Although the entire C4C program was a waste, you are right about this at least being a vehicle with a major problem. If they managed to ruin a Jeep 4.0 engine, they must have been pretty hard on it. It would still be worth repairing though. Like you, I would have put in another engine and gotten more use out of it.

We're in tough times. People are making economic decisions that might make perfect sense for their situation. Consider that it costs a lot of money to sell a vehicle if it needs a lot of work. You've got to fix it up to where people will buy it instead of a similar vehicle in better condition. C4C offered the chance to instantly get $4500 without a lick of work. Maybe it was their best deal given economic uncertainty. I don't blame the traders other than for thinking this helps the country.

If this Jeep had "thrown a rod", the engine would not start. Throwing a rod means that one of the connecting rods has come loose from the crank or piston, this means that it is loose in the cylinder and it would instantly lock up the engine. Get your facts correct before you post a vid.

This one has a legitimate major problem, so it could be justified to an extent. You would not have to pay a fine for reselling one of these cars. The customer just wants their $3500 or $4500 credit for their vehicle. The dealership just has to allow the customer that amount, and not turn in that vehicle to the govt as a clunker car.
