hold home and power for 30 seconds while the phone is off. The phone shouldboot up. Resotre to regular 2.0. Then re etner DFU mode, and restore to custom IPSW

error 1604 means u must in DFU mode. first u turned off your device then hold home and sleep button together then start counting 10 seconds and unhold the sleep button and while keep holding home button until itunes recognized it as recovery mode then thats the time you stop holding the home button. DFU mode must no display on your iphone screen.

you need to get it into dfu.... be sure the device is off... then plug the ipod into the computer at the exact same time that you hold down the home button. do this and you will put it into dfu mode no matter what. then restore via itunes.

bah Not sure if im doing something else wrong or not, but i followed your instructions on DFU mode on this video description, and also by the link (which instructs to wait 10 seconds not 7). Anyways, ive tried twice with ur instructions on DFU mode, and 6 times the other dfu instructions from the link u provided... I still get error 6 (yes screen was black, until it started working the restore, my iphone3g screen would turn white). My iphone3g ver is 2.0, itunes is 7.7.0.43. Is that the prob?

It says that modifing the phone will void the warrenty. Somehow , one of the apps messed up the phone(girlfriends original iphone) to where I couldn't repair it, we sent it in and they wiped it and restored it to original factory defaults. So even if the phone gets messed up, you may be lucky enough to have Apple fix it for you. We were, they were really nice about it :)

Fix#1: Use a different computer

Fix#2: Close all related itunes programs and try again

Fix#3: Uninstall all related Winpwn files and delete the folder in /Appdata/Roaming. Then reinstall it
