  • @proslade

Well I don't care to debate musical sophistication, other than you should listen to Alvin Lee's original!

I also deleted my original comment - to your benefit!

  • @helluvagun You did not have to delete it for me..............but it s appreciated! I think they re both great versions, and the original gets the credit becoz is the original to the great song.........eeeeeeeh I think Slade made a supurb cover, Noddy s voice is unimitable and they put so much energy in it. I think Slade could do anything, from covering the Beatles, Zappa, Moody Blues, Marvin Gaye, to play rock, ballads, country, jazz, gospel, punk, metal etc.etc. grossly underrated TOP band!

  • And they make it look so easy.

  • 30-52 by this time you were in Slade world. There was no escape until the house lights went up but you still stood stomping for more!!!!! Your mates had to drag you away and you'd fight 'em off just incase the Wolverhampton Bash Street Kids had another for you. This was the joy of Slade.

The joy of The Wonderful, Almighty Slade !!

  • Saw Slade perform this a few times.

It was so loud it was like being baptised by the gods of rock and roll, I even get a shiver down my spine listening to it on youtube.

Long live The Almighty Slade !!

  • Conseguimos sobreviver a isso, com a graça de Deus!

  • My ears just ejaculated!

  • The Slade - love

  • CEST BON EN CRISS!!! CA BUCHE!!

  • Right about now it's bullshit

  • Oh dear...................Was this some nightmare. Its like a big old jumbo jet stalling in the air! You can see it going across the sky....................you cant do anything. it wont hit you it will hit somebody else. Maybe it will hit carlfluk on his windmill!

  • Damn that intro is just BRUTAL by the standards of the early 70's! Amazing band, just pure fucken' rock!

  • Great post! Have always loved Slade and am a huge fan of Ten Years After.

  • this song is also on slade alive love it great guitar riffs !!! noddy is so cool!!

  • I agree, truly underrated. They rocked back in 73-74. Whatever happened to them

  • Noddy had the greatest vocals around but Jimmy Lea was the true star of the band! Bloke played every instrument known to man i reckon!

  • First was Slade...then came ACDC.

  • @naturaltoby And Status Quo, Roll over lay down!

  • THIS IS SO COOOOOOL!!!!!!!!

  • what a tune,..what a band..most underated British Rock Band ever

    Carlos,..

    Carlos,..

  • this is cut in half, i want a full version of the song

  • cool version of Ten Years After song

  • wasn't the Ten Years After tune a cover? Dunno, Don't care really!

  • @SirJekyllAppliance no it's a TYA song, see hear me calling, on the road again live in Vienna for a really good live version. Slade opened for TYA on one of their tours and must have liked the song. Originally from TYA'S Stonehenga album.

  • @wickedblonde96 you're right, I wasn't sure if it was an old blues number they'd souped-up

  • Slade were one of the loudest live bands around at the time.they usually had 16 JBL 4560 bass cabs toped with 2 massive JBL radial horns per side, its was litterly deafening!..my pal provided some of the PA support to them 35years ago,and he blames all his hearing problems nowdays on Slade's live gigs!

  • @misterpotatoheaduk Pardon? ; )

  • cum on noddy one more gig pleeze

  • wicked band!...reminds me off growing up as a kid with my uncles records..lol..

  • I LIKE THIS SONG VERY VERY MUCH!!!

  • fkn well loud

  • Wham bam, thank you ma`m,what a life we had in those days !Thanks Slade !

  • Oh man, now THATS rock n roll !!

One of the best live bands ever.

  • Noddy - The heaviest Telecaster ever!

  • Apart from Rick and Francis from The Quo Equally Heavy Telecasters

  • Of course! Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to have to look them up on You Tube now.

  • The fucking best mate.

  • Fuck me Slade were good weren't they?

They should be at Leeds, Glastonbury and Download

  • I agree! Even better than the originials and Alive! is one of the best live albums ever. (Now avavailable on CD, the both albums remastered)

  • Slade always made Hear Me Calling (along with Move Over, Born To Be Wild, Darlin' Be Home Soon etc) their own and in my opinion, better than the originals.

Slade Alive = one of the best 'live' albums EVER!!, end of!!

  • slade alive was the best album i ever owned. nuff said.

  • god-u so rite !!!!!!

  • this is a BEAST!!!! slade alive in my car full volume oh yes!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • That part from 1:36 onward sounded like doom metal. If they just sang something over it -it would pre-dated Swans, Melvins, or even Y.O.B. Well, maybe not YOB but it would have been close.

  • not gay i tryng to cover my darling be home soon and i got an lp of them and 1 cd but the lp was from my father

  • nobody but nobody form that day to this day could ever belt a tune out like noddy and the boys.we dont have slade any more but thank god for utube.and thank god i got rid of my tank top...lol..

  • WHATTTa FUKIN tune, just played this coming back on the m4 last night ,full volume. i'm 54 in june and still rockin always will be

  • I fucken love them so much.

I Love the yellow on Jim Lea. Tis awesomee

  • awesome...

  • That fucker just sent a shiver down my back - not heard it since i was about 10!

