As BreaMarie91 said All babies are to be tested at birth . Has been this way in kansas since 1966 or 1967 I know of some that didnt get tested recently ( doctor error) but for the most part all should be tested.
Nothing was said about the inabilit y to metabolize protein . that is what pku is about .. sure there are some side affects from having it and all but there is so much more hope than there was when i was born in 1959. There are bright futures for babies and all pku people

something doesnt ring true here. there is some things here that do happen with late diagnosis.
I dont know why the friend couldnt play soccer? i dont get it Should have been fine.
But i do see that with levels that are off some screaming rocking headbanging etc. it isnt common anymore so much.
The light thing i do experience myself i was late diagnosed also. I didnt walk or talk until they found the problem and put me on formula and the special diet .
