  • vanilla Ice's backing track was a tribute to Queen ;)

  • A million and one ways The Mars Volta rip off King Crimson, and you pick one of the more tenuous ones? On Amputecture alone there are more blatant ones.

  • opeth and camel are nearly exactly the same

  • My mum showed me Pressure similarity to Ice Ice Baby AGES ago

  • @chloedean5 its a sample not a similarity

  • Comment removed

  • Meh, even if Muse did steal it off Led Zeppelin (which is debatable) Led Zeppelin probably stole it off somebody else so it's fair game.

  • Muse are the new Led Zeppelin

  • I told my friend that the intro to sweet child o mine was very similar to the intro of Xanadu, but he said that they sound completely different, and now I have proof that will make him finally take back what he said and understand how influential rush is as a band, and how many bands rip them off.

  • Vanilla Ice sampled the bass and claps in "Under Pressure" for "Ice Ice Baby", he didn't copy them.

  • Tourus by Spirit sound more like Lucy in the sky with Diomonds than Stairway to heaven

  • Lol okay here. Please listen to opeth's closure riff. Only the rhythm pattern is similar, not the WHOLE riff. Closure's riff is really an original riff.

  • 9:24 WTF is that

  • you are very stupid. Okay, I'm joking, but most of these don't sound at all alike. Except for Under Pressure and Ice ice baby. Vanilla ice should be sued for that.

  • Comment removed

  • so many of those have no connection, and half of them dont sound similar

  • now lets think about this. why would dream theatre need to copy muse if dream theatre are by far more musically talented and can write forty minute epics?

  • @kinginsomnia Oh, c'mon. You'd have to be deaf to not hear the similarities between Never Enough and Stockholm Syndrome. Dream Theater's obviously more advanced in terms of technicality (and I much prefer them to Muse), but they have admitted to borrowing/paying homage to plenty of things, and they are clearly inspired by Muse on Octavarium. Besides, at least half of the members of DT are into terrible nu-metal groups, so to think they'd go "Muse? Heh, not prog enough" is absurd.

  • @fsbfsbfsbfsbfsbfsb just because it uses hammer-ons and pull-offs with the same groove? A lot of these 'copied songs' are just songs with the same groove.

  • rush and GNR are nothing alike! the melody isn't even the same.

  • Opeth copiarle a SYSTEM of a down???????? ajhajkhajkhakjhakjhkjahakjhkajhkajhkjahaj

  • Achilles Last Stand is the ORIGINAL! Muse did not rip off from LZ! Hell, it don't come even close to it! No Quarter and My Ashes just sound similiar, but there is NO ripoff!

Now about the issue between Queen/David Bowie and Vanilla Ice -- that is called sampling. Not a Rip-off. Because the Queen/Bowie song is being sampled with an upbeat tempo and a rap is being done to the song. Bada Bing, Bada Boom!

  • Achilles Last Stand is the ORIGINAL! Muse did not rip off from LZ! Hell, it don't come even close to it!

  • Strange Deja Vu and Born of Anger both copy Metallica's One,lol.

  • it's sad because muse's knights of cydonia was already similar to Telstar by the Tornadoes! so fail..... joking...... rock on MUSE

  • 31 minutos? XDDDDDDDDDDD Nice vid anyway... I didn't expect that

  • Closure isn't similar to Jet Pilot!

  • 3:01 Muse Vs Children of bodoom (tie my rope)

  • That didn't sound like Tool at all....

  • this was stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • dream theater was make a metal version xD

  • I refuse to believe that Dream Theater copied Muse.

Dream Theater takes so long to produce songs in a studio, that it prolly written before Muse wrote theirs (only slightly JK)...

In reality, thought, I don't think they'd copy a band like Muse. DT is brilliant. They made so much masterful shit, that they don't need to coipy anyone.

  • @DamAwesomeFilms Man, it was Portnoy himself who said he was a big Muse fan! :P

  • @DamAwesomeFilms

Mike portnoy admitted they took influences from muse. In fact type in Dream Theatre Stockholm Syndrome to see them even doing a brief cover.

  • heyy check this two songs! I like both bands but when i listened i was like WTF!!!

job for a cowboy-entombment of a machine (original)

we butter the bread with butter- godzilla (plagio)

thumbs up if you agree with me! they are the same!!

  • I know someone already said it, but Knights of Cydonia sounds nothing like Achilles at all..

  • @Arbiterisl33t69 it's not the same, in nothing this video is so stupid so many songs have no concidences

  • @Arbiterisl33t69 Knights of Cydonia is a tribute to telstar

  • fredy turbina xD

  • Queen recieved royalties for the under pressure bassline from the song Ice Ice baby, by vanilla ice.. The Bassline is original from queen... u.u not plagiarized.. Research ^^

  • none of them sound even slightly alike!!!

