  • Everyone left ellenville and anyone still their is planning or dreaming of leaving

  • so let me get this right....did the local merchants and industries contribute 65% of the taxes? I think I might need to be told this a fiftieth time. Sheesh, propaganda was pretty blatant back then = )

  • Well you DID remember that figure, so I guess it worked!

Yeah, when we played this before large groups, by the umpteenth time the figure was repeated, it got a mix of chuckles and groans. But the point is valid, and the main reason FOR the film, so repetition is probably justified.

Today, with the shrinking retail and industrial base here, I doubt they contribute anything close to that percentage, alas.

  • Also, the lobby has been opened up to include part of what had been a restaurant/health food store before, and the bathrooms were upgraded. Grants have recently been received to fix the backstage area, and the hope is to get more grant money to put in a new heating system to allow year-round use.

  • Actually, there have been significant changes to the Shadowland. The three-sided square marquee, having been damaged, was taken down and replaced with a two-sided wedge-shaped overhang. The balcony has been closed and the seating rearranged to meet Equity standards for a small theater, with under 150 seats for stage plays; the control room for the staging/audio is now under the balcony where the back rows used to be.

  • wow the shadowland theatre looks exactly the same

  • It is great seeing a little of "old" Ellenville. - Seth Kestenbaum
