They can't do one month of the legion without cracking up? Bloody pussies. I did 5 years in the 1950's. For your legionnaires out there, my matricule was approximately 118,000 (I won't give my exact one)
this was awesome! been watching it all in one run! bear is such a cool guy, and big props to the other guys. having served in my local army myself, i feel for them, since many things are similar.. but what i did was nothing in comparison to the real legionaires. well done
When I finished watching this, I got a smile on my face, I remembered when I was in the army, all the instructors were like them, at first hated some of them with all heart, but in the end we shouk their hands and felt proud to stand in front of them..
me as well i watched it from the beginning to the end, but out of all of them Sgt. Feurgesson is my inspiration...that little son of a bitch is tough as rocks - that's good shit!
I thought it was a great moment when Bobby ran over to Ferguson and shook his hand. Very symbolic of Bobby's true strength and unbreakable will. He was the really unlikely achiever in that group. Good on him.
Bear, as usual, looked like he could possibly have done it another two times in a row.
I reckon most disappointing would have to be Stephen. Giving up and saying it was because he didn't want to jeopardise his recovery. I hope he looks back and sees how silly he looked with that excuse.
Ferguson was a scout, and in case any of you don't know what that means. It means, go ahead and be the one. I know Bear sucked it up and did what he had to, and since Bear is SAS, he has to know what happens to the short guy in the Army. The short guy does everything us 6ft guys do, same pace, same weights, same time restraints. In case you didnt hear Corporal Sutter, "We know how to push buttons." and ill tell you now, they sent the dressmaker home, to keep him from finishing.
how many times do you think bear looked at ferguson and was like "listen here you fucking nobody, i was with the SAS dont try to tell me how tuff YOU are!" hahaha.
@justforpoox I don't think he ever did that. Bear understands what it's like to go through insane training and come out of the other side intact and proud. I imagine he has just as much respect for those ex-legionnaires as he has for all of the guys he served with.
thankyou for uploading.. nice insight and bear is always a guy that gets stuck in.. but it is not the toughest in the world, the international SAS and American special forces in my eyes are far harder which provide no encouragement, more impossible tasks and worse beastings.. the only unique FFL traits that I believe are significant are the sweltering desert to train in (which other special forces like delta or sas train in) and the not-so-social kit they are given.. those bergens are dangerous.
This was amazing and very inspiring to watch...really, really enjoyed it (thanks for uploading). I think I can see now not only the appeal that joining Legion has and all the challenges it brings, but also the difficulties and the hard and dark parts...it gives you a real perspective.
Really nicely done documentary.
Bear was great (that guy's just amazing!) and so were those guys that finished it, great characters and personalities - I salute them all and wish them all the best.
Wowwww :) .. i mean it will surely blow away the notion that the legion take criminals and give them a gun to shoot people..... It only gives second chance to people who deserve and earn it .. Felt bad for Kurt though he had it in him,... great show :)

@barf315 You ignorant fuck, you've never done the farm you don't know how hard it is. The kepi march is 65km in two days and thats straight after you have been phyisically and psychologically raped at the farm for a month. Its not easy: and its a Kepi Blanc not a kepi black. stupid fuck

I am saying that in real foreign legion (not in this one) THE CHALLAENGE is a lot harder mentally and physically because in real FL you cant just ring the bell and go away if you want to...
@TheNitschke22 Dude this was not foreal, you must complete a contract of 5 years.....of hell, and you cant quit just like that! The only guy who actually would have a chanse to make it would be Bear Grylls, the others was way to lame or getting bad injuries easly!
man bear grylz is so of a nice guy!! like people alwese talking about him is fake with the man vs wild thing thats bullshit this man kick ass!!!!!!!!!
Really enjoyed this. Yes...something like this puts life in perspective. Imagine doing 5 years of it...(ouch). Bear is always entertaining. But what about that fella, who had the 'bad attitude'...earlier on. I'm interested to know what his problem was? Anyway...good stuff.
Load of more respect to Bear Grylls and these guys. And to everyone who is down sizing thier achievment... Shut the fuck up! Quit being bitches and saying that you can do it.
