A few years ago... Is this the time where the power was out for a week and most of people's food spoiled in fridges? I also live in Ohio, around Dayton, and we were effected by it. We were in Kentucky, camping though at Lake Cumberland when most of it was going on. We left home without power. Made for an interesting morning trying to get ready to leave.
the only way stop the current flow is by CALLING THE POWER COMPANY N 2 SHUT OF DA GENERATOR DAT IS SUPPLYIN DA TRANSFORMER WHICH IS FEEDIN DIS CONDUCTOR
Looks like this particular 345KV line was one of those that went down and helped cause the 2003 Blackout. Initially I thought that this was a 138 KV line.
@p1harw66 Doesnt look like a 345kV line, those lines all have got much thicker cables and almost all of them have got 2 or 3 pair of cables for each phase for better current distribution. The arc from the line doesnt look big also,so i am guessing it is either 138kV or under that.If it was 345kV the current would be so big, that there would just only be a big bang hitting the tree and the breakers in the nearest substation or power plant would trip.
I remember the blackout. I was working up in st marys ohio when the power went out, came back on momentarily, then blew out again. That was something else...
YeeeeeeeHAW! 4 things to respect (as per my Great Uncle John):
1.) Electricity
2.) Fire
3.) The Ocean
4.) Firearms
While this list is of things that we often take for granted, they are things that can kill you quickly& in an awful manner. This video shows that electricity is truly beautiful to behold, but WOOOO! if you were too close, you'd have wound up worse off than that poor pine tree. Awesome vid, glad you got some $ for your bravery (I'd have been too far, far away to catch it). Thanks!
so much power going through the lines at that time they were overheating and expanding, therefore becoming much longer than usual (and sagging enough to reach the trees below)
any idea what the voltage is on this line? Is it 138 or 345kv? Sounds like this may be one of the faults on high voltage transmission lines in Northern Ohio that helped trigger the 2003 North American Blackout.
1:07 to 1:10 electric hum echos and syncs with the guy's car door beep.

I understand that fines to electric companies for not clearing trees from around lines has gone up, so hopefully this won't happen again.

why cut the trees? the power line can manage it self

I think it is 138kV because there's only 1 conductor per phase.