  • @MuseManiack12 LOLRUANIDIOT?

  • my opinion are what u Are a bug POSSER xD!

  • vanila ice took a sample of queen, this is not a stolen piece.

  • Led Zeppelin Was allowed, by Spirit, to use that part of Taurus in Stairway to Heaven

  • wtf is an opeth

  • @r3dsmash4 Opeth-awesome band

  • @Videostar1another1fa i bet opeth is sad pathetic piece of crap band that has no skill,.

  • @r3dsmash4 Are you retarded? They are incredebly talented.

  • its obvious muse wanted a drum roll to rememble a horse galloping...how is that plagiarism?

  • Opeth-Closure doesn't sound like SOAD-Jet Pilot

  • @Goofetto Yes I know that :) But i will give a "tip" xD

Listen to Telstar first, the whole song, and then search for Knights of Cydonnia 8-bit and listen to that first guitar solo of the music and you will notice that it's almost the same :)

  • @Goofetto yeah, it sounds more like Telstar from The Tornadoes

  • lol la ultima comparacion ajaja

  • 1:40 Daron es fan de Santana :)

  • Most of these are just coincidences/inspirations

Seriously though, you have great taste in music

  • 8:00 WTF!?!? O.O Guns N' Roses and Rush

the songs do not resemble in any way

  • Yes-Machine Massage vs. DIO - Heaven And Hell

  • is the same ;S

  • you dont know what is a cover dont you ??

  • Dream theater would be such an awesome band if they just didn't have a singer, or a better one

  • @drumslayer27 James LaBrie is awesome, that's a progressive metal voice.

  • 5:20 . wow

  • Most of this is just inspiration. The Mars Volta, Rush, King Crimson, Opeth, Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Tool, Behold...THe Arctopus, Porcupine Tree, Muse, SOAD, and Camel are all progressive music. As for the Vanilla Ice and Queen, well that's just obvious plagiarism.

  • That Queen vs Vanilla Ice thing is a joke. He sampled it therefore had to pay royalties. Queen was credited.

  • Mike Portnoy and Chris Jericho are really good friends. So that one's not that surprising.

  • Hey dickhead about Muse vs Dream Theater

DT Was making a concept album which defines time in muisc in muse is like the the 21st century.DT Said on interview that the song "Never Enough" was muse style song. Its like kind of a tribute sing for muse!

  • seee

  • jajaja yo veia 31 minutos esa cancion era mi favorita

  • Everything you write has been written some day...

  • fine stuff, you're pretty much into prog-rock/metal as I see

  • @MrProgJester that's the first thing i thought when i clicked the video. made it 100x better.

  • FUCK YOU

  • black sabbath admit ripping off led zeppelin with the paranoid riff, its basicly communication breakdown

  • *sigh* am i the only one who thinks never enough sounds more like Hysteria, they both have an opening synth part, the break down in the songs, the riffs everything is similiar (on and DT did that on purpose fyi)

  • I don't think that LTE copied queen...we all know that Mike Portnoy is a huge Queen fan! I think it's a tribute, like Surrounded (Dream Theater) intro that's similar to Father to son intro (Queen)

  • "Achilles..." reminds me more of barracuda, actually.

  • Queen vs Vanilla Ice ---> Definitely plagiarism

  • I've never bought the Spirit = Led Zep thing, never sounded that similar to me.

  • porcupine tree completely ripped off zepplin

  • led zeppelin has gotten a bad reputation when it comes to plagiarism, the first two albums had some "stolen" covers, i know it sucks...but many of the songs people said they stole only had like a simmilar sentence or something. Check out communication breakedown, people say they did not write it, compare it to the original the lyrics are totaly different the only thing common is the song title. Btw spirit personaly let zeppelin borrow the intro, zeppelin asked them.

  • On most of them,i would say influence.

  • no, Hourglass is more likely a rip-off of Wandering by Buckethead

  • I bet someone already wrote it, but I'll comment anyway - MUSE's style was the inspiritation for Dream Theater's sty;e for "Never Enough." Mike Portnoy said so, but he did, i no way, copy any part of thier songs; just mimiced their style.

  • Ovbio No¡¡¡ Como vas a compar a muse...-_- con>>> DREAM THEATER¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

    :s

  • Rappers use samples, and it's not like nobody knew that it was a queen bass line.

Most people think that Vanilla Ice made that bass line, he made it much more famous then the Queen version.

And who the fuck is FREDDY TURBINA?

  • @theWorldofWolseley except everyone who listen to rock instead of rap cause vanilla ice is just a douche

  • this video is ridiculous. most of the "plagiarisms" in here made me laugh hard.

