Ozone oxidzes (rusts) silver quickly (turns it black), so if you are keeping physical silver bullion at home (or worse, silver decorations in the open), you will need to put the silver in sealed ziplock freezer bags before you turn these machines on in high or away mode. Gold does not react with ozone, so it's ok. You can't mix ozone and carbon filters (Ecoquest / Vollara Fresh Air & Austin Health Mate in the house at the same time) - the ozone will saturate the carbon filter very quickly.
Ecoquest machines are the kings of odor elimination. If that is your primary need, this is what you want. It has some dust & allergen removal from the RCI but it is not its forte. If your needs are more particles / allergens, you need to get an austin air ($500-600) or IQAir ($900+) with their extensive HEPA filtering and 15+ lbs of carbon filter. If your needs are mixed, get a sharp plasmacluster ($350-400) - it mixes ionization & RCI with HEPA & carbon filtering (less than austin air though).
These things are not worth $750. You can buy used Ecoquests for $75-150 on ebay. $300-350 new on ebay for new from dealers going broke. Austin airs, king of allergies and particles, are $500-650. Sharp Plasm clusters, the odor/particle hybrids are $350-400. Ecoquest/Vollara/GT 3000 are the kings of odor elimination, so if that is your need, you need to get them off ebay or you will be overpaying. Plates and UV lights are cheap on ebay too - $6-15 each new. RCI cells not so lucky, $80 new.
