  • you have a cool backyard good playing, though i thought some parts were too fast

  • Where's the emotion in it? It needs far more emotion than this. For this Waltz, the feeling put into it is more important than the speed. Dynamics, phrasing, etc... And something I've noticed, is when people get to the running 8th notes, they forget its suppose to be legato and piano, not staccato and forte. Idk why people insist on playing it differently from the way Chopin himself intended...

  • Congrats, dude!

  • I think TommyDai1 is right: The staccato doesn't sound good!

And in my opinion there could be more emotions!

    But good job!

  • piano sheet... please!!!!!

  • Amazing my friend (:

  • nice work kid :) I'm very impressed by your interpretation of this beautiful piece, keep it up, I look forward to hearing more of your work.

  • Not bad at all, but I suppose you could do better. You played it a little to much in a hurry! It's better to play the right notes in the right level as showing how fast you can touch the keys.

But you have enough talent to become a great pianoplayer.

Hope to see more of you.

  • Remember chopin was all of piano(soft) so watch it in the begining its a little too staccato.

  • that was so good:)...

  • I love this. My mom was a pianist, and this piece makes me feel like a kid listening to mom play. Safe and warm and happy. So thank you, young man.

  • @my2livers

    thank you :-)

    what a nice comment!

  • @philippmikio2 U R certainly welcome. And thank you for the beautiful piece. I listen to you almost every day. You are on my playlist that I generally listen to every morning.

  • @my2livers

Wow! Well then, I should post new videos :-)

Haven't done that for 3 years!

  • @my2livers I know exactly how you feel, I had the privlidge of having a mother as a pianist.

  • @NinjaViolinist1 We were indeed fortunate. Wish I'd continued my piano lessons!

  • I think I`m in love......and what a wonderful view you have out of your window.

    Reminds me of a Grimm-Fairytale ;)

    greetings from the blackforrest

  • please try working on the grace notes in the first part of the song a little. other than that, good job.

  • little more dynamic contrast would be nice... 'tis a bit loud (especially during the middle, softer section). perhaps if you loosened up a little it would reduce some of those small mistakes xD. pretty good performance though! =)

  • felt kind of uneasy at times but awesome playing!

  • Неровно и рвано, хотя и технично: будто играет робот. Послушайте исполнение Arthur Rubinstein!

  • Thats not how the piece goes (2:02)

  • STACATO FTW!!

  • I'm impressed! It's beautyful!

  • I suppose you easily get inspiration with that view in your window. Beautiful by the way. <3

  • Nice =]...

I wish I had a landscape like that...

but it's only for the rich here in America =p

  • I Chopin & especially Waltz in C# minor Opus 64 #2.

I play it myself, but not quite as good as this one!

  • @esacnitsuj1

I love Chopin's piano. That's what I meant to say.

    Sorry...darn typos...LOL!

  • Super!

  • Is it just me or is 0:05 kinda too stacato...

But other than that it was great =D

  • I luv ur playing! Its awesome! =] Thx for sharing this awesome music! =] Keep it up!

  • немного механичное исполнение, а музыка Шопена этого не терпит!

  • @Koriolan11 -i'll translate: a bit of a mechanical performane,because Chopin's music can't stand it!

  • Giid playing. Great song!

  • beautiful

  • Супер!

  • good song!

any chance that this is what is played in the Waltz scene in the movie "Waltz with Bashir"?

    thanks for answering in advance:P

  • more rubato and less jumpiness at the beginning. that's all I can say, other than that, good work!

Thanks

  • is your piano at 440?

  • the best i'v heard this peice played so far. keep up the good work

  • c'mon dude , . . Artur Rubenstein , . . Maria Joao Perez , . . Rachmanninaff, . . listen to a veteran, . . this kid is good , . .. but listen to a pro

  • well i ment by somone who isn't a pro....

  • very nice effort, you have a brilliant future as a pianist ahead of you. keep up the good work

  • Beautifully Played =)

  • What a beautiful view you have while you play and practice. Beautiful interpretation, by the way.

