  • Great post Mr Levine, And a great big thanks to you and Colin Curtis for every saturday night from '73 to ' 76 in the Highland Room. I'm currently driving all my mates down the pub mad by crooning and strumming this marvellous and most evokative of N.Soul numbers on my mandolin. Sacrilege, sorry, but it goes down a treat.

  • Crazzyyy Foooool !

  • fxxk the cost feel the soul

  • one brill dance track

  • This aamazes me. Is it the fact that the record is mad rare that it is so popular, or do pepole really consider this a great song in general? I am not knocking it. I had never really heard of this song before the internet.

  • KTF loveit

  • respect keep the faith x

  • ..... a really great soul record. I think Kenny Burrell, the owner of one of the only 2 single copies, sold it recently. It went for over £25,000 as someone else has already said.. You can see Kenny talking about it elsewhere on YouTube and also (after he finishes speaking) a great video of people dancing at Northern Soul centre, Wigan Casino, to this record.... Wonderful music ... soul heaven...

  • Think of the things that matter, your past, your loves, your life - we have a short time to be here, and a long time to be gone. This is a moment that made our lives real, back in the 70s & 80s. Aching, clear, brutal and perfect. For all who were there, and all still to come, thank you Frank.

    Steve

    (early-mid '80s, Leicester, 100 Club etc

  • Do I love this because it's the most costly vinyl or because it's early motown? Doesn't matter I just love it.

  • The best EVER!!!!

  • do i love you , yes i do

  • Frank displays a serene contentedness in the video. He may not be the most well known or best paid artist of all time, but he looks like he's real happy nevertheless. A great song, and it's reputation just continues to grow. . . a fitting tribute to the longevity of the Northern Soul movement. The legendary late, great BBC DJ John Peel once said, Northern Soul is the only true underground music scene"

Check out Paul Mcdonalds latest novel..of the same title Do I love you. A must read for any Northern Soul Fan.

Lucky to be at the launch of Pauls book in Walsall last week, good folk, northern soulers and great sounds Frank included.

  • How can I get to read that book?

  • See Ian, lots of us appreciate the music you gave us and still listen in what ever way we can? The ability you have to get music and 'video' to us is so fantastic! Thank you.

  • Ah me vinyl box is getting the dust off again great sound - thanks Ian

  • Probably the most played northern sound ever.

Big thanks to Ian Levine. Without him and the other great DJ,s we wouldn,t have had a northern soul scene.

30 years on....keep on keeping on.

My all time favourite sound? Sister Lee, Sam Ward. Leeds Central 1974

  • I have some video of Sammy Ward sinnging "Sister Lee" and now you've brought it up, I shall look at editing it properly into the remake that we did. He's been dead for about fifteen years now.

  • I have now finished editing the video of Sam Ward singing "Sister Lee", and you can see it right now on my main page.

  • ....oooohhh gave me shivers hearing that again ;)

  • To Ian Levine

The Northern Soul Scene owes you a huge debt of gratitude.

Without the likes of you and the other DJ,s of the 70,s it just wouldn,t have happened.

How lucky i and others were to stumble upon the scene.recently attended the last "Samanthas" in Sheffield. John Vincent and a few other guest DJ,s. Many old faces and tears. Those days were truly the golden era for me.

So,just wanted to say thanks mate.

Keep up the good work and the projects.

    Regards

    Tom Brown

  • Niedawno do moich oczu i uszu dotarła wiadomość o istnieniu czegoś, co się zwie Northern Soul i powoli zaczynam odkrywać ten nurt - jak na razie robi na mnie ogromne wrażenie.

Lately I found Northern Soul. It's fantastic in my opinion and I regret that I haven't known it earlier :)

  • If you go online to amazon uk and get an album called "Yesterday And Tomorrow", then you will see it's just as good in 2008 as it was forty years ago. Trust me and you'll thank me for it.
