  • there's a damn eyeball on that microphone!

  • Oh my god he's so cute and shy but SO talented! And Diablo112687 it's spelled Elliott that's how we don't mix him up with some other Elliot and I think his real name was like Paul or something but he changed it when he got older. Poor Elliott. We love you very very very much.

  • damn he did succeed in his top second failure... but WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED as"" ANOTHER PERSON AT THE BAR""<3

  • He succeeded.

  • Elliot Smith looks really healthy

  • He was too smart too sensitive to be reached. He was alone. Why was different, felt too. All the love I had inside, was overflowing, but he saw that love falls down, trampled, dirtied. He wanted to be stronger at times perhaps, according to "the canons of this world", but really could not. His soul, his music was the other way. Maybe, JUST SO MUCH LOVE could save him. Now surely that love has.

  • Oh, we get it, like we got Moon and Cobain. We just can't stop them from doing it, and so we shouldn't, they don't want to be stopped. It's a big part of who they are. It's a big part of the music.

  • "... playing things too safe is the most popular way to fail. he he. dying is another way, um, or like killing your emotions is another popular way... with, you know, drugs or alcohol or whatever. But umm, I dunno, yeh? Those would be types of failure." - Elliot Smith (Failure Thoughts) 1998

  • Maybe. I don't know what her question regarding failure actually was. Based on what I'm seeing here I wouldn't give her too much credit for sensitivity. She may not even have been listening.

    Happy birthday, Elliott.

  • After he listed the ways to fail, the interviewer asked him whether he was succeeding then. I think she understood the confession well enough.

  • I find this to be a very disturbing video. He was laughing and joking one minute, and then his whole mood went south at 1:22. And nobody asked him about "killing emotions." He was making a confession that nobody seemed to get-- or seems to get now.

  • @Malocclusiontenfour Agreed. Very sad.

  • @Malocclusiontenfour Oh, we get it, like we got Moon and Cobain. We just can't stop them from doing it, and so we shouldn't, they don't want to be stopped. It's a big part of who they are. It's a big part of the music.

  • @matthewmwolff Oh, no, we don't get it. Elliott would have stopped, because he didn't drink and drug to party. He was trying to "kill his emotions"-- which was the only way he thought he could handle his depression. That's why the interventions didn't work. They were trying to rob him of his only way of coping. If they had targeted the illness instead of the symptoms he might have been able to stop. He's almost crying here. How loud of a cry for help do you need?

  • I love Elliott man but damn he looks like shit>

  • A sad SACK?! Maybe you can make my SaCK a little happier baby!

  • At the end there were it cuts out he says "The pendulum swings back in forth with that kinda of thing" Or something like that. I had the whole interview but i lost it i wonder why no one puts up the whole interview.

  • He's high

  • Massive chills-up-the-spine moment when she compared him to the people who would be the other two most famous rock suicides at the start.

  • they spelled his name wrong on TV =(
