  • When I was a little girl we were always allowed to open one present before bed on christmas eve. It was always a new pair of pajamas. Now we do that with our kids but there is one twist. Santa visits and drops them off. The kids get so excited.

  • Dec.5, 1998: On a second date,( and my birthday) I went to the "Christmas Carol" play with John, who proposed marriage Dec,. 15, 1998. We're still married, quite happily. Every year, we either rent a "Christnas Carol" movie, go watch a new version at the theatre or a live play: That's our holiday tradition.

  • We have three kids, and when it comes to opening Christmas presents it comes and it goes so quickly. With our family of 5 being gamers of all sorts we started playing games on Christmas who ever wins the game gets to open one of their Christmas presents, and gets to pick the next game. We started this last year and it went so well we're doing it again this year. Thanks for the chance to win :)

  • When I was little we use to go all out decorating the house and going to church on Christmas Eve and open one gift before Santa came. This year will be an extra special year because we almost lost my mother right after Halloween and she Thankfully has got to come home but has not made a full recovery, but at least she is alive and with us to celebrate Christmas rather this is her last one or not we plan on making it a special one to remember.   • When I used to work in different types of residential programs for mentally ill, homeless, etc., I would always plan a big Thanksgiving meal and incorporate dishes residents wanted and I would invite former residents and their friends and families.

  • Starting with the first Sunday following Thanksgiving, we start the Christmas celebration with the lighting of the first candle of Advent. One December 6, we celebrate St. Nicholas Day. We then celebrate Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and ending with the 12 Days of Christmas following Christmas Day. We don't do much presents, because we like to keep the focus on the celebration and giving to those in need. Of course, there is also all the cooking, baking, and eating.

    As far as holiday traditions ours went away when the boys grew up and moved out.

    Now I just want it to be over because it is a sad lonely time for me.

    Winning a GC would sure make it better. Then I could buy myself a gift to make up for the ones I don't get cause I live alone.
