As Danny Elfman said, this theme has a bit of a silent film flavor to it, and in the scene itself from the film, some of Michelle Pfeiffer's movements are as though they were lifted out of a silent film. I love it.
I've got to say, this is such a sad piece of music. To me, it sounds like something that conveys a person who's been wronged and is transforming into another person, which is pretty much what the scene in the film is, but it stands alone as a piece of music. I love this track.
this is the perfect song for anyone who is living within their own despair

Possibly my favourite piece of music that Danny Elfman ever wrote from probably my favourite scene in one of my favourite movies.
I'm sorry Chris Nolan, I love you and have unquestionable faith in you but... Your Catwoman is just going to be nothing by comparison to Pfeiffer's.
