  • I saw Adam & the Ants the 1st time around, they certainly were a different act to what else was around. Seems as though you really enjoy your concerts.

  • I think my heart has just melted.

  • The banjo with Kate improves the recording, gives it a bit of variation. I love Kate but sin of all sins,I wonder if I could sit through through a whole concert!!!.

  • @Teddyb1939 She is even better in concert but it was a shame because when i went to see her there was know flute and i thing that makes it so much better. Not in this song obviosly but in songs like old man time.

  • @roystodj01 Hi thanks for the info on Kate & everyone is going to have differing opinions But I will say after great deliberation this lovely song should br heard by everyone & is my favourite song of Kates, The Cello has just come in as I am writing this. Pure Magic. Sorry if I am a bore but had to share with someone.!!!

  • @Teddyb1939

In the last eighteen months I have been to see Paul Carrack 3 times, Joe Bonamassa, Ian Anderson, and Paul Rodgers with friends All great gigs. Channel hoping i caught a few bars of a Kate Rusby song.

Friday night checking all her material.

I bought the Live in Leeds DVD which is brilliant and I went to see her in Halifax 14 May 2011 which was a joy. She came on stage twice drinking a cup of tea, rock and role.I now have the "Make the light " album, yes I am a fan. (new)

  • @306bad You sure have seen some magic sounding Gigs, Bonamassa is awesome, my son saw him in the States recently, He also had tickets for Bon Jovi [backstage as well] Glad to see you have found Kate Rusby. This particular song is so beautiful, the arrangement & the timbre of Kates voice are wonderful. Banjo & when the Cello comes in, Hard not to go over the top, Ian Anderson has always been a unique act.

  • @Teddyb1939

I had a backstage pass for an Adam and the Ants Gig in Sheffield and we went back to Their hotel after the gig.

Adam bought me 2 beers and we had a great chat. The hotel must have been in Dronfield.

The band I was a member of were backing Dave Berry at the time. Adam invited Dave for a guest appearance on his tour because Sid Vicious had recorded a song called "Don1t give me no lip child! a B side on one of his singles.

We did the Leicester Square Empire Ball room.

  • kateeeee :D

  • Swept away by Tsunami or devasted by quake. Our brothers and sisters around the world, stop, listen and be calm. Our Kate can sooth your soul and we will fix your faith in humanity. Peace be upon you. Amen X

  • great idea for images

    perfect

  • thanks

  • Does anyone know what other instrument is playing in this song? Is it a banjo? And if so, is it just a standard one?

  • definitely a banjo

    i iggorent which kind

    think regulur

in the hands of a very sensitive and alive person

    gentle soul

    maybe a guitar player

  • It is indeed a banjo, played by Chris Thile from Nickel Creek.

  • Awesomest song ever!!!!! =]]]] =D

  • i saw her a few years ago but cant remember if she played this song, anyway i think its reeel beautiful

  • Love this song

I saw her live last night at the Sage in Gateshead and she was fabb :D

She dedicated this song to her dog called Doris :D

  • The situation in Burma is largely forgotten, this is a well crafted video supporting the monks. Of course vocals by Kate Rusby. Burma has a military dictatorship, that is quite ruthless. See how music and politics often join?

  • Such Beautiful Peaceful People! My heart goes out to them.

Why on Earth can't something be done about this regime!!!

  • I wish the British gov and us gov would help the countries that are in need and seen to be forgotten by western leaders like burma I applaud this campainer to free burma from this evil rageme and illegal Burmese gov and get out of power and be free once more. Also afganistan too and many countries also but I think time is now to take out uk forces out of Iraq now not the end of 2009 we should of gone to war well before labour came to power but conservatives did not care still dn't now Free Burma

  • Marvelous bloody song. Very profound stuff on the video.

  • My grandfather made carpets in Yorkshire until he was called up to fight for freedom in the second world war. He told me stories when I was a kid about his time in Burma and how wonderful the people there were. He would be horrified to see how they suffer now.

  • ---- Beautiful ----

  • through the world Iam wandering wandering...these are the days I live now

  • She truly is a great soul!

  • This woman is absolutely amazing. I went to see her live last night at Tunbridge Wells. Shes even better live!

  • This is simply so beautiful. Others can add harmonise or arrange - and I look forward to hearing -but nothing will ever beat this, the original.

  • what a wonderful song love it

  • i love kate rusby, you can fit her lyrics to any situation or moment and yet give it a personal feel for yourself, this is possibly the pefect song for reflecting upon things no matter what mood you're in

  • hey you wouldnt happen to know where to get the tabs? i cant find them anywhere, it'd be much appreciated!

  • fantastic i am moved its a breath of fresh air ;0) i feel like i am lost just wondering the world 2 ;0(

  • y'know...

this would sound a whole lot better with some harmony on that wondering refrain...

  • I agree, or even a cello to mimic her on the "wandering waaaandering...". I feel ya tho, however the song is still amazing! ;)

  • Precioso...Besos desde España a Kate Rusby

  • Wonderful. Hauntingly beautiful. I have only recently discovered Kates beautiful voice. It is wonderful. Wonderful.

  • Beautiful singing and a very strong video

  • Strange how bullies hide behind the boys in uniform.

Contrast that with the dignity and sacrifice of the monks.

    Who is the coward here?

  • (good post btw, had me thinking! :) There are many answers and many perseptions. However i dont ask who is the coward, i ask who is the hero or the brave one... it takes alot for a monk to protest... so who is the brave one, the soldier... or the monk...? Who is the trader... the monk or the soldier? Kinda weird to think about that people cant even trust their own govn't to be the good guys. And to give an answer, the cowards are "the rest of the world" for not doing anything about it.

  • Glad you're thoughtfull tucktasticationister-can just I call you 'T', might be easier.

Bravery for me is someone who makes a sacrifice by choice, someone who is strong-but with no choice-still virtuous-but lesser so. The soldiers are just tools-being used as currency, so my feelings are indiference to them. My shear hatred is for the people who are in authority. I am ex-military so I see both sides.

  • That brought tears to my eyes.

    Thanks for posting this one.

I'm sure Joan Baez and the Dixie Chicks would have a few words to apply to the Burmese situation. And of course such an apt and beautiful song.

    Go and Google Burmese Monks!!

  • Beautiful. Never forget. Thank you.
