I feel bad for you if you sold off your precious metals for Mutual Funds...I went the exact opposite way last year. Still got hosed by what I had left in Mutual Funds but diversifying some of your investments with precious metals is always a nice hedge. However, if you had it, you could ALWAYS exchange it for money which in turn coul be used to buy whatever goods you needed.
