At 3:31 at the end of the note, you hear a strong vibrato. It is not in the studio version, but live version has that. He does that same vibrato in St. Petersburg concert. It's not there in the suspected "lipsync" (live in Shanghai with the big costume).
it may not be a playback because if you have listened to his song and live for many many times you will find that he have lots of breath sound when singing normally. but his voice will always be so pure, clear, amazing, breath taking and beautiful when he reach high pitch. watch it clearly with an open mind but do not stress up yourself. You will find out that there is many part which can prove that it is not lip syncing.
@b4rf3r just see videos from the rehearsals! he sings beautifuly, i really pity him , he even moves his mic countless times at the concerts to prove it's not playback or lip sync or whatever, many people accused him because he is musical genius. personally i dont like many of his songs because they are too corny for my taste, but few of them are just marvelous, especially when he sings classic pieces, ophera pieces etc. I just admire him, he should be much more famous !!

Recently he's been singing the main verses of Opera 2 and The Star in a different way at some festivals. He seems to be saving up his voice for the chorus which sounds almost the same.
U may check out some videos about him in shows ( not concert) in Russia. He usually lip sypc there and u can discover that his lip sypc skills are actually poor. We can easily know he is not singing live if he really lip sync in this lovely song lucia.

I have an HD Upscaled version on my uploads, and while I think it may be live, so many people have commented how they think it was lipsynced. As a female choir soprano for 7+ years I know that it's almost impossible to keep a steady voice while dancing around, and it's even harder to keep a high note going for that long at the same time. The higher the note, the more air you use. The more you jump around, the less oxygen you have to work with. Doing both at the same time...well most mortals can't do it.
@VioletRosePetal But note how he moves, he's not bending his torso at all, it stays rigid, while the legs and arms flail around in a limited manner. Also he is a man, in good health and fitness and also he's not one of those regular mortals :-)

What makes Vitas so exceptional is not only his great voice but also the fact, that he always sings live ;) Just watch the part at 3:35. There he puts the mic on his lips a lil bit later, so you can also hear his voice with a moment of delay. Real talent don't need no lip sync :)

You know, I'm not sure this is a 100% lip sync. At 2:35 in the video you hear him breath, and at 3:35 he comes in a bit late. There is no doubt though that parts of it are not him live, which I must say is a bit disappointing. This is the best live version I've been able to find though. All the rest are 100% lip syncs.
Hmm, I'd like to add that I think it matters greatly whether this is playback or not, cause with the studios nowadays anybody can be a good singer with all the digital corrections and stuff. Love the song though, but it's kinda lame to playback.

I don't think he's starting a beat off. If you listen to the original version, you can clearly hear he does that on purpose. But at 2:32, he sings it off-time.
well if you listen to the studio version, he sings that part like "sa-a-faaa" to go along with the rhythm, there's like a pause or skip with his voice. Here, it's smooth, like "saaafaaa" if you know what I'm talking about, those aren't real lyrics just vocalization.
And I am certain that 3:35 is the same as the studio version... It's just this whole half of the song is more muffled in the studio version so it sounds like his vocal fades in, but it still starts at the same place.

At 3:31 at the end of the note, you hear a strong vibrato. It is not in the studio version, but live version has that. He does that same vibrato in St. Petersburg concert. It's not there in the suspected "lipsync" (live in Shanghai with the big costume).

it may not be a playback because if you have listened to his song and live for many many times you will find that he have lots of breath sound when singing normally. but his voice will always be so pure, clear, amazing, breath taking and beautiful when he reach high pitch. watch it clearly with an open mind but do not stress up yourself. You will find out that there is many part which can prove that it is not lip syncing.

@b4rf3r just see videos from the rehearsals! he sings beautifuly, i really pity him , he even moves his mic countless times at the concerts to prove it's not playback or lip sync or whatever, many people accused him because he is musical genius. personally i dont like many of his songs because they are too corny for my taste, but few of them are just marvelous, especially when he sings classic pieces, ophera pieces etc. I just admire him, he should be much more famous !!

it looks like playback during the aria, but who knows, this guy IS amazing. He could be lip singing or may be he's so good he sounds just like the record. I know its not lip singing after 2:20, thats for sure.

U guys can watch Nessun Dorma live in2009 concerts. He could still sing extraordinarily well. Anyway he definitely can perform live PERFECTLY!

