  • fake

  • They were shufflin in 1878

  • omg 1888

  • this is lie the first movie is when the pupils come out of a factory

  • Its real! it was only 2 seconds long, and was filmed oct. 14th 1888

  • I'm hoping for a Criterion Collection 5-disc set reissue with bonus features (the audio commentary will be cool too)!

  • The CGI looks fake.

  • weee

  • @Dominandro the parts with the words are but no, this is Roundhay Garden Scene and is the oldest film in history. It is 2 seconds long and was made in 1888 (123 years ago!)

  • Comment removed

  • @Nihilistable No, but the person who posted this edited it. It is suppose to be those people just walking around and waving/acting exited I think.

  • Did you Now That all The Characters Died After 1 Day After filming This Movie ??? O.o

  • ..and i always thought the Lumiere factory exodus was the first?

  • @jackhackett80 Augustin LePrince, who shot this footage, actually predated the Lumiere brothers by several years. Apparently, he was the true "father" of motion pictures. He disappeared while on a train trip to Paris to raise funds for more equipment and the mystery remains. One of my short stories ("Special Effects") mentions that perhaps Edison had him murdered, though I don't really believe so. CuffColl.

  • @CuffColl ...interesting...wouldn't surprise me @ Edison, though...he was a wealthy thief lol...it was because of him motion picture productions were so limited in the earlier days!

  • @CuffColl I do!! I do believe that people at Edison´s orders killed him due to the Patent War. I also read lots of things about Edison and, over time, I started to really, really hate him.

  • party animals here! The chic is the worlds first female rockstar!

  • @Bogframe yeah I know I accidentally hit 9 but I meant 8mm

  • Fake. Probably people who dressed up and had a 9mm camera and made it look vintage.

  • @TitanicExpert1912 a 9mm is a pistol. an 8mm is a movie camera.

  • @TitanicExpert1912 well...I don't know but where could you possibly find an 8mm camera these days, they're antique.

  • You know what else happened in 1888~? JtR @ Whitechapel~ if only...

  • OMG You people are so F-ing gullible! Obviously, this wasn't made in 1888! IT WAS A JOKE! GODDAMN!

  • @kyleholtytp12 The original one, without the lines edited, yes. It was done on October 14, 1888 (123 years ago) by Louis Le Prince, and is the first movie EVER. It lasts only 2.1 seconds. Its usually called "Roundhay Garden Scene" filmed by Louis Le Prince, the REAL first inventor of motion pictures. You can google him and read some good stuff about it. :)

  • Gone are the days, these days all you get is rubbish movies like 'The Hottie and the Nottie' and music by Justin Bieber- which has 10 times the viewings of this piece... pfft outrageous!

  • The Best Movie In the World xD

  • Better than 3D

  • I just realized how exaggerated our periodical films are today with costumes and apparels.

  • That was truly one of the funniest things I've ever seen! I can't stop laughing...

  • Louis Aimé Augustin Le Prince (born 28 August 1842, vanished 16 September 1890) was an inventor who is considered by many film historians as the true father of motion pictures, who shot the first moving pictures on paper film using a single lens camera.

  • A Frenchman who also worked in the United Kingdom and the United States, Le Prince conducted his ground-breaking work in 1888 in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, UK.

  • In October 1888, Le Prince filmed moving picture sequences Roundhay Garden Scene and a Leeds Bridge street scene using his single-lens camera and Eastman's paper film. These were several years before the work of competing inventors such as Auguste and Louis Lumière and Thomas Edison.

  • He was never able to perform a planned public demonstration in the United States because he mysteriously vanished from a train on 16 September 1890. His body and luggage were never found, but, over a century later, a police archive was found to contain a photograph of a drowned man who could have been him.

  • wth is he doing at 0:40 ? im i the only one who sees this??

  • @BalisticZer0: The guy in the black is obviously stalking the guy in the trench coat because he want's to force trench coat guy to be his gay lover.

  • This is looped-and-edited footage from the historic first movie ever made, which was called "Roundhay Garden Scene". The original can also be found on YouTube. It was made in 1888 and ran only 2 seconds.

  • The first animated .gif !!!

  • Funny!

  • why does that guy in the black suit looks like he is jacking off. and the other guy just dissapears. BUt wow just amazing

  • the amazing thing is that ppl then thought this was the hd of today

  • hahaahaa....

  • I am not an expert, on anything. Let alone grammar. I do remember seeing an old movie of Albert Einstein riding a bike (sort of). E=m(c x c) X 3X4X5X6 infinitaley is life. An exponential multiplied by a similar expontial at an exponential rate will undoubtedly bring us to the point. An analogy or digity comparison is that the earth is a carbon based unit in the typewriter of a higher level. Qantum physics allows us to happen. Hence.

  • @defenderoFreedom he didnt EDIT this he actually recorded this video from 1888 and waited for youtube, and then put it on here, SIMPLE

  • @defenderoFreedom he didnt EDIT this he actually recorded this video from 1888 and waited for youtube, and then put it on here, SIMPLE its called time TRAVEL!

  • @TheWilliamMaster

    oh i see :))

  • @defenderoFreedom

What are you saying? First films were made around 1888. Look for "1888 - Traffic Crossing Leeds Bridge" here in YouTube. This is simply a comic edit of one of the first videos.

  • @actorjdwilliams

    fooled me! :-)

i thought at first this was an april fools joke. Sorry my fault. I didnt know they had cameras back in 1888. someone told me 1920. I guess that was when they were 'revolutionized'

  • @defenderoFreedom

In fact, 1920's movies are the most known ones. But cinema was a very popular thing back around in 1908 or so.

  • Most of you don't understand how amazing this is!

  • you people are a bunch of maggot shiting dicks this person just kept rewinding the tape and its not a movie when people are skiping together in the same place

  • " OMG can't wait for the blu-ray " xD

  • @LenoresW i can

  • @LenoresW lol

  • seems like there was a lot of lag back then in 1888

  • OMG I actually laughed at this!

  • hey this is good poor director the actors were just stupid