  • Very good interpretation. Much pleased.

  • sure...

  • Stupenda!!!!

  • beautiful interpretation!

  • Vals con Bashir :D

  • Wow . you will be great ;)

  • lovely overall, just the little staccato jumpy bits bother me. keep up the good work though. classical music (all the eras) is not easy to play!

  • beautiful xx

  • wooow. Where are youuu? :P

  • Great. But only if you recorded sound with a better microphone.

  • you are good & the scenery in the background is great.

  • ah ah sorry,,i think you're trying to feel the musik but something is wrong with your tempo..its wrong timing ..listen to jay and chou paino battle..

  • shut the hell up haters. honestly this is the best i've heard, and makes no difference with your remarks anyway

  • This is beautiful. It's odd how lovely music was and what we have now a days. I would do anything, to go back in time and just stay there! :D Good job. n_n

  • i've got a timemachine at home for sale just 5$ :)

  • I'll take it! >D

  • Certainly a fine performance. The odd error doesn't disturb me at all.

  • good work :)

  • good job!!!

  • The staccato is not that bad except in a few of the opening measures. Play around with the pedaling some and I'm sure you can get the harmonies to be distinct without being so jagged

    Good luck

  • For some reason I enjoy the way you play very much. Very beautiful......

  • This is good playing but just make sure you add a bit more pedal in because some of the notes are staccato. I don't think it's too fast but everyone has their own opinion.

  • i concur with staccato comments.otherwise on track. jst needs to be more fluid

  • wow i have to agree with the rest of the poeple, a great song by chopin but your staccato really ruins some of it.

  • what country are u in...the landscape is like a jungle lol. Please respond, or someone make an educated guess.=]

  • he lives in the US, i mean look at his profile LOL :D

  • I think it is America, it just looks like he's by one of the great lakes in Maine or something.

  • nice... but it IS a bit too staccato... and a little rushed. I'm learning it right now, and it was good to hear another person's interpretation of the song. again, nice job!

  • I know every pianist is entitled to their interpretation of a song, but this song sounds butchered with staccato. It should be fluid.

    Nevertheless well played...minus the staccato.

  • where are you from ? the "landscape" behind you is beautiful

  • 0:46 and on from there, why do people always rush through it so fast? Its such a beautiful part. Why rush through it like this and make it sound like shit? I just don't get it.. at all.

  • LOL

  • BlessedSpirit! Have a listen to Rubinstein playing this - the later version (uploaded by Yoshimaninoff or Dunnededunnedunne).

  • well done!!! this is one of the most beautiful songs composed by chopin...

  • bravo mi sei piaciuto<! buon nataleeeeeeeee

  • c'est pas une polonaise!!!

  • Great!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful!!!!!!!!!! Chopin is my fav composer. I think the pui mosso section accelerated to quickly. When it repeats after the long scale passage, it is supossed to be a refleciton of the first time. It could be a softer and more legato the second time.

  • have you got the sheet please ?

    thnk

  • HE is so young and playing beautifully fair play to him I love chopin good for you young man!

  • wa si nu mostr!!!

  • Your room looks awsome man which country are u in?

  • i dont hear the pedals......

  • no offence but whats with the stacotto???

  • I guess he liked the stacotto on those notes. *shrug* It's his interpretation.

  • Great performance!

Though some minor changes would make it perfect to me. The grace notes should be just a little bit longer and without staccato, and a little ritenuto in the three refrain parts when the right hand plays the finishing line up (it's an opinion, but that gives me the feeling it is the end of the phrase). Apart from those things, to me it is the perfect performance.

The speed in the refrain part, though, is the right speed in my opinion.

  • it seems evry1 in the world has an osm piano except me....

my keys are way too loose...

    brilliant performance

  • sto cazzo de cinese

  • sto cazzo de cinese sa suonare il piano ^^

  • Terrific Phil :)

  • I thought the thrid part was great, probably the best i have heard, but then you transitioned into the repitiotion of the second part way way to fast, i usually do not speed that part up until i have played over half, and then gradually to a climax.

