2:46 - This is not a Polish rock star. This is our king - Wladyslaw Jagiello. But what does his statue in Central Park in New York? I have no idea. :-D
Nice salvaging! I certainly remember this. I had the whole thing on VHS as well, but it's long gone now. So glad someone had the sense to hang onto it for the sake of everybody who'd either like to see it again or who's never seen it.
Lol, I really think that Ian Anderson is one of the funniest people ever. -Just a thought... doesn't he look older in this video than he looked over the last few U.S. tours? Almost like he dyes his beard...? Am I nuts?
Good christ I wish I was in the park that day -- I was only blocks away stuck in a law firm as a secretary. I have loved him since I was 15. Just saw him last night upstate NY and he was wonderful. I tell my husband there are two men for which I'd leave him - Ian Anderson and Tino Martinez.
I too have been influenced by Ian and the band. Saw him in Kalamazoo, Mi years ago on the Rubbing Elbows Tour. Great evening. Adopted my moniker 11 years ago when I first started using the Net.
Ahahaha, he's such a hoot. Except for the way he just casually grabs his flute in his fist and just swings it over his shoulder, it pains me to see that. The springs, man, the springs!
Yes, thanks so much Tulltapes! and bekzzo, if this story is true, what a bunch of idiots at MTV. "Too old?", I guess they thought Eric Clapton was too old as well???
I heard they came up with the idea of doing unplugged shows after hearing Tull performing acoustic versions of their songs. When Ian asked if he could do an unplugged, they turned him down flat because his band was "too old" and didn't appeal to youngsters.

Old chap Ian did everything to look and sound as old as he could back then, while every other rock star tried to stay 25.

I heard they came up with the idea of doing unplugged shows after hearing Tull performing acoustic versions of their songs. When Ian asked if he could do an unplugged, they turned him down flat because his band was "too old" and didn't appeal to youngsters.
