This is what I do, I NEVER dye it black permanently. I get it so it fades nicely into a dark dark brown color and then dye it back in two months. Also DONT use box dye for black hair. It could ruin your hair big time

Did you have a bad experience with black dye? I know the box says to do a strand test (which I've never done lol).. I've never had a bad experience with black dye, just blonde dyes.. Though I figured out that when you use dark brown it looks black until it fades. Now my hair's more like Zooey Deschanel's color (using dark brown).

I've never used box dye, but I normally get my hair dyed a super dark dark almost black color and it slowly fades to a really dark brown. Only recently I didn't do that, just got my roots done and now my hair is dark brown/auburny since its been fading for like... 3 months? But next time I going back to the almost black color.

If you mean cut I just ask for side swept bangs, and if you mean styled, basically I just let them do whatever they want. Lol or just take a flat iron and instead of going straight down I curl under just a little bit to make it blend better.

What I mean is switch it up a little bit, don't do the same exact curls all around your head because it will end up looking not as messy like the look. Yeah different amounts of hair, and the way you make the direction of the curl go.

Haha well don't worry, it depends on if you have thick hair or thin hair or whatever. I have very thick hair that doesnt curl so well sometimes and when that happens basically I curl it REALLY curly and sleep on it and normally it ends up looking like the way I want it. But doing this does take practice. It took me a few months to master the curling. Lol

Not sure exactly, I get mine done by my hair dresser, but I know its a semi-permanent dye and when I get it done it looks pretty black and then fades slowly to a dark dark brown.