  • While I don't either, everyone is subject to their own interpretation, and it should be respected.

  • I don't like the way you interperate chopin.

  • I'm not kidding, I enjoy the way this guy plays it more than ANY professional pianist.

I think this is an amazing performance.

And I love the timbre on the piano (aswell as the fact that it's slightly out of tune).

  • i agree with the rest too fast .. beauty is lost

  • its really good, but, in my opinion, its not a polka, u should play it slower and without doing staccato in 0:07 and the other similar parts

  • that was wonderful and i liked the way you put your own spin on it, Chopin would have been impressed

  • This is not an etude

You cannot play this song too fast although ur technique is good.

You play too stacatto and too loud in the beginning make sure you start more "P" and then go crescendo. If not you make the whole song sound too loud.

  • mucho pedal...

    mucho stacatto...

  • 令我想起不能诉说的秘密

    哈哈!

  • Wow I need to do better he is like a genius. It is simply beautiful.

  • are you a professional?

  • Absolutely mind blowing. This has to be my all time favorite waltz.

  • I love them accented!

  • Even it is too fast, I don't care, it's a sparkling and unique interpretation. It's a wonderful and classic piece but in the way he played it I really did find something new.

Even when I'm playing it, I find something new it every day.

    Great job! 5/5

  • Je suis tellement époustoufler ce morceau est magnifique et la il est super bien jouer ! Bravo

  • TOO FAST

  • exactly. The piu mosso part is meant to be quick, but not at the expense of rhythm, dynamics, and expression.

Realistically it should be played around 190bpm per quarter at most. He was playing well into 220 or higher.

Other than that, not bad. I enjoyed it.

  • Great playing and great view back there!

  • gd but try to control ur dynamics. keep it up!!

  • Good job, very impressive

  • This is an excellent interpretation. I've heard this 1000 times played by professional pianists, and I've played it every day for a year... but I really did enjoy the way you played it.

As Rubinstein said, it really never is the same.

  • not bad at all...

  • Perhaps a *little* bit of rubato at the end of each run in section B (ie. 2:13), this I think could add some more expression.

  • your good because you don't go at it like a bat out of hell, still could slow down a bit tho for real perfection and iron out the temp.

  • Bravo! Often, elements of genius are awakened as a result of practice.

  • philipp this is so gooooooooood God, well done, i will come for lesons!

  • grace notes in 1st section are to robotic. free flowing. 2nd section you play the repeat of the melody the same way. have more freedom in 3rd section. This is like the -unwaltzy- type, unlike the other sections.

  • one more thing: that background looks alot like suburban st. petersburg, tell me im right?

  • i love this waltz as well, but at times you played a bit too slow, and a times, it was rushed

    but overall, i love it

  • Excellent! this is the best home-made video of someone playing a piece by Chopin I have yet to hear!

  • I would agree, the grace notes area a little choppy but it was a very solid preformace. Looks like a lovly place to play, nice scenery out side, and I'd agree this is the most beautiful waltz from Frederic Chopin (in my opinion) :D well done

  • in my personal (unprofessional) opinion the grace notes in the opening melody section were a little bit choppy...

  • I agree .

  • was it a hard piece? you played it so well!

  • you know, i reckon, as long as the pianist is at peace with what they are playing-putting aside all professional opinions-thats all that really matters; isnt music ultimatly about listening to music, not what the pianist looks like sitting down etc? eg. glenn gould sat incredibly low for his stature, yet his playing was phenomenal.

  • you play the grace notes on the third and fourth bars of the piece way too staccato. It seems as if you are hammering the grace note, giving it a overly solid portion of the beat as opposed to a slight inflection that i think would be more pleasant and natural. just my two cents. keep playing.

  • may i say firstly that your doing well and all bugs aside, nothing that a few hours of practice wont fix.

one observation, your sitting very high up. your stool could really be 3-4 inches/75 -100mm lower. your posture is slightly strange in that you appear to be falling toward the instrument.

all that aide though, well done and maintain the efforts because it will yield the result you seek.

