if you look on the Gary Portnoy website it says that this theme song was was from a failed Pilot called "Jennifer Sleeps Here" it was about a ghost of a former movie star who reappears to help a teenage boy through problems.

Hence Every Time I Turn Around...like when a ghost creeps up on you. they only changed a few words and it was a good fit for Punky Brewster.

Ever since Punky and her eventual reduction, Soleil has only picked up dark roles (including Friends and Sabrina, if you read the subtext of the characters hard enough). Even after the baby, she still looks like a freakin' weapon!