@Mujangga They are all staged, civies wouldn't take the shit they really dish out in the legion. I had a freind in instruction with a very bad infection in his leg with green and yellow puss coming out. he did eather the Kepi march (30-40 Klicks) or the raid march ( 120+ klicks) with this infection and raw feet. at the end the SGT would go up and down the rank. The SGT kicked him in that leg with the infection and it burst. the entire trouser leg was drenched in puss.
sir are you telling me that you are a legionnarre? holy shit. this is an honour sir. please tell me that can legion be called simply an elite unit or "SF" their training seems to be much harder than " SF" neway. i'm guessing they are only trained in conventional warfare, front line fighting right? they can't rescue hostages or do room clearance? or trained in something like "SERE" that Seals or SAS go through? please sir i have many more questions to ask.
@sofamp3 and if legion is considered amongst special forces then why there's a "commando" unit of legion? isn't it's training already balls sweating? what harder can you learn?
@sofamp3 Yes they would preform theses tasks. but they are not force multiplyers. Normaly the master would get the choice of the "best jobs" before the journey man.
@white490 one more thing sir, you are from ireland, have you served in legion? would you consider royal marines and foreign legion as same? your country ireland has special force called " irish rangers" would call them elite like rangers or special forces like " green berets, seals and SAS"? thank you.
@sofamp3 I live in Ireland. I was born a yank and served them over ten years as a Scout ( the difference between boy scouts and army scouts,,,,,,, adult supervision). I served the Legion for five years. I have not served the Irish or the Brits so I can't answer your question. Seals are shock troops not force multiplyers. RMC do not do force multiplyers. SAS Formed Col Beckwith who formed the Delta Force. Delta comes from the team designation "A" team B, C, and now Delta from Green berets.
@sofamp3 delta came from the green beret, that is where you get Operational detatchment Delta. They are however taken from all branches of the American military Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and I don't Know but maybe the coast guard. any enlisted grade 4 and up with the right test scores can go to recrutment brief but until you are selected you wont know anything about them. Still I know they are trained in unconventional warfare.
@white490 even though a unit may fall under Special forces command they are not all trained in unconventional warfare. the ability to conduct unconventional warfare makes them a special force. unconventional warfare is insurgency and counter insergency. the traditional meanimg of force multiplyer is being able to gather train and equip local peoples, thus multiplying your force. Yes all spec ops are shock troops.
@white490 ohhh thanx. however is US the only country that has 2 types of special forces "force multipliers" and " special operations"? cuz pakistan is the only comon wealth nation whose special forces all 3 of them are trained by US special forces, and their newest pakistan marines and SSG-navy was trained by Seals, 1st time i heard Seals or someone other than Green berets training others.
@Mujangga there was a 50 klick easy march in south america and a Legionnaire fell on a very sharp stick. I am not sure I think it enterd the chest cavity. Anyway the CPL in this video CPL Sutter was tasked to carry him out. how many klicks we had left i don't know 2 days march in the jungle. not an asian jungle but the thickest south american jungle. I know we marched through mangrove for a day. and then jungle again for a day. It was the Sept. marche (marche de fouriger) I Think.
Fuck, you who think the SEAL is much better than the Legion, I will tell youm if you are a seal I doubt it if you can go through the first month of the Legion basic training, you will be starve all the time, you will run, no stop then march then run again, you will do a lot of physical training, the SEAL training is only tough in the time of hellweek, the Legion, heck, you will be tired to death during fucking four months
@TQLCVNCH i would never believe you untill in saw that show, and fuck man, i know the legion is really the hardest, toughest army in the world. people say " spartans", " arabs", " mongols", " romans" were the best warriors in the world, i say fuck that, no one beats the legion. off fuck that much intense training SEAL is joke infront of them, as well ne other spec ops. you are right
The legionnaires are proud of themselves, they are their to kill and die, they are scared of nothing, I dont know if there is any story about the French Legionnaires running away from the battle, they fight and die, when you join the Legion, you have been VERY VERY willingly to die.
do you know that you are a fucking stupid ass, the SEAL is a special force, the Legion Etrangere is not, the SEAL spends 2 year for training, the Spetznaz spends about 8 years and guess what, the Legion still kick the Spetnaz's ass at the obstacle course challenge, you think that the SEAL can win over the Legion with just fucking 2 years, I used to want to join the SEAL until I found out about the Legion Etrangere.
