I'm stabilising the ankle so that form and power are not lost there. Doing that promotes effective use of the whole chain of muscles in your leg, rather than just giving the calf a platform to push from.
If the contact at the floor is strong and stable, everything will work better.
So you're stabalizing the foot to promote the use of the calf muscle in the strike?

WOW.... i have never thought of the ankle that way.. after sturdying my ankles i had better power tranfer..