  • Well, no duh for Joe Satriani and Coldplay

  • Its simple, this groups sometimes use the same key and chord progrssion to make their songs, so accidentaly they end up making similar songs to others that use the same key and chord progrssion, but there r still different notes.

  • Try to compare SOAD's "spiders" and breaking benjamin's "so cold",they're very similar.

  • jajaj xd 31 miuntos po wn jajaj jamas me lo espere

  • oh come on! dream theater's ,,never enough" was kind of a tribute to muse. even labries singing style is in this song similar to muse'. in an interview mike portnoy spoke about the inspiration muse gave them on the album octavarium.

  • Opeth > Camel = intentional. Mikael adimit.

  • There are some that the only thing similar is the guitar effect, not even the tune

  • in some cases he's just crazy (who did the video) haha, true musicians don't "copy" are INSPIRATED (DT, Opeth, PT) the others I don't know and I don't care.

  • @consciousnessjam you mean you have never heard of RUSH????? trust me man, king crimson, rush and mars volta are excellent prog rock bands and if u have heard of DT u would have surely heard LTE, what about led zeppelin? tool is another godly band whose drummer(danny carey) is as good as MP if not better. behold the arctopus is a great tech metal band, it has charlie zeleny who jammed with rudess

  • can't hear any real similarity between santana and SOAD... its like the same chord or something but the rhythm and the overall sound is different...and if you mean the drums...its a normal latin beat but with a totally different tone and mood...and everybody knows that system is weird anyway(thats what makes them so unique)

  • Queen vs Vanilla Ice O.o

  • Mikael Åkerfeldt, lead singer and guitarist in Opeth even says LIVE, on their most FAMOUS DVD, "this song is totally ripped off by a band called Camel after finishing their song from the album Damnation, called Ending Credits. Camel was/is a huge influence for Opeth. They've said it themself.

  • DREAM THEATER admitted that MUSE was indeed a strong influence on their OCTAVARIUM album and of course that particular song 2, MIKE PORTNOY said that the ABSOLUTION album of MUSE was his "hands down favorite of the last decade". so i guess its not exactly rip off.

  • Everybody knew Vanilla Ice took Under Pressure. Rappers don't need shame. With the magic of PC & New Age consent all they need to do is admit and it'll be alright. Hence, "sampling".

TOOL and that unecessary band name. Da fuck?

That King Crimson/ Mars Volta bass line just seemed to follow the track.

Slash hates that song anyway. I heard.

That sorta thing makes Jimmy Page look bad.

The rest. Good enough. I'm going to buy that book Reality Hunger to see if art really is theft.

  • the first is 100%

    coldplay like maybe 85%

oh man i didnt realize system of a down

  • Coldplay sucks.

El de Sweet Child O'Mine y Stairway To Heaven me sorprendio.

  • the first system of the down was not similar at all

  • Liquid: yes coldplay:no SOAD: no Muse: yes Opeth: nope Dream Theater: yes Porcupine Tree: yes Opeth: no Fozzy: yes, similar BTA: no Vanilla Ice: yes, similar. And that guy sucks btw! Mars Volta: no Guns N Roses: NO! Slash made the intro on a joke.... Led Zepp: no FT: kind of...
  • @Goofetto it does...

  • basically, sweet child of mine resembles punk rock classic outro by red hot chili peppers

  • Who did not know that vanilla ice copied queen?! All the hoppers who think that would be music...

  • rush and guns n roses are similar, but not that similar..i think its just a coinsidence

  • lol

    yo casi me puedo

    echar una lista

    de canciones

    que led zeppelin plagio

    xD

  • 1:18 - rip off from Hendrix`s Third Stone From The Sun (1967)

    Just a popular rhytm,that`s it.

    not plagiatrism

  • i think achilles last stand vs knights of cydonia is a bit farfetched.

  • yea i agree. like i was listening to achilles last stand and i'm like : none of the muse sound like this..

  • good jeje xD

  • the dream theater vs muse one sounds the same cuz in never enough, dream theater created a song in muse style, they say this themselves

  • its funny my social theory techer has right in one thing..."And see it, at the artist of the moment selling like new, the same fucking song that 30 years ago another one sing" xD!!!!! and there goes all over the globe saying that his music its something origina xD!!!!! Thath hapens when the people dont care about the past, they buy the same fuckin shit again and again xD!!!

  • compare these song intros:

stairway to heaven by led zeppelin vs the ministry of lost souls by dream theater

flash of the blade by iron maiden vs back in the day by megadeth

  • kansas the wall , dream theater six degress inner trublance

  • did satrianni sew coldplay for vida la vida?

