FABULOUS! I loved every note and nuance of it. This man is a monumental musician. Sometimes we get so hung up on historical context when it comes to playing music that we forget the true art of performance which is passion. This man loves what he just played, and that's why we loved hearing it. Who gives a damn if it sounded baroque or not. It sounded fabulous and that's all it is to it. BRAVO!
George Frederick Handel's dad wanted him to be a lawyer but he felt much more called to be a composer despite his dad's attempt to keep him separated from anything to do with music...but the younger's strong will prevailed and thanks to that, we have this, the Halleujah Chorus, the hymn tunes Antioch and Judas Maccabeaus and I've enjoyed listening to this version of Hornpipe...
I get excited every time I see and hear Mark play on thie great organ in the choir loft. He really enjoys playing as much as I enjoy listening to him. No sheet music in front of him either. Wonderful!
It's just as fun listening to this piece as the pure enthusiasm you have for both the piece and the instrument!! Thank you for posting this! I've enjoyed your other videos also!
What a super performance of this great Handel work. I would have liked to hear a softer middle section to contrast with the opening and closing trumpet fanfares. You have a super instrument with majestic trumpets. Thank you for this most enjoyable post.
Very well done! Thank you!
