Swinging maces get expontentially more effective when they're used in pairs or even three at a time. You just need tar traps at the last one to slow everything down since the slowed orcs will block the faster ones.

Also you don't need three traps across the hallway, just two in the middle. It'll save you money.

@YogscastSips place one set of tar trapsthen one space nextto it an arrow wall. That allows the arrow wall to reset and fire again. one set tar then arrow walls then tar set, alternate and then own.

@cowmancheese Actually there IS a right way to play. As in: if your tactics aren't good enough you die and thus loose. But that is completely beside the point which is that I'm only trying to help. I mean, if not for fans giving him tips here and there he wouldn't be using barricades by now and that would most definitely get him killed in some levels and impede the fun to be had with the particular series. Reflect on that before thinking you know what's right and what isn't.

There is no 'proper' use of a swinging mace. I use push traps by the sides and then get overcoiled springs so they can easily take out all ogres. :)

Arrow walls should be placed facing a long corridor for best effect, they hit everything running towards it as opposed to a smaller amount that run past it!

if you get the dlc there is a trap called the scorcher and it destroys runners because the trap gets set off within a 2 block radius and they get burnt to a crisp also thumbs up if you want sips to get the dlc and do a new series

the tactic i use with the swinging mace is: place a tar trap and a decoy underneath it. then i just watch the swinging mace annihilate the orcs as they attack the decoy. simple as that
