . We call some of them micro breweries and they always have good beer. OUr law only allows 3.2% alcohol though. I really like German beer. When I was stationed there in the 80's there was a place called Kreutzberg monastery what great beer.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Two beaches actually, there's one on each side of the castle. I couldn't agree more, though in all honestyit's been ages since I was on the beach, when you live next to it you never seem to go aha. 3.2%? that is quite low, a pint in American terms is smaller than a British one as well isn't it. Britain has a terrible binge drinking culture, the worst in Europe. Seeing as you are legally allowed to over there do you own any of your own firearms?
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY That's pretty cool that you live near two beaches. I don''t think we really do pints here, The Aussie's drink alot also. I was there a couple of times when I was in the Marine Corps. Yes I own guns, I have about 4 of them. I still like to go target shooting and sometimes I bring my sons and sometimes my mates as you call them in the UK.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Ah I like to target shoot & skirmish, Of course we use airsoft guns for skirmishing, using real guns would most likely cause unessential injury haha. Being American I'm guessing you probably own some variant of an M4? I've got a L96A1 Rifle & just bought today a Sig 226, I used to own an M4. It's not as good as having the real thing but it's the closest you can get over here! Unfortunately It's pretty much as expensive as the real thing though.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY I have a benelli shotgun, the civilian version AR15, a 308 rifle and some others. Airsoft seems like fun and it is less painfail than paint ball. I miss doing some of the military stuff like Close Quarters battle and building clearing. Still like to hunt too.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Ahh I'm jealous of your AR15. Civilian version just means it's only semi - automatic right? You should give Airsoft a go, it would be great for your kids too. Paint ball is fun but you don't get to use replica guns and whattnott. Yeah CQB and Hostage Rescue are awesome scenarios to play out, if you join a good airsoft site they'll have various scenarios for you to do, the one here does night raids!
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY Yeah it's semi auto. It's against the law to own a fully automatic weapon here. I would like to give airsoft a go. I could have alot of fun. My brother was a paratrooper also and I think he would enjoy it as well. The scenarios would be great. Even though I am retired from the military, it never complete gets out of your blood. I have had plenty of experience doing night raids. The British military did quite well fighting at night during the Falklands campaign.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas @daufas There's a few Americans who come over here to take part in Airsoft competitions.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY That sounds like alot of fun. Do you go to Scotland much. I think some airsoft games in the Highlands or in the Brecon Beacons would be a blast. I did not hear about the Austrailian SAS trooper getting the Victoria Cross. I think the only reason the SAS don't get decorated more is because they like to keep a low profile.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas No sadly not, I'm technically half Scottish on my mothers side too so I should be a regular visitor aha. Now the Brecon Beacons I have stayed there, beautiful place, definitely worth a visit there if your in Britain. That is true, and the SAS work should be kept secret. We sometimes hear about an odd mission, normally a couple of years old in our tabloids, not often though.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY I have Scottish ancestry on my father's side, and German on my mother's side. I believe the SAS does part of their selection in the Brecon Beacons. I also read to get into the SBS , you have to pass SAS selection as well as the SBS. I gotta hand to you those are some pretty rigid standards to pass, not for the faint of heart I'm afraid. This is why I don't talk stupid crap about the Bristish military as it just sounds dumb and immature to me.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas They do various runs/walks with weighted bergens over the hills. It's quite demanding terrain there. It's a very small percentage that pass selection, a couple have even died during selection, which just proves every letter of the motto "We don't try to fail you, we try to kill you". Even if your top of the class, but they don't like you, you'll still get kicked out. Be The Grey Man is always the advise given. Then onto training! I imagine the Escape & Evasion part is quite interesting.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY I read up on their selection, it is top notch. We have a school that our SF does called SERE school. I talked to a guy who made it through and he said it was very tough. I think being the Grey man is always a good idea, bringing alot of attention to yourself usually leads to trouble. Interesting motto the SAS has. How do you think the SBS stacks up. I would say they are pretty tough in their own right.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Your Delta Force currently works with the SAS in Afghanistan as Task Force 88 doesn't it? Along with the SEALS. Did you never feel that you wanted to try for the special forces? The SBS are less known to most people I'd say, purely because there shadowed by the fame of the SAS but they're a very tough group, they have they're own CT squadron just as the SAS doo. I know Royal Marine Commando training is already incredibly intensive, goodness knows how tough SBS training is.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago

So I understood why he did it.