@forvitas nobody says he cant, that doesn't mean he doesnt have assit sometimes, the human voice is not like a guitar, it changes with age, nobody says he cant still do it, just that sometimes he needs to have an assist to do justice to what he has recorded, hes not superman, theres no need to pretend he is, he is still the greatest of our age

@forvitas You should also watch Mommy and Son live. He sings it as beautiful as the original but very different so it's live.
Recently he's been singing the main verses of Opera 2 and The Star in a different way at some festivals. He seems to be saving up his voice for the chorus which sounds almost the same.

U may check out some videos about him in shows ( not concert) in Russia. He usually lip sypc there and u can discover that his lip sypc skills are actually poor. We can easily know he is not singing live if he really lip sync in this lovely song lucia.

@forvitas that is true, i noticed how bad he lip syncs on the beijing olympics, i agree he is singing live on this for the most part, maybe all of it, but if i were gonna have an assist i would have it when the camera ia far away, like it is a lot in this, any way who cares he is epic and can clearly perform like the CD if he wants, the fact he has proven to lip sync just means he sometimes chooses not to, not that he cant

@forvitas Hmm I'm not sure about Lucia live in Shanghai 2009. I have an HD Upscaled version on my uploads, and while I think it may be live, so many people have commented how they think it was lipsynced. I don't blame him if he did though, he was wearing a heavy costume. It's a really odd video though, he appears to breath in at one part where the note comes out.

I think he was performing live here. Perfection doesn't mean lip sync. I dunno y people would regard this excellent performance as lip sync. What a pity! The truth is that he really has the ability to sing like this.

and does anybody even consider the fact that he is half and halfing it?? he probably is singing live but he is clearly assisted on certain parts and thats fair.
people have to sometimes in order to properly represent the work they have already made.
acting as though having a great voice makes vitas more than mortal is to ignore the fact he is a very hard working normal person like any of us, he is very talented in certain respects and worked tirelessly to change talent into exceptional skill

As a female choir soprano for 7+ years I know that it's almost impossible to keep a steady voice while dancing around, and it's even harder to keep a high note going for that long at the same time. The higher the note, the more air you use. The more you jump around, the less oxygen you have to work with. Doing both at the same time...well most mortals can't do it.

@VioletRosePetal But note how he moves, he's not bending his torso at all, it stays rigid, while the legs and arms flail around in a limited manner. Also he is a man, in good health and fitness and also he's not one of those regular mortals :-)
I'm not saying it's not lip sync though, it might be, hard to say.

What makes Vitas so exceptional is not only his great voice but also the fact, that he always sings live ;) Just watch the part at 3:35. There he puts the mic on his lips a lil bit later, so you can also hear his voice with a moment of delay. Real talent don't need no lip sync :)

@NoBlood4Blasphemy no disrespect but you cant make that claim, he does NOT always sing live despite the fact when he does sing live he is fantastic, im a huge fan, but to molly coddle people into beleiving things that arent true because of how you feel about someone does not make the statement true. just because you see somebody do something with the mic does not mean the mic was not simply switched on at certain points, how do you think people get away with it so often?

You know, I'm not sure this is a 100% lip sync. At 2:35 in the video you hear him breath, and at 3:35 he comes in a bit late. There is no doubt though that parts of it are not him live, which I must say is a bit disappointing. This is the best live version I've been able to find though. All the rest are 100% lip syncs.

Hmm, I'd like to add that I think it matters greatly whether this is playback or not, cause with the studios nowadays anybody can be a good singer with all the digital corrections and stuff. Love the song though, but it's kinda lame to playback.

You know, I find it funny. What does it matter if it is "Live" or not. Either way, at some point the man did sing it and it is an incredible piece. Enjoy it with that knowledge instead of looking solely to discredit another individual's video.

I don't think he's starting a beat off. If you listen to the original version, you can clearly hear he does that on purpose. But at 2:32, he sings it off-time.

well if you listen to the studio version, he sings that part like "sa-a-faaa" to go along with the rhythm, there's like a pause or skip with his voice. Here, it's smooth, like "saaafaaa" if you know what I'm talking about, those aren't real lyrics just vocalization.
And I am certain that 3:35 is the same as the studio version... It's just this whole half of the song is more muffled in the studio version so it sounds like his vocal fades in, but it still starts at the same place.
