After hearing this, I prefer this as an aria for the tenor voice, hands-down. This guy's French is also top-notch; he moved to Montréal from the U.S., non?

I agree with the other poster that the piano accompaniment seems insistent, but I feel that it suits the Gautier's text, hinting urgency, and perhaps a foreshadowing of what's to come in the cycle of subsequent songs under "Les Nuits D'été".

Youtube is showing that there were fine Canadian lyric tenors besides Raoul Jobin and Leopold Simoneau.  Pierre Boutet and Richard Verreau and now Robert Peters in this delightful performance.

@MaximumvolumeTV I know nothing of Mr Peters' availability but the recording and probably the photograph are from the 1960s.