  • nice try, but the only "similarity" in the Led Zeppelin/Muse comparison is maybe the drum beat...Matt Bellamy of Muse has said that "Knights of Cydonia" was written as an homage to The Tornados (which was his father's band) song "Telstar"...why don't you do a video spotlighting all the green day plagiarisms, on second thought you'd probably have to make 10 videos!

  • that black magic woman one sounded nothing like the system of a down song

  • i got a some similar sounding songs on a vid i made, click on my name if you all wanna check it out .

  • In the USA under the... Parody Law ..1983 You only have to change a song by 10%

and it is a new song and its 100% leagaly Yours ..... it dont matter .....so lie cheat steal your way to glory

  • but it has to be a parody of the original

wich in all the cases i saw in youtube it isnt...

in fact...i think there are very few songs making a parody of others

  • Muy buen video.

  • Vanilla Ice actually sampled Queen though which happens a lot in modern music. David Bowie and Queen are credited in the writing of Ice Ice Baby.

  • ALL copies EXCEPT FOR 2 :

    SOAD vs Opeth (just similar)

Muse vs Dream Theater (the rythum is similar BUT NOT THE SAME !!)

opeth and Dream theater wouldnt copy or be influenced by these NON bands

  • I will quote what Mike Portnoy(DT drummer, composer) himself said in his "In Constant Motion" DVD (I even bothered to find-it starts on 2h 8m 40s of 1 dvd):"This song was definitely inspired by my LOVE in the last couple of years for the band MUSE. Surely a lot of my parts are VERY MUCH INSPIRED by Dominic Howard's(Muse's drummer) drumming." Portnoy composed the whole song and his drum part inspired by Muse. So stop saying sh*t and don't you dare call Muse a non band you worthless peace of sh*t!

  • OK. Dont believe what everyone says. They might were lead to say that for trade reasons (cd companies). EVEN if he said that and he meant that THAT doesnt mean anything. He might like the drummer of the band BUT the band is not a worthy band. Its like a pop band with light pop vocals. Even if Portnoi likes the whole band , that doensnt make it a good band

  • DT is my favorite band atm but u are just ignorant and don't know much about music if you are calling muse a pop band. Those 2-3 songs you heard on TV are probably one of those rare muse songs that went into more commercial style. Have you heard assassin or unnatural selection? or read the lyrics of those songs? Vocals don't make a song "pop". I u were right than you can call some DT songs (like for example "One last time") pop because they have a bit more "pop style?" vocals? Don't think so.

  • MUSE is not a perfect band. They cannot be compared to DT. The voice of Muse is awful. i said the vocals are pop. the melody of the vocals and the ooooooooaaaaa thing in the voice are awful (they are so pop and gayish). the instrumental part of muse is good (not pop)

  • Perfect Circle is a good prog band and most of the songs are really nice. Tool are good too but i dont like them (i only like vicarious). Liquid Tension experiment is great too (no vocals though). Muse are not pop BUT they have elements of pop in their vocal part and i hate that. many People who love pop listen to them too

  • That is just your opinion. And I respect that. I personally like his vocals, he can express emotions perfectly, being that love or sadness or anger and determination(those songs you probably haven't heard because they can't be heard on TV). Don't judge a band by what you hear on tv, Those Muse songs you hear on tv are not my favorite too. And there is no such thing called "a perfect band". Where have I said that? You have your taste, I have mine, and that's fine. :)

  • i dont watch tv. :)

  • neither do i. nothing to see there. i just turn it on sometimes, see that un-innovative worthless pop sh*t, and turn it off right away.

  • i know i wont change your mind...

but i heard the four bands..

i muse and SOAD are much better than the others!!!

they sound better and CREATE ...

the ones you like make "virtuous" shit

they better go play "guitar heroe" or something...

  • Vanilla Rice sampled that bassline, :l

and Led Zeppelin's stariway to heaven sounds like that song by spirit but i really don't think it's the same thing its like Gun N' Roses and Paradise City and Knocking on Heavens Door, they start out the same then go sepearate places

  • sorry but most of these are not plagiarism...

  • The system of a down one is definitely not plagiarism, that is one of the most common latin beats

  • @ the muse vs led zeppelin one, if that's stealing, then every piece of music ever written is stolen. Every song has an influence somewhere and is 'stolen' somehow, led zeppelin used to 'steal' from blues artist all the time. You could also call that being influenced.

  • I doubt Muse were even influenced by that Led Zeppelin song

the only similarity I could hear was the galloping bass line, which isn't that unusual, just not used that often in rock

  • You're absolutely right, it just sounds similar.. And muse kicks ass

  • Yeah Xanadu sounds a bit like Sweet Child O' Mine, but Xanadu.. Way better, and Rush kicks the shit outta Guns n Roses. True.
