Delia Derbyshire is well known for her work with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and her help in creating the Dr.Who theme. Of all the BBC Radiophonic musicians I've heard I always found Delia's music to be more aesthetically mature than that of the others. While many were content to create mathematically structured enharmonic noise she looked for the ghost in the machine, creating haunting, off kilter and often sexually charged music. This track is from the 1969 The White Noise - Electric Storm LP
if you listen to other recordings of her voice, like on the Sculptress of Sound documentary, then listen to this recording, it sounds like it must be her. Her everyday speaking voice sounds beautiful, and she certainly had a grasp of melody. screw what wikipedia says
One of the best LPs of all time, once owned the original LP when it was current, wish I still had it, pure genius, had so many heavenly moments listening to this, thanks for putting it out there.

@clumpft - according to Wikipedia, she didn't do vocals, but I don't know for sure:

I walked into a record store in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1976 and saw this on the shelf. I bought it immediately. I have NEVER been disappointed!
YouTube cannot do this album justice - buy the CD and get some GOOD speakers!

@tomfarr56 Agreed! The stereo effects are amazing - the crash of symbols at 3:17 for example.
I really must put up some other tracks....

@tomfarr56 Cd? I'd pay $100 bucks for the vinyl if I could get it. But I'd settle for the cd.
clumpft 1 year ago
@clumpft It'd cost me a tad more than 100 bucks to get back to England and dig the vinyl out from my parent's attic! But I wouldn't sell it anyway...