  • For the most part you play it well, but remember that piu mosso doesn't mean "as fast as humanly possible," and you also missed the decrescendo during the chromatic upwards scale.

Still better than I can play it though! Good work!

  • I got it ..thanks anyway..:)

  • do yo have the sheet music for this

  • yes actually, he does. its right in front of him, u see him glancing up now and then. but, i have it too. go to chopinfiles dot net =]

  • go buy it.

  • the scenery is really nice! =) (and ur music too!)

  • i love it :] i'm trying to learn it right now :D ty for being an inspiration o.e

  • It would be lovely to live next door to you

since I love classical and Chopin is my

favorite. I really enjoy your playing!!!!

  • Nice playing =)

Btw where do you live? Beautiful scenery =)

  • i want a window like that!!! O.O

  • Excellently played. Well done!

    P.S. nice scenery :)

  • wow, far better than all the other pedal-heavy pieces flaoting around on here, nice work!

  • Brillant ! I loved it !

  • Great! How old are you? When did you start playing...what age? How many times a week do you study, practice??

  • technically brilliant, but on which point have you lost the soul of this piece?

  • manzaraya hasta oldum:)

  • Ottimo, dinamiche buone....però all'inizio non staccare

  • nice bacround ^__^

  • nice window

  • legato, no staccato - chopin is very strict in his markings.

  • pretty good work. practice a lil more on the tempo.

  • The tempo is Tempo Giusto, which means a strict tempo, so you shouldn't do rubato in the beginning, but the rest of the way, you were AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice job except for the beggining.. the 3rd or 4th measure the da da da da the one with the sixteenth note then the pick up not sixteenth u know

put a little more soul into it.. chopin as well as many other polish ppl performed and played with SOULLLL most important

  • thank you guys for all the great comments. I am working on the "waldstein" sonata from beethoven and will soon post it on you tube. Other pieces include: Reverie from debussy and the minute waltz from chopin. A complete version of the entertainer and.....well lets see what else. Just need time.

  • your walts in c#minor op.64 no.2 is the greatest all i see in the youtube.u r great and u grade ..?

  • You played it beautifully! You have such a nice view-where do you live?

  • good job !

Wait for more of your classical video!!

  • you rushed it.

  • Very nice! Chopin is my favorit composer. I haven't learned this one yet, but I can play a lot of his other stuff, including the "Minute Waltz". Love those rubatos you did! Chopin can be hard to play sometimes...it's not the notes, it's style and expression...and you did both very well! =D Beautiful!

  • I find that sometimes its a bit mazurka like in style. Remember, it IS a Waltz. Also, dont take the "pui mosso" quavers too fast - you loose the clarity and meaning of that section when played too fast.

But great playing ^__^. I loved it, you are very talented!

  • where do you live?! the background is so beautiful!!! like so many trees and like a housey thing on the right side xD its prettyyy

  • wow that was so awesome! you rock!

  • I've looked around and I'm comparing this with professional pianists, and I think this is the best interpretation on youtube.

  • Okay people, do we need an english lesson?

  • Very Good played. I played that song like 5 years ago, but I forgot it because I didn't practised it anymore :( . I guess I better study it again.

  • i love mid part (in Ab major)!!!! u play this piece way more better than me!!!!

  • Very nice, but I would seriously consider using more pedaling.

  • Very nice. Nice rubatos too. I wish I could play rubatos. I'll be learning this winter. I also love your piano. Very beautiful, full sound and it's so pretty with the high gloss.

    This is wonderfully done!

  • yay! these were one of my pieces at my big recital! very well played! some people play it too fast. i played it at about the same tempo as you! good job! although you do slow down in the piu lento part a little too much and you have some mistakes! :)

    but. really well played!! :)

  • You did a good job. However, Do Not Rush! Sometimes, you sacrifize the melody in order to get to a high speed, not to mention that you played a couple of left hand notes incorrectly. Overall, You are very talented!
