  • @xaminexmusicx

  • @VampireHearrt Thanks, Ken

  • Oh wow! This is amazing!!

  • @poshwanders06

    I appreciate your comment. Ken

  • How did you apply the vanes of the leaf again? Im using crayon watercolor for a leaf im drawing and Ive tried doing your trick with the edge of my brush but its not giving the effect, what do I do???

  • @ProjectNightmare1993 While the leaf is still quite damp I use the beveled end of my brush. Some people use a credit card, but I have more control my way. You can find flat brushes with acrylic handles that are beveled on the end. I suggest painting an area on scrap paper and practice - that way you will learn the right time to scrap out veins and get use to using the bevel. I haven't tried it with watercolor crayons, good luck.

  • thumbs up too for the dog

  • @Rdthemanify I know, if it wasn't for my dog it would be much less interesting.

  • i wish i wasnt colorblind :(

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n

In your case it's very important to work with different values.

  • THUMBS UP FOR DOG SNORING XD!

  • wow. amazing. you make it so easy!

  • @MeganDianaYoung

Thanks, like anything else the more you practice the more comfortable you become with the medium. Ken

  • @MeganDianaYoung

Thanks, have patience, put the time in and you will be surprised.

  • Do you recommend wetting the paper first?

  • @BlueRoseArt

Thanks for taking the time to see my video, hope to do more in the future.

For the leaf I didn't wet the paper first, it's a small enough image that I just start right in with a loaded brush and work my way down from the top of the leaf working left to right and keeping it puddled to avoid hard edges.

If I find i have to much of a puddle when I reach the bottom I just pick it up with a paper towel or dry brush.

Pre mix the colors you want to use and have fun. Ken

  • :D Thank you! I'm new to watercolor. I am going to try this. I know you helped me with tips. Your leaf is amazing!

  • Hehe, the cute dog at 0:02 has the same name as me. If you can't understand what he said, he said "This is Sadie."

  • cute dog at 0:04

  • Hey, anonymous, I've found oil pastels to be a bit messy, too. That's one reason I prefer using oil paints and brushes. Best of luck to you in all of your artistic endeavors!

  • I know, alec... amazing what can be done with a few spritzes of water, isn't it?!

  • @artistchronicle hey im a beginner i know how to perfectly draw using pencil and thankfully im talented, but im learning how to paint but i just simply cant its so hard and my work turns super messy

im using oil pastels, its the only type i can use

  • Excelente !!!

  • I prefer tubes over cakes. As you notice in the video I use a fairly large palette with a large mixing area. Also, the palette comes with a cover which helps keep paint soft and any dust particles from mixing with your washes. Before I start a session I spray my paints with a small water bottle. Hope this helps. Ken Hobson

  • Great Video!!

  • thats so good! i just now started to use watercolors from the tube [before i used little paint cake things] and im not yet comfortable with them. are the paints being used designed to sit out? my left over puddles dry and cant be used anymore!

  • My daughter just started as an art major at Art & Design in New York. I will definitely show this to her. Thanks for sharing.
