Oh guys, here's another fun fact. When Coronation St., Britian's Longest Running Soap Opera celebrated it's 50th Anniversary in 2011, they did a Movie about how the show began, and the biggest irony was that Jessie Wallace who played Kat Slater on a rival Soap Eastenders played Pat Phoenix who was Femme Fatale Elsie Tanner. The early episodes were reminiscent of Playhouse 90.
@travis082185 Bert & Meta Bauer Roberts would smoke while drinking Coffee at The Table. I saw this with my GL 60th Anniversary Coffeetable Book. Oh, isn't it ironic. Robert Newman (Josh), played Reverend Rutledge and also would marry Natalia & Gus. Nothing personal but I wouldn't want Josh to ever marry me, he's not a good role model for committment and marriage.
Good for you KenBoesem. I'm really going to miss GL when it goes off the air on Sep 18. I wonder what it was like for the Cast Members on it's last day.
Alex and Fletcher were "Involved" but since she was always doing something devious and lied, he got sick of her and they broke up. However, Alex had the same problem that Alan did, they were so "scarred" by their mother's Death and their father's Abuse, it was hard for them to have a success relationship with anyone.
I think GL should use this episode for its Drama Series reel for next year's emmys and Beth Ehlers should use this episode as part of her emmy reel for lead actress. This was an awesome episode.
i will always remember september 18. the day gl bid us al goodbye and the day i got the call that one of my best friends jennifer died. a few minutes into watching the last eppy of gl someone called and told me my sweet friend jen died. may you rest in peace jen
@travis082185 I meant to say Reese Witherspoon. Typo, sorry about that. My bad. Yet who should play Irna Phillips? I would love to see a scene where Shemar Moore (Ex-Malcolm) played Billy Dee Williams playing Jim Frazier and have another actress playing Cicely Tyson playing Martha Frazier.
Wonderful work by the cast. (Beth Ehlers, who plays Harley and takes on in this episode playing creator Irna Phillips, is spectacular.) They're game and inspired. As is the direcing and writing. Looks like a labor of love despite a limited one-hour period allowed in giving viewers a little bit of "Guiding Light's" thusfar 70-year history.
GL surprised me and produced a wonderful anniversary show: creative, interesting, and even educational. Now if only the regular episodes could be just as engaging...
She was a force to be reckoned with. Her greatest contribution was that that she helped create other shows like "Search For Tomorrow, Another World, As The World Turns, Somerset, & Texas." She also served as a Mentor to Agnes Nixon who would later create One Life To Live, Ryan's Hope, Loving/The City, and The Days Of Our Lives. and of course All My Children. She also had Bill Bell as a protege who would later create The Young & The Restless & The Bold & The Beautiful

It's funny how Irna feels about the giving the story realism, something GL lacked in the later years

marj's role shows an actor can still be effective by not talking but thru mannerisms and non verbal cues

Ken & Elizabeth Corday created "Days of Our Lives"
BadGurl404 4 years ago
Ken is actually the son of Elizabeth Corday, who created the show with her husband Ted. Ken Corday currently serves as its executive producer.

The Cordays created Days of Our Lives.

Agnes also did not create Ryan's Hope. That would be Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer.
