PLC HomePlug interference to shortwave radio part 3

I've recently obtained a nice shortwave radio that I'm planning to sell and I obviously need to test first - problem is, all I get in the packed town where I live is that kind of interference which may or may not be from Homeplug(s) - so I'm planning to drive outside town and run it off the car battery to test it. It's a real shame that a new technology that so clearly cripples an established one has been allowed in that form - It should only have been allowed if these problems were overcome.

I understand through my experience in shortwave radio listening there is always interference with shortwave radio reception but this is not supposed to be this severe. people saying they do not have any problem with radio interference are people who listen to the radio on frequencies of MW or FM that have little or no interference. BPL affects shortwave and even CB radio frequencies.

It is a big problem to radio reception because of lack of shielding of powerline wires.

I know the solution. For those with cable TV and not satellite, go with MoCa. Netgear, Actiontec, and Corinex all sell them.

It seems like MoCa is using the frequency area around 1 GHz and therefore it is likely to be a good solution. A solution that does not create radio interference problems for HF radio users.

@rdehli Not only that, but it's going through Coax. Coax already sends RF signals through its cable, and there is no problem with interference going that far.  Also there is Ethernet over phoneline bridge that Corinex sells. You HAM radio operaters should support that.

I have a NETGEAR XAVB101. Perhaps they notched the interference?

I'm not sure exactly what shortwave radio is. I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris. I scanned all AM radio stations and noticed no different. Aren't you just using a regular AM radio?

OK, then you have scanned the MW AM band between 520kHz and 1610kHz, not the shortwave band between 2 and 30 MHz. That is where the HomePlug interference is. The radio I use is a Sangean ATS-505 shortwave receiver.

I scanned all my radio stations in my car from my attached garage and none of them had interference from my homeplug powerline network.

They don't warn about this in the adverts.
