  • scary;/

  • hate them CGI cameras..always move the same

  • Pretty scary but cool

  • Cjoooooooool !! thumb sup!

  • I know why it stopped. She's unable to process hair. Extensions can't solve the problem. Not even MAN can. Earth has gotten to smart for our kind. Robots for the after life. Its not meant to be. So this is the end. We stop listening so God will stop us. One day, the end will come. One day. ~ Amy.
  • Orbital brought me here.

  • I know I make toontown videos but this is kinda sad for man-kind. Our image is so unsatisfying... God made all different. Idk why were changing so much...

  • i usually put insults on comments but theis is just TOO SAD

  • I found this scary, not scary in the context ( video is scary ) , but scary as predicting how will look our future. Humanity , everything..

  • Still amazing after watching this 10+ times.

  • creepy

  • Years later this still captivates me.

  • @stingstungme Same here, favorited this long ago and still come back and watch from time to time and STILL walk away thinking.

  • we saw this in R.E. some girls said it was scary. ha! its pretty good and 100% true, exept the machine bit ;)

  • she was pretty in the beginning evn without eyes :(

  • Love this animation. My third time watching it.

I do some animation stuff as well. Swing on by if you get a second. Would live to know what you think!

  • Watch the VNV Nation video of this, beautiful music, and fits perfectly...it's 6 videos down on the related videos bar

  • Why are these short films the most times sad???

  • beautiful...

  • @ taccothrower13 I think you have it right

  • thing is people constantly blame other things, like the media or the government etc, but you always have a choice, you don't have to buy magazines or watch TV, you don't have to buy makeup etc. its interesting that the TV does nothing but display pictures, and people are still blaming it for the end result. have some self control.

  • @RustyNex You may have some "self control" and not buy into anything else, as you said, but you can't prevent others from doing it and impacting how you live your life. You may be able to ignore constant criticism about how you look, what you wear, what you do, etc, but those things still impact how people judge you for a relationship, for a job, for a home, an apartment, a loan.

  • @sumgirl720 no offence intended but the last time i thought like that was when i was a teenager, you sound like a teenager to me, when you get older you will realize that people's opinions don't matter unless you care about that person and they care about you, and then things like looks don't matter. maybe you have to jump the hoops for a job interview etc, but you don't have to kill yourself for it.

  • @RustyNex You actually ignored everything I just said to try to make yourself seem correct.

  • @sumgirl720 "some people are so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to defend it" why are you so sure that you can't just NOT buy magazines or watch TV? why is it SO important what people you don't know think? but to directly reply to your last comment: people who buy makeup don't effect my life, i don't have constant criticism from anywhere, people don't judge me for a home or apartment, i have a perfectly good relationship that is not based on looks.

  • @RustyNex I never said that. I said that there are people who will do that and those people will judge you. I didn't say that it matters what they think in general; I said that it might matter what they think if they're going to judge you as a person and/or judge your character in a interview for a job or a house or a load. I'm saying that someone who walks into a bank with outstanding credit but who looks like a bum who lives on the street might very well not get the loan.

  • @RustyNex You, or anyone, may very well go through life without even a glance at any media or a care for what people think but those people who conform and believe in societal norms will expect you to as well and will judge you based on those. As I've now said three times, many of those people do not matter but several of them will because they may be your employers, your colleagues, your police officers, your bank loaner, your judge. Maybe this isn't YOU but it is for some.

  • @sumgirl720 police cannot judge you based on looks and neither can a bank, they all have to give formal reasons why they made the decisions they did, and looks are not valid reasons. a judge my make a character judgement based on your attitude which might include how much effort you made to be presentable, but its not based on looks its based on attitude. if you want a job, you show respect, dressing smart for an interview is showing that you made an extra effort.

  • @RustyNex Profiling happens, many jobs require you have "normal" colored hair, no visible piercings and tattoos, I can come up with lots of examples, but I don't really care to go head to head with someone who can't even accept that I have a point and doesn't listen to have of what I say.

  • @sumgirl720 my point was that you still have a choice, if you want to be employed and be part of the system then yes you have to jump the hoops of the system. but you could instead choose a job that doesn't judge, or you could choose to start your own business. there are systems in place for legal things where you cannot be judged on your looks, and that covers banks, and court rooms etc, everything else is your choice.

give me an example where someone has no choice,

  • Beautiful I NEVER SEen anything like it I'm in love with this it tells me soo much

  • Now I'm sad...

  • Wildest thing I've watched in a while !