@TQLCVNCH hey bro why legion is not considered "spec ops" while they do every thing a spec ops does? there training discipline is just like spec ops.
Not actually, Legionnaires are front line Soldiers, you know, they dont do such things like sneak behind the enemy lines, they are pretty much like the USMC, but they are tougher, you have to go through 4 months of basic training, and it s 100 time tougher than the this show shows you, speed-marching, running, you will be cold, you will be starve, more likely than not, you only have a small piece of bread and a cup of coffee for your breakfast. I cannot wait to join the Legion.
@TQLCVNCH but hey how they remain healthy if they are not given proper ration like other armies get. for such hard labour you have to get enough and good food. so that means legion is a "low maintanence army"? cuz obviously they dont get rations or proper food.
Starvation is a part of training, after you finish your bootcamp becoming a Legionnaire, you will have a proper ration just like soldiers in other armies, they make you starve and work hard because they know when you are out there, you will be into a situation in which you dont have enough food but you have to fight hard, say, when the line of supply is cut and the convoy cannot bring the food to you and you are besieged.
As I understand "Elite" here means exprienced, tough, and deadly, It does not actually mean special. Why does it call FFL an elite unit force? First, It is only for foreigners who want to fight for France, second, the FFL has a lot of combat experience, third, it has the toughest bootcamp for conventional, fron-line combat unit (special forces are unconventional forces). They are not special force, but they are more special than other front-line army.
lets make a comparation, Special forces such as SEALS, SAS do some missions like assassination, sabotage, they get them done behind the enemy lines. French Foreign Legion, however, they contact the enemy face to face, I really dont know what army is like FFL, uhm, I think the Waffen SS is pretty close to the French Foreign Legion, Waffen SS was not a special force but they were more elite than regular army.
As I told you, It s a part of training, by giving you not enough food, you can suffer the hunger better, you will be tougher, and you ONLY starve in the bootcamp, after you become a Legionnaire, you will get a lot of good food for your meals. The idead behind that is with the same amount of food, a Legionnaire can fight for a longer time than any soldier of other army does, you are tougher, more durable, more deadly, I think it s also the matter of the strength of mind.
Well, I only know that most of special forces learn Krav Maga, Russian Army learns Systema, Vietnamese Army learn Vovinam, I dont know if there is any Army that learns muay thai or Karate, US Army learns Jujitsu, US Marine learns Marine Martial Art, German Army learns Krav Maga as well I guess.
Because Learning Krav Maga is fast, Krav Maga is simple, practical but effective, easy to remember and deadly, I think you can effectively defend yourself after you know 3 or 4 techniques, but it does not mean it s better than other martial arts, Jujitsu is also deadly, Vovinam and Savate are also deadly as hell, if you notice, these martial arts are battlefield or martial arts, they are developed based on experience on battlefield or streetfighting so they are extremly effective.
In bootcamp, they dont teach martial arts like sensei teach you in Dojo, there is no kata, the Army will choose the most effective, practival and deadliest techniques from a hundred techniques of those martial arts to teach you, so eventhough you are technically white belt in savate, they still teach you advanced tecniques for black belt, they dont care if you are a beginner in MA, they only care that you will kick ass with what they teach you.
And after bootcamp, I am very sure that you will be a master at Savate or Jujitsu (if you are a US Army soldier), and eventhough you are not actually black belt, you still kick black belt guy ass. I personally think that should be how you learn MA, choose the most effective, deadliest techniques and master them, you will kick a lot of asses.
Ok, I just wanna make it clear, The Militaries dont teach muay thai or Karate does not mean those kick ass martial arts are not deadly, I know that Japanese police learns Karate and Judo, and I myseflt spent 3 years to learn Karate, I can tell you that it s extremly deadly, Krav Maga, Marine Martial Arts borrow a lot of techniques from Karate, but if you learn just pure Karate alone to be deadly in combat, It will take time and the Army simply does not have time to waste.
@TQLCVNCH man you are gooooooodddddd thanx a lot for questions. in the future can i still ask you more? i myself want to join the canadian navy and after 2 years of service want to apply to JTF2 ( canadian special forces) for their class A assulter team. and i have a lot of interest like you in armies and special forces. thanx again.
