  • For the first question, YUL also has runway 10/28. To answer your 2nd question, this aircraft is landing on 06L which is actually the same runway as 24R. Since aircraft always must land into the wind, which runway as well as the direction they land depends on the direction of the wind. On this day, the winds were blowing from the northwest which meant that runway 06L had to be used. Usually at YUL, the winds blow from the southeast which is why most of the time planes land on 24R.

  • actually...the wind on this occasion appears to be more out of the east/northeast as the plane is sluing toward the right of the runway!

in the summer, the warm prevailing winds are from the south WEST...which is the direction of runways 24(l&r)

  • gotta love the 747's.

  • I think this is a good spot....just off the 13 right??

  • Actually this is completely on the other side near Pine Beach avenue in Dorval. It's a good spot when planes are approaching over Lake St Louis. But the road off highway 13 (Pitfield) has a very similar view when airplanes are approaching over highway 40.

  • what about standing on chemin st-francois

  • Yes, that is a good spot too. Specially to see aircraft landing on 24R.