  • she have pimples :))

  • we ruin ourselves when tryin to be somthing were not

  • Creepyyyyy...... my eye now twitches, and my spine has chills. O.o

  • Something tells me I shouldn't have watched this before bed...

  • @HarmanSmile7, I agree that all men don't like to be all big and bad and some are just happy with the average woman or man if ur bi.and most men dot really go for the cheerleaders and stuff because ALMOST all of the time about 90% of the time they are simply bitches but the media isn't controlling people, people are allowing themselves to be controlled or are hiding from the media kinda because they think that they need to be like everyone else and that it's wrong to be different Luke being bi

  • Love it

  • Wooow... That's Deeep!...

  • reality. society.

  • Absolutely incredible. But quite scary too

  • It's a bit depressing, but its absolutely an incredible short. The animation is incredible.

  • Scary as hell... why didn't I find this earlier?

  • Absolutely lovely.

  • I LOVE THIS wow.... this is amazing and sad :c BUT AMAZING and 1,772 people are idiots for disliking this

  • That was beautiful...

  • who elsa keeps watching this over and over again

  • До слёз...

  • Makes me think of Anorexia

  • what sad is that you would actually cry over this...if anything its creepy

  • We destroy ourselves when reaching for the unattainable.

  • My english teacher showed me this.

  • So sad...

  • Thumbs up if the Arrivals series brought you here!

  • The moral of the story is that robots are goddamn terrifying,

  • @Irmasterlol I couldn't agree more. holy shit

  • Found this through Bjork!

  • как я люблю этот клип !

  • This should be on TV!

  • I love this video.... Every time I watch it I feel the mixture of sadness and wondering... It always makes me think... Very few things can achieve that and this video is one of those things... :)

  • dam da spiders ave evolved

  • the moral of the story is we will never be able to keep up with the standards of media till we break one day...

  • guys, how do you thinks this was made? is the face real or is it 3d?

would like to see the making off.

  • @dasnico13 Christina Frezel supplied the face, and her head was wrapped in a green cap, whilst in front of a green screen. Everthing else besides the TV clips was 3D animation. You can look up "andy huang creator of doll face" on google. There is an interview on how he created it.

  • I find myself coming back to this video each year or two, it`s just tragicly brilliant. Is there any way you could upload this video in a better quality?

  • AAhhh this is creepy but it has a good point.

  • hihi i am a lonely girl from the uk

  • this makes me sad :/

  • i actually was scared each time i watched it. although i knew what was going to happen.

  • We see what we think is perfection and we destroy ourselves in the process of chasing what can't be done.

  • trying to be beutiful just breaks you

  • i saw this video from oomph!!!!

  • Moral of the story : Stay in the fuckin kitchen !

  • I saw this in class and i was very much creeped out... Amazing though

  • I think the best part is how at the end it shows you are the one in the box, so to speak.

  • O_O amazing

  • The world will keep changing its likes, so you should stop trying to please people and be yourself and love yourself.

  • caledonia.tchatcheblog com

  • This video carries a very powerful message! Very well done!

  • This is so sad. I always hate videos about lonely robots. They nearly make me cry :(

  • This was terribly boring. I understand what the message should have been, but it just didn't work for me.

  • @ItsAlwaysDogs I understand your reaction, I guess different people see things differently. Some of us like the deep meaning, while others find it obvious. Yet we both understand it, and that's what matters :)

  • @TheWinterRose101 That's a great way of putting exactly what I was feeling

  • @ItsAlwaysDogs Thanks :) My sister's doing GCSE sociology, and somehow it all gets into my head too lol

  • @ItsAlwaysDogs

Yeah I'm sure you found it boring because it didn't have enough explosions, sex, and swearing for your dim tastes

  • @benevolentimmortal You sure found me out. I need CONSTANT explosions and sex in my life. Which is probably why I'm a prostitute for explosive workers. I also require us to meet in houses that are exploding. I especially like it when he curses at me. That's my morning to night routine! Not sure how you guessed my interestes though.... you don't happen to be an explosive worker do you?

  • @ItsAlwaysDogs

Okay then, you simply have a short attention span, it's kinda sad really, how most people cant appreciate this because it's more interesting than most action-packed, idiotic, Hollywood Blockbusters out nowadays, and the reason you find this boring is because you watch too much of them

  • @gatheringleaves So because I have a different opinion, I'm wrong. Isn't that a little, you know, ironic considering the message of this video is that people are just blindly following the media? I have a different statement, and I'm scolded for it.

  • Fascinating..

  • deja vu?

