  • Where both waze gps is free the good yes or no

  • I'd love to see a current shoot-out of GPS apps. A lot has changed since August 2009.

Any chance you'll do Round 2?

  • Keep posting videos #UN#.

  • I'm in the market for a handheld, saw some good articles on gpssatnavreviews (.) com

  • using the tom tom won't use any data right? because I'm getting the 200mb monthly plan.

  • Thanks for this info, because I am lost

On what gps that works for me and

    My iPhone.

  • mike, thank you so much! truly appreciate this video! it helped me make my decision based on my personal preference, in light of the categories you showed. again, thanks!

  • Another nice video. Thanks. Looking forward to your input on Magellan's iphone app.

  • I'm not buying a GPS, but i really enjoy your reviews, so watched the vid anyway.. Gj!!

    5/5 Stars.

  • what do u say about ndrive?

  • Looks like there's no USA version. If they come out with one, I may check it out. Thx

  • Hey Mike, I see that G-Maps has come out with a solution that covers US & Canada with these feature sets:

    - Real Time Traffic information

    - Text to Speech with spoken street names

    - Contacts saved in address book can be accessed directly

    - Music playback not interrupted by voice guidance

And much more; all for the great price of $70 (69.99). Now that's value! Looking forward to see your update video on this one. Thanks

  • This is their upcoming release, right? I know they're working on something that was supposed to be released last month. I'm not seeing the update though.

  • No, this is a app that is available now in the app store. Their (G-Map) is running a special now with the app saling for $40 (39.99). Maybe the reason why no update for the other version is because this offer is better for everone (others were a trail to test the water) IMHO.

  • W-T-F? Seriously? So, there's a new version called U.S. and Canada that has all these features, but they're not offering it the other packages? I don't get it. Or are there other updates coming? I'll email them, but it usually takes them two weeks to respond.

It does look nice, but annoyed it seems recent customers need to buy again.

  • man this guy is promoting gmap.... i rather navigon especially now with 1.2 version out.. i hate gmap

  • hey do you got to pay for using GPS in tomtom or navigon? just after you bought it. do you got to pay for it than?

  • I've heard that Navigon was coming out with an update for Traffic next month as an in-app purchase. Has anyone else heard about this?

  • Yeah, their Live service will cost $20 I think as a one-time. They said it would come out in October. Live also has other interesting functions, but not sure if those are coming to the iPhone or not.

  • @devastator771 I believe as it stands right now, the only way to run different apps in background mode is when it's jailbroken.

  • do any of them let you run other apps that play music other than ipod? because i love my live 365 app, lets me listen to thrash unlimited radio which would really suck if i had to turn it off to use my gps or vice versa

  • navigon allows u to control music and play inside the app

  • Navigon seems to be the better deal in my opinion. TomTom isnt saying much right now, but i think their really ashamed of all the negative reviews and is going to come out with an amazing update. Hopefully navigon keeps the updates coming and stays on top since i invested $69.00 in the app. It now has text-to-speech. NICE.

  • I was reffering to Navigon 1.2.0 in my previous comment.

  • You should do a review on version 1.2. Interested to hear about your opinion on their latest release. I enjoy your posts. Thanks for all the hard word and love watching your reviews. I also wish you would do more app reviews.

  • Yeah, I'll be doing an update for 1.1-1.2. I've been using it, and so far seems OK. The TTS is nice. It's probably going to be a week or so though. I want to test it more. Thx

  • The Navigon App update is available on 09-09-09:

    -Text To Speech voice guidance

    -Automatic Day/ Night adjustment

    -Integrated iPod control

    -Location sharing via email

  • THANK YOU! I've been waiting for a long time for a video comparing all of these apps to one another!

Although I still wonder why NO ONE (in the U.S.) has done a thorough review of CoPilot Live...

  • As of 9/2/09 the sale is over. The price now is $90 ($89.99). Still $10 less then TomTom.

  • Interesting it's not the announced $99!

  • Great shoot out vid Mike. I think I am still holding off to see what the updates bring.

  • really good overview

  • WOW nice stuff see this is why i love your vids, because of things like this....awesome vid and i know that this will help a ton of people....nice stuff again!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the review, great video, very professional. After watching, I think I'll take your advice and hold off a bit, I just wanted to get that $69 navigon before it goes up, but I am hoping TomTom addresses some issues.

  • I'll take your advice and wait to see what's to come.

    Great video. ;)

  • You mentioned that G-map offered a better value when purchasing East and West coast together. At the cost of $35 each, that's $70 not including Canada. While Navigon is offering the US & Canada for $70. This seems to be a better value. I'm looking forward to your updates.

  • Good point that G-Map doesn't include Canada, but it's only $20 more. Which still puts it below the others in the first year of ownership (Navigon promo aside, which ends in a couple days). The real value though, is you can just buy what you need. For example, I can't envision myself driving in Canada, and I live less than two hours away.

  • I agree with you completely with the deal of buying what you need (either East or West coast version) but G-map states at the app store that this ($35) price is an introduction special which could lead to a price increase. With that being said we have know idea what this may be. So with the $70 price tag just for the US (East & West coast), we don't know how much higher it will go after the sale is over. While Navigon has been up front with its max price.

  • I only mention this because the other 3 apps included Canada as a packed deal. AT&T will charge extra for data roaming in Canada with its app, but because the others are GPS this isn't a problem. So even if you drive there or not (Canada), the map is available at no extra charge---SMILE.

  • Great comparison on for great GPSs. Will you be doing a follow-up to this vid once the updates come out? BTW you didn't mention anything about how they handled phone calls or iPod intergation. What's your input/ opinion on that?

  • The last item in the run down address the interrupt. I think TomTom does it the best. I didn't do iPod since it wasn't a big deal to me at all, but the iPod does work with both TomTom and Navigon, however, it works best with TomTom. TomTom acutally mutes the music, while Navigon talks over it.

  • Oh, and yeah, I'll be taking a look at the next major releases from Navigon and G-Map. Maybe a week or so after they come out.

  • I'm still confused.... on which I should get :(

  • LOL I'd say hang on and see what updates come out shortly.

  • Best Work Yet 

  • im looking foward to seeing the updates..

  • IMO Navigon has the worst map graphics for actual use. Yeah looking at them sitting at your desk with the iPhone is your hand is nice, but on the road I find them useless. Can't even zoom in/out on the 3D map.

  • Kind of sounds like you're implying I didn't use it. I did. None of the apps let you zoom on the simulated 3D view, for those that do. You can zoom, but it takes you do a Google Maps style screen to let you look around them go back to navigating. I don't have a problem with that, and kind of like it.

  • Nice... Great video been looking for a good comparison

  • great vid keep up the good work.

  • Great video. Thanks for the comparison!

  • great comparison vid.

  • great video... like all your others such a good quality video!