Well, you can ask some more of course, I ll try my best to answer you. By the way, I have signed up for the US Navy too, I will ship out for bootcamp in august 16th this year, I volunteer to do the support role in Marine combat teams, so I will be trained with combat skill (so excited), after I have my college degree and get out of the Navy, I will join the French Foreign Legion. You are canadian so do you know French?
@TQLCVNCH yes i do, i'm finishing my B ENG, they are paying for it so i'll be ship to royal canadian navy as marine engineer and since i'm an "officer cadet" they want all officers to bilingual so yeah i'm learning french already in university.
Please let me salute you, an Navy Officer, I still have to wait to go to the Military academy, I ve signed up for the US Navy as an enlist man, I cannot go to West Point, so I decided to work harder (in French, especially) to go to Saint Cyr, I dont know if I should volunteer for the French Foreign Legion as an enlist (after 3 year you can apply for french citizenship) or as an officer (after I graduate from Saint Cyr)
@TQLCVNCH hey salute to you, cuz you want to go to french foreign legion, balls ripping training, while i'm being pussy and only want to proceed to canadian special forces which a lot of people say are sissy forces, and i'll think 2wice b4 joining the legion, you it's you who's a tough dog i'm not. so salute to you. GOD HAS BLESSED YOU WITH "BALLS".

Really enjoyed this. Yes...something like this puts life in perspective. Imagine doing 5 years of it...(ouch). Bear is always entertaining. But what about that fella, who had the 'bad attitude'...earlier on. I'm interested to know what his problem was? Anyway...good stuff.

Many aspects of this series looks staged.
Mujangga 1 year ago
@Mujangga They are all staged, civies wouldn't take the shit they really dish out in the legion. I had a freind in instruction with a very bad infection in his leg with green and yellow puss coming out. he did eather the Kepi march (30-40 Klicks) or the raid march ( 120+ klicks) with this infection and raw feet. at the end the SGT would go up and down the rank. The SGT kicked him in that leg with the infection and it burst. the entire trouser leg was drenched in puss.

sir are you telling me that you are a legionnarre? holy shit. this is an honour sir. please tell me that can legion be called simply an elite unit or "SF" their training seems to be much harder than " SF" neway. i'm guessing they are only trained in conventional warfare, front line fighting right? they can't rescue hostages or do room clearance? or trained in something like "SERE" that Seals or SAS go through? please sir i have many more questions to ask.
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3 and if legion is considered amongst special forces then why there's a "commando" unit of legion? isn't it's training already balls sweating? what harder can you learn?
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3 and sir can legion perform the following duties like Special Reconnaissance, Direct Action and Counter-Terrorism? thank you
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3 Yes they would preform theses tasks. but they are not force multiplyers. Normaly the master would get the choice of the "best jobs" before the journey man.
white490 1 year ago
@white490 thanx. you made it so simple
sofamp3 1 year ago
@white490 one more thing sir, you are from ireland, have you served in legion? would you consider royal marines and foreign legion as same? your country ireland has special force called " irish rangers" would call them elite like rangers or special forces like " green berets, seals and SAS"? thank you.
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3 I live in Ireland. I was born a yank and served them over ten years as a Scout ( the difference between boy scouts and army scouts,,,,,,, adult supervision). I served the Legion for five years. I have not served the Irish or the Brits so I can't answer your question. Seals are shock troops not force multiplyers. RMC do not do force multiplyers. SAS Formed Col Beckwith who formed the Delta Force. Delta comes from the team designation "A" team B, C, and now Delta from Green berets.
white490 1 year ago
@white490 so delta is a unit within green berets? how their duties are different? well basically all spec ops are shock troops are they not?
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3 delta came from the green beret, that is where you get Operational detatchment Delta. They are however taken from all branches of the American military Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and I don't Know but maybe the coast guard. any enlisted grade 4 and up with the right test scores can go to recrutment brief but until you are selected you wont know anything about them. Still I know they are trained in unconventional warfare.
white490 1 year ago
@white490 even though a unit may fall under Special forces command they are not all trained in unconventional warfare. the ability to conduct unconventional warfare makes them a special force. unconventional warfare is insurgency and counter insergency. the traditional meanimg of force multiplyer is being able to gather train and equip local peoples, thus multiplying your force. Yes all spec ops are shock troops.
white490 1 year ago
@white490 so the only thing that seperates them from green berets is that they dont train other forces and hence are not force multipliers?
