Hey there... been looing at your videos and you're great! I'm wondering, is that bouzouki the one from Hobgoblin? The short scale bouzouki? I've been thinking about getting one, and this ones been on my list... it sure looks like it if it's not!
I would clean up the drone-- too much of that F# or whatever it is, which takes away from the clarity of the melody line. For the drone, try riding only one note (D?) occasionally . Insipring-- I have an octave mando, and am learning this.
Ta se go breach! I love the playing. A nice mellow tone. I personally play a Trinity College. (I'm hoping to get videos soon!). This a great set. Go raibh maith agat!
are those the stock strings? I have a Hora zouk and have just recently ordered new strings, but it currently horribly twangy compared to this. Then again, it may be my playing, just wondrin'. Great zoukin'!
Slainte, Davito. Actually, to be perfectly honest, I'm not at all sure what brand of strings these are. They aren't stock, that much I know. The last time I replaced them was December of 2006, so they've had some time to become dangerously prone to snapping and will need to be replaced soon.

nice version: You play more complex versions of parts 3 and 4 to those I know. I'll have to listen harder!

Actually, this is a Hora 'octave mandolin I have strung bouzouki. It's a full-scale.

Agreed. I listen to your vids all the time, by the way. (The drone is an A, I'm sure.)

No, I mean tantoonie's, even though I obviously despise him for his freakish talent. ;-)
But I'll listen to yours wherever they are, too...

is the bouzouki played the same as a mandolin?
slimpickensrx 3 years ago
No. Usually different tuning and a much longer scale length.
sopwith74 3 years ago
But both are usually tuned in GDAE so it's generally the same.
(Please don't kill me!)
tordyveln 3 years ago
you're right, although you can tune it GDAD too.
I just bought one and am trawling youtube for good songs to learn!

wow, you play that quickly! sounds amazing.

Thanks kyle25. I've come to realize recently that speed is definitely not everything, but when it works with tune, it can be a good thing.
