Dally's fall was an accident. It wasn't planned that is real blooper. The director just decided to keep it though. That's why pony laughs so hard and looks into the camera. If you notice they don't look in the camera once in the movie other than that time.

I rember when I read this book in 7th grade I loved it it's been about three years and I read it at least 2 times if not more a year. I love this book so much.
