Well, you know it started out as a pagan festival anyway, then it was appropriated by the Christian Church in an attempt to phase it out, which obviously failed.
BTW I think you're cute too, but then I also think Christmas decorations are cute!
That is delightful. Good to hear from you, and thanks. I almost came and lived there for a while but then I decided that if I didn't go to NY and start performing on a frequent basis I'd go nuts. Let me know if you're ever up here of course. And hopefully I'll actually make it down sometime in the not too distant future.
Ironically (in light of my joke) several of the Christmas songs I really like were actually written by Jews, including Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire and Silver Bells.
While I don't think that Christmas is for everyone, it's also useful to point out that December 25th isn't really for Christians, either. JC was most likely born in, I think, August. Christians stole the date from Saturnalia - after Constantine converted, all of the Romans were pissed that their holiday was being usurped, so C decided to keep the date and call it Jesus's "birthday".
Not a Christian but I will take all the blame for the Christmas sell-out, because of it I was off for two days so I think its a fair trade. Did kind of have to take it out of my holidays but fair is fair.
You could blame me for Scientology as well and I'll take the 25th off.
i think its another one of those ironic musings that have become so incredibly popular since the late great George Carlin started making us all think again.
Perhaps I do need to make it more explicit (I go into a bit more depth in the more info section) but there is indeed something ironic about taking *your* holiday and claiming it applies to everyone thinking that makes you more "inclusive".
I also think it's funny to juxtapose the stated intent of sharing the joy with my perception of it as sharing the blame/guilt.
Secular=commercial?

In light of all this, one could make an argument for Secular Xmas. Or you can just hide at home bc the most of the music is INSIPID.

Well sure, but I think they've been with it long enough to count as a common law marriage.
