There's metal music because it originates from Scandinavia which is where the Vikings are from. Also, there's even a genre of metal called Viking metal which is obviously influenced by peoples' notions of the Vikings. Also...Vikings are just badass and so is metal...

Its only a single player game, but I was satisfied with it. It was one of the first XBOX 360 video games I bought. I hope a Viking 2 comes out.

@Lunzium not not the language sorry for not being specific, the way they sang was such, and alot of norse themed death metal bands will refer to it, its quite interesting actually if you really look into it, another reason on a less historical note is simply because the tales of the heros, theyre all told as to sound very epic so powermetal bands like manowar and hammerfall can play off that easily then theres the cultural aspect of death and war so death metal can relate aswell

Yes they we're raised with a sword and shield in hand (or axe or spear lol) so therefore you can argue they we're more warriors than the so-called soldiers who were meant to protect the areas they raided/conquered. in all truth vikings are not only norse. Viking is not a specific people it is simply something they did. Norse, Danish, old tribes of Ireland, and other parts of Britannia all went a viking, which meant to raid from the sea. The Norse and Danish were simply the most common.

On a side note, one could say that these viking quests didnt end atfter the convertion to christianity, all the scandinavians just had to target the "heathen" countries in the east like findland, lithuania etc etc

Yes they we're raised with a sword and shield in hand (or axe or spear lol) so therefore you can argue they we're more warriors than the so-called soldiers who were meant to protect the areas they raided/conquered. But but but, most of them were farmers first, then when the springtime came they went in viking (sailed out to plunder and gather fame and riches) but when they came back they had to harvest their crops etc.

@Lunzium soooo people in viking times didnt have to labour and tend to their crops...? they just took off for months at a time and by magic their crops tended themselves. Norse farmers didnt usually have a battalion of servants and slaves to care for their lands when they left. Do you actually think a multitude of crop requires no care or attention. Their is also a good chance they'd die, and willingly as well, it being an honour by the gods. Pointless to plant dieing crops and then die yourself

Yes you will alwyas hear of bad things done by the vikings in a christian funded school, because after all christianity is responsible for killing masses of pagans all because they worshipped nature but i bet they dont look down heavily upon that in history class, the vikings were great warriors and traded with the native indians long before the british even knew of America. they were told to convert to christianity or be beheaded, it was not all voluntary.

The only Vikings are now Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Back in Viking days, it was all tribalistic and not really a country. Later as Christianity came a king from modern Denmark conquered all of Scandinavia and spread the vile christianity. All scandinavians are of Viking blood and no other people did anything (from fighting to raiding) as well as the Vikings. in all truth vikings are not only norse. Viking is not a specific people it is simply something they did. Norse, Danish, old tribes of Ireland, and other parts of Britannia all went a viking, which meant to raid from the sea. The Norse and Danish were simply the most common.

I dont want to have a big discussion on youtube but your only partially right. Other nations raided and vikings having colonised other places raided, however it is the norse raiders carrying the name Viking. The Norse people is another way of talking about todays Scandinavian people so it is a race however it is also a lifestyle other people adopted in England and Normandy especially. You're right however when you say not all vikings are norse, since Christian vikings still raided for some time.

Not really. Only Scandinavians are dubbed Vikings. Although Scottish, Pictish, Irish and some Slavic tribes went raiding, Viking refers to Scandinavians only, a name given to them after the Viking age. During the Viking age they were referred to by specific tribes and most western Vikings were called Danes, and Swedes in the east were Varangians. Also, Norse refers to a specific tribe of people near the Vik in Norway. Finally others raiding was very close to their country, unlike Vikings.

As much as I love the song, I have to question WHO exactly the viking are killing in the song.
If they're going against other warrior then thats wonderful, but if this is another song that thinks the Asatru are a bunch of savages who actually followed the beloved stereotype "rape, maim, burn" then all its doing is enforcing the wrongful christian propaganda that all we do is drag civilions into our battle lust which every child of odin knows is the gravest of herecy.
