First, today is January 8, 2012. Mr. Bowie is 65 today. Here in The USA, he can now retire. Now, I loved this tune; That stated, his 1987 album"Never Let Me Down" should have been more organized like "Lets Dance" was. Moreover, had The Glass Spider been more organized like Serious moonlight was in 1983, that tour would have been better recieved. FYI, I got bit in 1987 by The Glass Spider, and I haven't recovered from the venom since. Happy Birthday, Mr. Bowie!
When you've covered as many genres and styles, and written so many different songs as david it's hard to stay on top. but he's managed to play the game and consistently produce excellent stuff more than anyone else. I hate some of his stuff, but he is still the Fucking best!
The video and the music compliment each other great - this may be a different time period (as some suggest), but the message in the video is really clear. It may even represent the times today more so than before... I like the many sides of Bowie, as his music endures the times....

people are too quick to dismiss bowies 80,s stuff, at the time it was great compared to phil collins, rod, elton.etc. I even think it stood up pretty well against prince, duran, madonna etc. glass spider tour looks cheesy now but back in 87 it was cutting edge. if you compile a bowie 80s top20 against a bowie 90s top 20.......no contest..80s win.
The album, "Never Let Me Down' never lived up the excellence of "Let's Dance" and that's a pity. Moreover, on august 14, 1987, when Mr. Bowie brought his Glass Spider to Portland, we had to defend him from the rogue critics for it's apparent lack of structure. As for the tune, it's NOT bad, contrary to what the critics believed back then. Oh well, can't win them all.
Hmm.... I really liked this stuff, as 'Jump they say', 'Never let me down' etc ... but I like it when creatives try to go mainstream... This was up against Kylie Minogue, Bros, NKOTB - compare it to that shit and its miles ahead...
Hmm, so commercial and unexciting by Bowie standards. He even lambasted the LP Never Let Me Down in later years and he's right. It's his worst record. Even Tin Machine was better for sure.
I have to ask. Why do some Youtube users disable embedding? Embedding does not reduce hits. Views of embedded vids still count toward the total number of hits. I just don't see any logical reason to disable embedding, regardless of whether or not the content belongs to the poster.
Saw the Glass Spider tour in 1987 (Meadowlands NJ) - amazing. Squeeze was the opening act, Peter Frampton was on lead guitar. Serious moonlight overhead, too!
I love how Bowie always manages to throw in a little bit of that glamorous makeup, that little teardrop on his cheek gets me every time. And that greaser look he's got, damn he really knows how to rock a style.
yeah but someone already had roxybowie so....i just managed..i do like some of his 80s stuff like China Girl... I dunno maybe it was because of Mick Ronson that Bowie's stuff was better, come two genius minds put together....everything else becomes second best. But you're right simple minds was pretty cool..

by far not one of david bowie's best works, but the best stuff done in the late 80s, isn't it?
yourown99 9 months ago
Not one of his best songs, but still more memorable than much of today's nonsense! Nicely produced video, too.

That's was one of the latest big hits by David Bowie, the song made it the # 17 in the U.K list and the # 21 on the Billboard Charts early in 1987.
Thank you EMI-VEVO for upload the video in H.Q.
