This is quite an impressive animation. I think I saw a real blue jet once, it was a spurt of light that shot out of the top of a storm for quite a distance upward, faster than the blink of an eye.
Probably. To see any of these high-altitude lightnings, you need to get far enough away from a storm cloud to see the whole thing, then watch the top veeeeery carefully
Yes. Probably a blue jet, but it also resembled something called "rocket lightning" that I believe I've also seen. That time it was from the bottom of a storm. I saw a fast-moving bead of light, following a dimly illuminated straight-line path toward the ground, like a tiny ball in a straw. It appeared to end at the horizon, but the thunder was quite loud.
LOL punny, computer graphics sprites of lightening sprites!

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!! It looked artificial as if it were made in a movie. Is this real footage?

That's a computer simulation of a real phenomenon

To be more precise, search "blue jet", "red sprites" and "elves" on google.
Canapin 4 years ago
@Canapin Is there a video of elves(lightning)? I've been searching around and couldn't find any. I'd really like to see one.
If you anyone has a link be sure to send it to me ^^

@yxtee
I didn't find that.
There are some pictures taken from recorded elves, but not the video itself.

@casarrubius No. It's CG. Very good CG, at that.

These above-the-cloud 'megalightnings' are about 3 times the length of the island of Manhattan. Yikes!