  • Id say back then the only other band who could match slade from 1971 to 1976 would be The Quo. Thats a tough act to follow. As Quo supported Slade once Dave said that they kept Slade on their toes on that tour.

  • I saw Slade a few times back in the day.

They would rip the house DOWN!!!

  • gamesandmusic2009. ha haa haaa.got any more jokes.what a silly little boy you are.oasis better than slade. not in my life time slade where a great band who could play..great classic tunes.that will stay with people like me for ever.five stars for this vid none for you

  • HOLLYCRAP WHAT A BAND!!!!!!.

    I just love em

  • @alphadec007 these guys looked like clowns but hell they rocked !

  • @arrestedsovereign Most astonishingly underrated clowns in the entire history of pop.

  • you just dont get any classic bands like slade anymore !

  • Also i said Most bands.

  • This is from the good old days when bands were real and could play instruments and sing live without all the false crap we see today, Brilliant Band, They could Get you on your feet,

  • To think there aren't amazing bands these days, is just ignorance. But I see what you mean, there are just some classic bands that have that magic we'll not see much of today.

Want to see an awesome band live? Try Muse.

  • Where in my comment did i mention the word amazing,if being truthfull about the shit bands around today makes me ignorant then so be it, most bands cant sing live or play an instrument, long gone are the super groups.

  • Yes, there are plenty of shit bands, but there are also many good bands that put a lot of energy into their live performance. I've probably seen 50 major bands in the past couple of years, so I would know this. Saying that, The Beatles still remain as my favourite band.

"long gone are the super groups" Sorry, but we do have some pretty damn good "super groups" these days too.

  • Oasis will be better than Slade right after a month of Sundays when it snows on Ayre's rock at Christmas every day, George Bush gets knighted for services to peace in the Middle East, and Sam Fox single handedly wins back the Ashes for England.

  • The 'Set Of Six' gig was recorded at Granada Studios, It was broadcast July 13th 1972 (for NezMaccaHam)

  • Nice video!!!!!

    All their songs are awesome.

Does anyone happen to know what year this was?

    Thanks.

  • killer!!! To not include these boys in the grassroots of metal is criminal!!!

  • there was a gangbang with lulu in chelsea and this song played and she stopped and danced naked .

Lulu, you gotta be on a wind up... The Lulu in a Gang Bang? ;-D

  • I had the wonderful experience of seeing Slade around this time. I was a very innocent 16 years of age and just loved every minute of it.

  • Ho man..that telecaster is a demolition machine, what a sound!!they sound great, pure rock. Great song, great performance

    Tks for posting

    Peace to all

  • Thats why Rick from the Quo Uses one. He says no other guitar can take the constant pounding that he gives it on songs like Caroline.

  • fuckin drum and bass man.. thats all u need.. jimmy and don! great opener song eh! anyone got in like a shot from ma gun or raven? `post em pls

  • IT'S A JOHN SEBASTIN SONG

  • Yes they do a good job o this!! Excellent! Just remember this is a cover. Written by Alvin Lee of Ten Years After.

  • Oh, I remember this song, this band won the war of the bands in my local rock radio station back home in South America where they had massive following.I mean they were HUGE in SouthAmerica. just for the record, the other band was Grand Funk Railroad, another not too popular band here in America. I guess we were trying not to like what the american pop culture was exporting at that time to our countries.

  • This one rocks!I got the red album (when they were vinyl)SLADE ALIVE This song is the first track ,oh buddy you all should get that one.Love them since I was 12 big fan # 1 . KEEP ON ROCKIN'AND GET DOWN WHIT IT! long live to SLADE.

  • I can't believe I am just discovering this band now. What a great surprise. These guys ROCK like no other. This has to be, without question, THE MOST UNDERATED BAND TO EVER HIT THE STAGE. I can't wait to buy all their albums. It's such a heavy sound. AWESOME!

  • slade were never underated brother.

they were worshipped in there day.

they outlasted the so called glam rock bands because there music was just so awesome.

they were the best live band ever.

you have so much to enjoy with your discovery.

millions of people would love them to regroup and tour again.

i just think noddy isn,t up for it.

    peace my brother and enjoy.

  • I second that remark tonderman, though they were marketed as a pop group the lads could fucking BLAST out great rock music.

  • this is true rnr...simple but good stuff!

  • please, haber si alguien la baja completa...

  • gran banda,, al igual que el amigo machupicchu, recien conozco los rostros de estos heroes del RNR,, gracias!!!

  • your spanish is fucking ridiculous mate

  • final de los a^nos setenta ,yo en la victoria, aquellos "TONOS" EN EL GARAGE DE ALGUNAS CASA EN SAN LUIS ,LAS VINHAS, YO NACÍ ALLÍ CASI TIRANDO P'AL MONTE, SLADE AL VIVO, TOCANDO Y YO QUERIENDO ESCAPAR DE MI REALIDAD DE MUCHACHO NACIDO EN LA PARADA HOY CASI TREINTA AÑOS DESPÚES POR FIN CONOSCO EL ROSTRO DE AQUELLOS QUE UN TIEMPO PASSADO ME HICIERON LITERALMENTE VIAJAR ,SALVE SALVE SLADE!!!