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3 there you go it's as simple as that. To be sure there are always exeptions to the rule. That is basically how it works.
white490 1 year ago
@white490 ohhh thanx. however is US the only country that has 2 types of special forces "force multipliers" and " special operations"? cuz pakistan is the only comon wealth nation whose special forces all 3 of them are trained by US special forces, and their newest pakistan marines and SSG-navy was trained by Seals, 1st time i heard Seals or someone other than Green berets training others.
sofamp3 1 year ago

TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH i would never believe you untill in saw that show, and fuck man, i know the legion is really the hardest, toughest army in the world. people say " spartans", " arabs", " mongols", " romans" were the best warriors in the world, i say fuck that, no one beats the legion. off fuck that much intense training SEAL is joke infront of them, as well ne other spec ops. you are right
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
The legionnaires are proud of themselves, they are their to kill and die, they are scared of nothing, I dont know if there is any story about the French Legionnaires running away from the battle, they fight and die, when you join the Legion, you have been VERY VERY willingly to die.
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@nawaraven69
do you know that you are a fucking stupid ass, the SEAL is a special force, the Legion Etrangere is not, the SEAL spends 2 year for training, the Spetznaz spends about 8 years and guess what, the Legion still kick the Spetnaz's ass at the obstacle course challenge, you think that the SEAL can win over the Legion with just fucking 2 years, I used to want to join the SEAL until I found out about the Legion Etrangere.
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH hey do u know a name or can send a link for this obstacle course challenge? sounds interesting

TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH hey bro why legion is not considered "spec ops" while they do every thing a spec ops does? there training discipline is just like spec ops.
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH but hey how they remain healthy if they are not given proper ration like other armies get. for such hard labour you have to get enough and good food. so that means legion is a "low maintanence army"? cuz obviously they dont get rations or proper food.
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH but hey wikipedia says " it's an elite unit" which is another word of saying " special ops". explain plz
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@sofamp3
lets make a comparation, Special forces such as SEALS, SAS do some missions like assassination, sabotage, they get them done behind the enemy lines. French Foreign Legion, however, they contact the enemy face to face, I really dont know what army is like FFL, uhm, I think the Waffen SS is pretty close to the French Foreign Legion, Waffen SS was not a special force but they were more elite than regular army.
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@sofamp3
One more thing, it does not matter if the FFL is a special force or not, Legionnaires still kick Special forces' asses anyway.
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH yea fine, but how can they stay healthy while not given enough proper food like other units and armies get?
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH ohh that makes sence, i thought the legionnaires dont get enough food at all
sofamp3 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH hey ro what sort of martial arts do they train you in?
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
Savate, It s French Kick Boxing and also Canne de Combat.
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH and other armies i guess laern muay thai , kick boxing or karate right bro.? thanx
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH thanx dude, you are so well informed, but why majority of the spec ops learn karv maga? specaifically?
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH and last thing plz, to what extant they learn mma? i means to what belt or level?
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH man you are gooooooodddddd thanx a lot for questions. in the future can i still ask you more? i myself want to join the canadian navy and after 2 years of service want to apply to JTF2 ( canadian special forces) for their class A assulter team. and i have a lot of interest like you in armies and special forces. thanx again.
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH yes i do, i'm finishing my B ENG, they are paying for it so i'll be ship to royal canadian navy as marine engineer and since i'm an "officer cadet" they want all officers to bilingual so yeah i'm learning french already in university.
sofamp3 1 year ago
@sofamp3
TQLCVNCH 1 year ago
@TQLCVNCH hey salute to you, cuz you want to go to french foreign legion, balls ripping training, while i'm being pussy and only want to proceed to canadian special forces which a lot of people say are sissy forces, and i'll think 2wice b4 joining the legion, you it's you who's a tough dog i'm not. so salute to you. GOD HAS BLESSED YOU WITH "BALLS".
