After Half-Life 1, I didn't know what the hell HL2 was about. That was pretty confusing. But I guess that's the point. It's to build an understanding of the game and environments as you go.

And it's pretty fun to form your own understanding yourself.

Quite possibly that this game hasn't been surpassed yet in terms of just being a classic first person gaming experience. Everything just came together and worked in this game. Not just technically, but the sort of abstract epic feel of it and how it makes you feel like your getting somewhere if ya know what I mean lol. That's down to the well judged pacing of the game I suspect.