  • Comment removed

  • Personally i thought she looked better at the start than at the end

  • 1,765 people lost themselves tryna be someone else.

  • i don't think we should take from this that society has created unrealistic, predatory standards of beauty...as if we're drones to follow what we see in magazines and on TV. but is a product intriguing if you show the mundane? no, not really. only when you cover the exceptional do you have something interesting. its not intended to make you feel bad. also, ask yourself, do i feel like waking up today and going out looking like a piece of crap? probably not. you have self-respect and free will.

  • "Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it." - Salvador Dali.

  • Eerie cool creative

  • cool i can bend to your needs, just talk to me and tell me what you want

  • So, how far can she go? :)

  • man I love this piece... great work.. thanks for the experience. this piece can be used to educate humanity about the overall effect the "plugin drug" (aka TV) can have on our minds if we are not cautious of our use. There is a book titled THE Plugin Drug which discusses the long lastic hipnotic effects of TV on the mind.....

  • Perfection can never be achieved. She tried to pursue perfection and it was impossible. The truth is that the struggle will continue on forever, and there will be no time where all of a person's "imperfections" are gone. Perfection is only relative, it is not absolute. It is as if once one thing has been accomplished, a new challenge appears.

  • This shows exactly what our society is today. She thrived to be something she saw, which is exactly what young girls do today. Then she was so proud when she became what she saw the first time, but then you could see the dissapointment on her face when she had to become something else again. Then when she couldn't physically reach what she wanted she kept trying, that is like the girls who thrive to be skinnier when they are already too small as it is. Then when she kept trying. Its sad.

  • This is a problem that particularly women (mostly in the United States) face all the time. I wish girls would all collectively agree that wearing make up was just not the cool thing to do anymore... I'm sure I speak for a lot of other guys when I say that we'd rather you all just not wear make up, and not be superficial and not be so pressured to fit an image by the media.. and just be yourselves... That's mainly why guys aren't as sensitive about everything, they don't let media dictate them.

  • @SevenFootPelican I agree with you, and you seem like a really nice guy. But it's not entirely true to say that "guys don't let the media dictate them," because just as many guys think they have to act macho, look buff, drive a cool car, date a hot cheerleader-type chick, etc etc. It's just that the media tends to be controlled by men, so it favors men. Lots of men "expect" their women to look a certain way. I wish more of them were like you.

  • @5ilverhalo

uh, wtf are you doing out of the kitchen?

  • @BassJackass Pfft, dumb stock insult, try coming up with something original next time.

  • @BassJackass Omg, you're hilarious.

  • @5ilverhalo its true, but i like to think that the media dosnt decide who we all our, we decide to let the media make us that way, i dont care what someone looks like, and im not going to pretend to be all buff and macho, i am who i am and i dont care if your that hot actor from some hit movie, you dont like as i am, then you can go F*** yourself, most men are pigs, thats why i am bi, cuz not all are, and the same can be said about woman,

  • to me shows, how we think about what we look like. But in the end it not what you look like.

  • I don't get it and it's sooo creepy

  • Thumbs upp if u cried!

  • @Gangstahdrop Not only did I not cry, and scoff at the idea of someone producing tears over this video, but was very surprised for someone with "gansgta" in their name to admit to feeling any emotion other than confusion and anger.

Unless this made you angry and confused, then it all makes sense.

  • Beautiful.

  • this has been like my fav vid on youtube since i first saw it in like 07 or 08

  • @holyrainbowballz true - this video leaves a lasting impression on you, saw this back in 2007 glad I finally found it again....

  • love this.. does any one know of the animated video of a a french song, where this girl is suppose to be a doll.. and sews on her arms?? it's weird, but cool.

  • To me i think its saying if you try to be someone else because TV aka people think your weird being yourself then what happens when you leave school then how can u be yourself if you don't have anyone to copy meaning you broke this is why u should always be yourself but this is what it means to me.

  • And the moral of the story is: You lose yourself trying to be someone else.

  • @FAlLInGCiNNaMOnSTaR thats if you dont come back, if you do come back, you will NOW notice your not in the PAST, but now in the FUTURE :) ELEMENTS OF THE FUTURE! COMMING @CHYA!

  • @FAlLInGCiNNaMOnSTaR And that TV (and media all together) is the one MAIN - probably the only - place where people even get this stupid idea that there's something "wrong" with them and that they NEED to be someone else.... :( TV is a fookin' drug and it's the WORST OF THEM ALL!

    Peace! :)

  • @FAlLInGCiNNaMOnSTaR annnddd its in the description...

