@evantwake - First and foremost the WBC, which should be forcefully closed and their members imprisoned for hatespeech. If racism is punishable by law, the hate they spew out should also be. But they are hiding behind religion to justify and legalize their hate, which is a general problem with american society that seems to get worse and worse. At this point, religious fundamentalism in the US has reached such a point, that the US is a bigger threat to the world than any other group.

Still hategroups like these are allowed to spew their bile openly, because in america you only seem to need to say the word "faith" and you get a free pass. The rest of american society are basically enablers and therefore just marginally better than the human waste that is WBC.

@evantwake - From the outside it seems like the american religious fundamentalism is getting worse. We hear stories of children being force-fed lies disguised with a pretty word like "creationism", there's the fact that personal religion is an informal requirement to hold any high level elected position, you see stories of kids being sent to juvenile prison for stating opinions on their T-shirts... And I'm not even gonna mention the obvious fascism in american politics.

@evantwake - Last one, promise :) For all the chest pounding we hear from americans, there sure seem to be a lot of flaws with their system. The highest poverty rate in the western word, the highest illiteracy rate, the largest gap between rich and poor, the lowest rate of higher education in the western world, the highest rate of "believers" (85% religious people as opposed to about 15% in europe) etc etc etc. And again, america is a fascist (corporationist) state, not a democracy.

Spirituality is important to me (values and all), but what "hate" groups do with belief and faith is completely ludicrous. I think that religion should not be involved in politics--plain, and simple.
