  • @AaronEthier:

I've seen Rainbird nozzles on Toro bodies. I'm not sure how they do it, but as far as I know, you'd have to replace the entire sprinkler. The Rainbird 1800s are the best body you can put any Rainbird OR Hunter nozzle. They are interchangable. Optima and Hardie I've also known to have the same nozzle sizes, but your basic 1804 model will last forever. They're easy to repair and replace as well.

  • I remember they were around $7 for a 22SA at Lowes. Home Depot sometimes carries the nozzles themselves for around $5. They'll screw on to a Rain Bird 1800 series.

  • Buying at a wholesale store (depending where you go) can be slightly cheaper and likely have more options in radius and arc, Only downside is you don't get the nice colored dot on top to identify the arc (Yellow for Q, Orange for H, and Blue for F), plus most retail stores with them only have the 17-24ft radius in those three arcs. I get all my MP rotator nozzles wholesale, and if I'm going from spray heads, as long as they're rainbird, all you need to buy is the nozzles.

  • im puitting in some mp rotator nozzles mainly mp2000 and 1000 with the mpr40 nozzle, they cost a lot but compare the gallonage to a spray head and it can really pay off

  • I've seen the MP rotators as well and thought about them at first since I used to have Toro 570 heads. However, I was able to get the 22SA Unisprays already equipped at my local Lowes hardware store.

My friend, Cory, (known as RainJetSprinklers hear) has an MP rotator on a Rain Bird 1800 series head. We ran both nozzles to compare them and he says he prefers the Rain Bird nozzles over the MP since the MP rotator spins very slowly.

  • Oh man I love those! I'm an irrigation contractor myself, and those are some damn good heads for the cost. Have you tried the Hunter/Walla-Walla MP-Rotator nozzles yet? Those are even better than the Rain Birds.
