Watching this video, I think isn't because lack of vegetation. Look at the thick of soil or sediment, roots don't make miracles. Clearly, it's a natural process of landform dynamics, where a lot of factors are envolved, like a mineralogical composition of the rock that reflects his chemical stability. Additionally weakness zones like faults, joints, sedimentary structures and foliations combined with groundwater circulation, are dominat with respect to the vegetation.
Yes is horrible to see, but this has happen becos of the removal of the natural vegetation, and luck of planning and building on land which should have been left untouched by man.
@gardenalien This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with vegetation or lack thereof. Landslides are an entirely natural event. Unfortunately, people build in high risk areas.