  • That is so sad... :'(

  • @lukkha1

You missed the whole point of the video...

  • creepy.. O.O

  • i cried on the end...it just seemed so sad...

  • I will always love this video.

  • Amazing Job! this is exactly what I call art

  • cool video, very creative.

  • This is brilliant. It compels you to pause and think... reacquaints your collective soul with the consequences of the morbid reality we have created around ourselves... towards what end?

  • @bhanu8700 Good question and commentary. I think if we knew the true origin of our humanity and from where we truly came from, our true reality and sense of self would be free/liberated from the shackles of the TV reality which, to an extent, currently programs part of our human conciousness, desires, senses, goals, aspirations, etc on this planet earth. . .

  • impressive, the real power of media. i really appreciate your work. congratz

  • ha i got moneys

  • "Doll Face" needs some moisturizer cause those pores are huge! You'd think a robot wouldn't have that [problem.

  • who composed the soundtrack???

  • aw poor glados she just wants to be prety

  • think its like ..alot of folks are robots..so immersed in the world of entertainment, from home lol worshipping things like folks on tv or on the radio then tryin to imitate that or become it inside and out. become so consumed by it that we pay attention to nothing else that is going on around us. then, we finally break. then at the end when it zooms out its like...i'm watching. am i next? haha i may just be one stoned conspiracy theorist idk id like to sit smoke trip with and ask andrew himself

  • Comment removed

  • thumbs up if you wonna get a Blow job from that thing :D

  • @lewi4117 you are an idiot

  • @JonaBay thank you bitch :)

  • what is this piano song?! i really wanna play it....

  • Does anyone know the name of the soundtrack?

  • always reaching for that unattainable beauty...

  • weirdest shit i've ever seen...

  • I don't know why but this video makes me really sad

  • this is prob the sadest thing i have ever seen. (and the creepiest)

  • it only means that you'd better be beautiful and smart rather than ugly and stupid.

and for christ sakes moisturize honey have you seen the size of those pores i lived in appartments smaller then these. you need a serious facial too. beauty is not about looking like angelina jolie it is about doing your best to like yourself the way you are, not just wait until someone finds you cute. gotta make it happen.

  • @lukkha1 and how does moisturizing make your pores smaller?

  • @Miikoong904 well first you clean your skin clean your pore with a very good soap/ if the pores are clean they tend to look better then you moisturize to avoid the pore to turn into rinkles because it makes it even harder to clean, you also take vitamine C and D which is excellent for your skin, B6 for your hair and you might want to take iron and of course collagen in pills and by applying it also directly on your skin after cleaning your face . and in 2 months you have a perfect skin

  • @lukkha1 Oh thanx! Does it help clear acne?

  • @Miikoong904 acne is another problem, it usually comes from an hormone unbalance, it is a little long to explain so i will send it to you as a private message if you want

  • @lukkha1 how do you know all this?

  • this is so sad

  • Anyone else think of this?

Yes, it's about copying tv, but listen:

The face on tv is a product. We buy (put on) the product. Then the next, new, and innovated product comes out. We then buy that one. Over time we age (extention of the bot). There will be a day in which we cannot keep up with the product line and fall backwards.

    (pls someone reply)

  • 1:47

  • exactly like what prophet Mohammed warn US about

  • this made me feel so very sad. it's so true. it's also about innocence lost in the quest to be something other than your true self. the price is too high.

  • Broken.

  • Crying :'(

  • Yeah, the video has a meaning that we dont have to achieve perfection to be happy...If you want too much,u get nothing at all.

  • WTHWTHWTH

  • the song is pretty. what is it?

  • sehr gutes Video, stark gemacht, Daumen hoch. VlG Hornissenpapst

  • We are all part of the machine, the un-reality of television... interconnected. If there was no audience to watch it TV wouldn’t exist. I find it interesting that even though she was going to die if she kept pulling toward the set, it didn’t matter to her. It says a lot about our society and we see proof of the tragic consequences every day; teenage suicides, eating disorders and dangerous plastic surgeries. All to measure up to what is being peddled on TV as beautiful and acceptable...it’s sad

  • @SKIDOUG58 agreed!!! big time

  • @SKIDOUG58 Agreed. It's not just our physical appearance but our lives and how we relate to one another. "Man i wish i had that X" "I want it".

We're so caught up with these virtual worlds, we forget that we exist as people in a real world. i spose this is what happens when we cut ourselves off from it though.

Awesome clip. Illustrates so much deep stuff. Yet in an incredibly accessibly way. +1