daufas 1 year ago

High marksmen ship standards are a must in this kind of work.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas We have a few variations of armed police teams, C019, DPG, CNC & the spooks, all tasked with there own level of business. It's a long road to becoming a C019 officer, but it's a darn good career that I'd love to follow, but there's a lot more requirements academically. I've just watched a show on the BBC following 3/5 Marines creating they're own path through Sanguine avoiding IEDs, and pissing all the locals off by blowing up there houses & walls. IEDs are such a cowardly way to fight.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY I thuink the high academic standards are also a good idea, you want some one who has the smarts to go along with the brawn. The 5th Marines have a pretty good reputation, actually all marines are generally very good in getting the job done. I am not a big fan of IED's either, Came across a few of them when I was in Iraq fortunately I was bcak far enough when they went off do they were not close enough to injure me. The Marines are really aggressive by nature.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas That's very true you need smart thinkers, it's just the same within the military if you want to become an Officer. Even if you surpassed the academic qualifications needed you wouldn't get in, the Police stupidly aren't recruiting for a long time, you'd have a better chance of becoming the next King of England. As an ally that's something we can always count on from you guys, your desire to go hard and blow everything up to get the job done aha, which certainly isn't a bad thing.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY Sounds like the requirements are really strict. WE got about two feet of snow here last night. What a workout shoveling my driveway this morning.Colin Firth is the King of England right now isn't he? Just kidding, your monarchs have an interesting history. I am reading two books on Winston Churchill your PM during WWII. I am going to try to catch some CO19 videos on here and some more SAS and SBS.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Snow, something this country just can't cope with ha, we got a lot over Christmas, it's like our kyrptonite. What part of America are you from? I really want to see The King's Speech! Looks like a really good film. Churchill is the greatest British man to ever live, this country could do with another leader like him. There's a few good CO19 videos on here, Have you heard of Ultimate Force? It's a TV series about the SAS created by ex SAS Chris Ryan, it's exceptionally good!
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY I am from what is called the midwest, I am originally from a state called Iowa, but now I live about 48 km south of Chicago in a town called Joliet. Snow is a reality here every winter but last night's storm was historic. I know who Chris Ryan is, saw him portrayed in a movie called bravo two zero. I have not seen Ultimate Force but I would like too, BBC Americas doesn't have it though. Churchill was a great man indeed, I also plan on seeing the King's speech as well.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Ahh Sweet Home Chicago (big Blues Brothers fan) I'm not sure about Joliet but I have passed through Chicago. Do you get much British tv there? We get lots of American stuff. I definitely recommend watching Ultimate Force, start at the beginning though, lets you get to know the characters, you can get the complete set on DVD pretty cheaply. If I can figure out a way to send each episode from my set over the net to you then I will. Well If you see it before me then no spoilers! aha.
CALLMETHEDADDY 1 year ago
@CALLMETHEDADDY The Blues Brothers , now that takes me back. WE get BBC America here, So I get some British TV. I saw DVDs of Ultimate Force but they play on region 2 DVD players and region 1 which is what we have. I am going to talk to Best Buy to see if there is some sort of adapter I can get.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Yh thats true. Though i do not think they were involved in the actual rescue opperation but they did hand a certain new technology invented by the SAS to their German counterparts. The stun Grenade, worked a treat and still does!
Saxonsoldiers 1 year ago
@Saxonsoldiers interesting, I thought I read somewhere that they were there as observers, the operation itself was magnificent, after the debacle at the Munich Olympics the Germans were never going to allow another disaster like that again.I've done alot of reading on both the SAS and SBS and one has to be impressed at how good these guys are. I drank with some Royal Marines and Scot Guards in Australia when I was a young US Marine. What a blast that was. They will always have my respect.
daufas 1 year ago
@daufas Yeah they were there for advisory duties only. It sure is a breath of fresh air speaking to an American who has respect for our forces. So for that you have my thanx. Most Americans i speak to seem to be only talking to Brits for one reason and one reason alone, for pissing contests lol.
Saxonsoldiers 1 year ago
